I don't have too many resources for students reading at a second-grade level. Nonetheless, I do have some, and you may appreciate these. The worksheets on this page are written at the 2nd grade reading level. I used this reading level tool to determine the readability scores of my worksheets. Still, you should read and approve each of them yourself for quality and appropriateness before giving them to a child. I encourage you to check out the worksheets written for third and fourth grade students too. Reading scores vary greatly from one measure to the next. The readability scores on this page are a composite of those numbers. You'll get a better variety of appropriately leveled reading worksheets if you consider this idea of "reading bands." Click the button underneath this text to open up your band.

2nd Grade Worksheets & Activities
Welcome to our 2nd grade worksheets! Second graders are at the end of the beginning. In second grade, learners ask, answer, and retell information about the stories they encounter. They continue to recognize more and more words and learn to pronounce those words based on the skills they’ve honed during phonics instruction.
Learners write more than they did the previous year and expand on their ideas. The nature of their writing can also vary depending on the task. Sometimes they’ll write short responses or sometimes they’ll document simple observations based on what they see.
A goal for these learners is to recognize organization, like how a story begins and ends, and use that information in their own writing. Like years before, these learners also report and expand orally.
Book Report Templates
Book reports often ask students to summarize, reflect, and share their ideas. We’ve created a series of book report templates that you can use or adapt based on a variety of learning needs. They earn money for specific things throughout the day: one penny for copying down homework, 10 cents here and there. Just keep it consistent and don’t overuse it.
