HOW TO CREATE A VISION BOARD FOR YOUR BUSINESS: GUIDE & EXAMPLES

' src=

When it comes to business planning, a creative and visually engaging approach you might not have considered is creating a  business plan vision board .

This practical tool is a graphic representation of your business goals, allowing you to literally visualise your ambitions and the path towards them. Using a vision board for your business is like having a roadmap to success that you can glance at daily.

But why is having such a board important? For starters, it keeps your objectives front and centre, reducing the chance of straying from your core business goals.

Plus, a vision board brings your aspirations to life in a tangible way, making them seem more achievable. With it, you’re not only outlining what you want to achieve but also instilling a sense of motivation and positivity that can power you through the entrepreneurial journey.

What is a Vision Board for Business?

business plans vision board

In simple terms, a vision board for business is a physical or digital collage of images, quotes, and symbols that represent your business’s future goals. Think of it as a visual manifestation of your business plan, which usually might be text-heavy and complex.

When creating this board, you would collect pictures and words that resonate with what you hope to achieve in your business. It could include everything from the type of office space you want to have, the awards you aspire to win, the products or services you aim to launch, to the kind of work-life balance you wish to maintain.

A business vision board goes beyond the traditional business plan by incorporating the power of visualisation. The images, phrases, and symbols you choose are designed to inspire, motivate, and remind you of your mission.

As such, it’s more than just a collage—it’s a personalised and inspirational tool that manifests your dreams into reality.

In addition to providing a clear picture of your business goals, it’s also promoting positive thinking, perseverance, and resilience, all of which are crucial elements for the success of any small business.

Why Does a Vision Board Work for Business?

To truly understand the power of a vision board for your business, we need to dive deep into the psychology behind it and explore the evidence supporting its effectiveness. Plus, it’s also quite inspiring to learn from  successful entrepreneurs  who have used this tool to reach their goals.

The Psychological Aspect of Visualisation

First, let’s focus on the psychological aspect. Visualisation is a well-documented psychological technique where you mentally rehearse or imagine achieving a specific goal.

By regularly visualising our goals, our brains become trained to recognise what we need to do to achieve them. Essentially, it primes our brains to seize opportunities that will help us reach those targets.

Evidence Supporting the Effectiveness of Visualisation

In terms of scientific evidence, numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of visualisation.

Research in the field of neuropsychology has shown that the brain doesn’t distinguish between real and imagined experiences, meaning the act of visualising success can trick your brain into believing that success is attainable, thereby increasing motivation and confidence.

For instance, a study published in the Journal of Consulting Psychology found that unemployed people who used visualisation were more likely to find jobs than those who didn’t.

This same principle can be applied to businesses. Visualising your business goals can motivate you to take necessary actions, ultimately leading to higher chances of achieving those goals.

Real-Life Examples of Successful Entrepreneurs Who Use Vision Boards

The effectiveness of vision boards isn’t just limited to psychology and studies – real-life examples abound. Many successful entrepreneurs credit part of their success to the use of vision boards.

1. Oprah Winfrey

The legendary talk show host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey has repeatedly spoken about how her  vision board  helped her visualise and achieve her dreams of success. She even has a dedicated room in her home for her vision board, which she updates regularly.

2. Jen Sincero

Another good example is Jen Sincero. This bestselling author and motivational speaker also utilised  vision boards  to stay focused on her career goals. She says her vision board helps her visualise the life she wants to create, which keeps her driven and inspired.

3. Gary Vaynerchuk

Gary Vaynerchuk is an American entrepreneur, author, speaker, and Internet personality. Also known as Gary Vee, he uses vision boards to stay ahead of the curve in the ever-changing business world. His vision board keeps him inspired and encourages him to think big.

4. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Last but certainly not least, we have Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This renowned actor, producer, and businessman has spoken about the importance of  vision boards  in his life. He said that he created a vision board when he was just starting out in his career, and it helped him to stay focused and motivated on his goals.

These examples illustrate that no matter the industry or individual goals, vision boards can play a crucial role in realising dreams and maintaining motivation.

What Should You Put on Your Vision Board?

business plans vision board

Creating your own business plan vision board is an exciting and empowering process. But what should you actually put on your vision board?

The key lies in understanding your clear, defined goals, finding personal sources of inspiration, and then bringing it all together visually.

Why Do You Need Clear, Defined Goals?

The first and most important element of your vision board should be your goals. And not just any goals—they need to be clear, well-defined, and realistically achievable.

Whether it’s expanding to new markets, launching a new product, increasing your revenue by a certain percentage, or improving customer satisfaction, each goal should be specific and measurable.

These goals are the ‘north star’ of your vision board—the key points that every other element on the board should align with.

The Importance of Finding Personal Sources of Inspiration

Once your goals are clear, it’s time to delve into the more personal side of your vision board—the sources of inspiration. These can be quotes that motivate you, images that resonate with you, or symbols that mean something significant to you.

This part of your vision board is what makes it uniquely yours. It reflects your individual journey, values, and ambitions.

What Should Go on the Vision Board?

business plans vision board

When it comes to what actually goes on your vision board, the sky’s the limit.

For example, if one of your goals is to expand your business to new locations, you might include a picture of the city or country where you want to establish your presence. If you’re aiming to win a business award, find an image of that award and put it on your board.

Other items could include inspirational quotes that keep you motivated, images of people you admire in your industry, or symbols representing personal growth and success.

You might even include pictures of the lifestyle you’re working towards—like a balanced work-life schedule or more time for leisure and family.

Remember, this is your vision, your future. So, make your vision board as unique, bold, and inspiring as your aspirations are.

What Do You Need to Make Your Business Vision Board?

business plans vision board

Creating a vision board can be a fun, enlightening, and inspiring process. To get started, here’s a checklist of my suggested essentials you’ll need:

  • Board : The foundation of your vision board. This could be a cork board, poster board, or even a digital board on platforms like Pinterest. Choose whatever medium feels best for you. If you prefer something physical that you can touch, a cork or poster board could be ideal. But if you like to keep things virtual and easily accessible, a digital board may be the way to go.
  • Images, Quotes, Symbols : These are the visual representations of your goals and aspirations. You can cut images from magazines, print them from the internet, or even create your own. For digital boards, you can use images and graphics found online. Remember, these should resonate with your business goals and personal values.
  • Adhesives : If you’re creating a physical board, you’ll need something to stick your images and quotes onto the board. This could be glue, pins, or sticky tape, depending on the type of board you’re using.
  • Scissors : You’ll need scissors if you’re using physical images or quotes and need to cut them out.
  • Markers, Stickers, and Decorative Items : To add a personalised touch to your vision board, you might want to include coloured markers, stickers, or any other decorative items that inspire you. These can be used to write down specific goals, to add emphasis, or simply to make your board more visually appealing.
  • Your Goals : This might seem obvious, but it’s essential to have a clear idea of your business goals before you start. These will guide the creation of your vision board and help you choose the most suitable images, quotes, and symbols.
  • A Quiet Space and Time : Lastly, ensure you have a quiet space and dedicated time to work on your vision board. It’s a process that requires thought, introspection, and creativity, so it’s best done when you’re not rushed or distracted.

How to Create a Business Plan Vision Board (Step-by-Step Guide)

Creating a business plan vision board, or as some prefer to call it, a business vision board, may seem overwhelming at first, but with a structured step-by-step approach, it can be an enjoyable and rewarding process.

The following are my tried-and-tested steps on how to create a business vision board.

Step 1: Know Your Goals

Before anything else, you must clearly define your business goals. These should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).

For example, instead of saying,  “I want to grow my business,”  you might say,  “I want to increase my business revenue by 30% in the next year.”

Take the time to visualise each goal:  How will your business look when this goal is achieved? How will it feel? Who will be impacted, and how?

The more detailed your visualisations, the more potent your vision board will be.

Step 2: Understand Your Inspirations

What motivates you? What are the things that spark passion and drive in you? It could be a particular business leader you admire, a quote that gets you fired up, or the prospect of achieving a work-life balance.

Understanding these sources of inspiration will help you select images, quotes, and symbols that truly resonate with you for your vision board.

Step 3: Collect Your Images and Words

Now comes the fun part—collecting your materials. Start looking for images, quotes, and symbols that align with your goals and inspirations.

These can be cut from magazines, printed from the internet, or even drawn by hand. Remember, these elements should serve as a constant reminder of where you’re headed.

Also, don’t limit yourself to just business-related materials. If part of your goal is to have more time with family or to achieve a certain lifestyle, find images that represent these aspects too. The vision board should encompass all parts of your aspirations.

Step 4: Assemble Your Vision Board

It’s time to bring your vision to life. Start arranging your images and words on your board.

There’s no right or wrong way to do this—it can be as structured or as free-flowing as you want it to be. You might choose to group similar goals together, or you might prefer a more spontaneous layout.

As you arrange your materials, think about the relationships between your goals.  How does one goal lead to another? How might achieving one goal impact another area of your business or life?

This can help you create a vision board that truly reflects your holistic vision for your future.

Step 5: Display Your Board Where You Work

Once you’ve assembled your vision board, place it somewhere you’ll see it often. This could be in your office, at your workspace at home, or even as a digital background if you’ve created it online.

The key is to ensure that it’s visible to provide constant motivation and reminders of your goals. Each time you glance at your vision board, it should serve as a nudge, pushing you towards your aspirations.

How Often Should You Refresh Your Vision Board?

One common question I get asked is, “How often should I update my vision board?”

The answer? As often as your vision evolves. Your vision board is a dynamic, living document of your dreams and goals, and it should grow and change as you and your business do.

For some, updating their vision board annually may be enough. They set their goals for the year, and those remain fairly consistent. For others, particularly in rapidly changing industries or for businesses in their early stages, updates might be needed every quarter or even monthly.

Keep in mind that updating your vision board doesn’t always mean a complete overhaul. Sometimes, it’s a matter of adjusting a goal, replacing an image, or even just shifting items around to reflect a change in priorities.

The most important thing is that your vision board remains a true reflection of your current aspirations and continues to inspire and motivate you.

The Role of a Business Coach in Realising Your Vision

Creating a vision board is a significant first step towards achieving your business goals. But sometimes, you may need a bit of extra support in making that vision a reality. This is where a  business coach  can make a real difference.

A business coach is like your personal navigator on the journey towards your goals. They help clarify your vision, making sure it’s not only aspirational but also achievable. They challenge you, support you, and hold you accountable, increasing the likelihood of your success.

For instance, let’s say one of your vision board goals is to expand your business into a new market. A business coach can provide valuable insights on potential challenges, help you develop a robust strategy, and guide you through the implementation process.

Or, if you’re aiming to improve work-life balance, a business coach can support you in setting boundaries, improving time management, and helping you make strategic decisions that align with this goal.

In essence, a business coach helps turn the dreams on your vision board into tangible, actionable steps, thereby accelerating your path to success.

Whether you’re facing a particular challenge or you simply want to keep your business on the winning track, a business coach can be an invaluable asset in realising your vision.

How to Make a Business Vision Board

Next, here are the exact steps to making a vision board for your business that takes you to new heights.

How to make a finance vision board for business

1. Brainstorm & Let Your Mind Run With It

First, where do you want to take your business?

Spend a few moments writing down your biggest hopes and dreams. Think short-term and long-term. And it’s important at this step to simply dream without limiting yourself to imaginary boundaries.

2. Narrow Down and Write Out Your Goals

Next, narrow down your brainstorm and choose the goals and words that fit your business best. When making goals, stick to 1-5. Any more than that and you’ll have too many to focus on.

Also, while you don’t have to write this specifically on your business vision board, it helps to write SMART goals to go along with your board. That means you’re creating goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely.

3. Gather Your Materials

Next, gather anything you want to have to make your board. Your business vision might include images, quotes, and/or affirmations.

You may want any of these:

  • A printer to print images
  • Construction paper
  • Large background or Cork board
  • Markers or fun pens
  • Push pins or magnets

In this step, it’s time to find what inspires you most! The images and words you choose should represent your goal. When you look at them, they stir an emotional chord within to go after what you want. Now, get creating!

And finally, this step is incredibly important. Put your vision board in a place where you see it every single day. Two months from now when you’re feeling less motivated, that vision board will be standing there sturdy and strong, to help you get through the tough moments.

I replace “I have to” with “I get to.”

Entrepreneur’s Guide To Creating A Business Vision Board

A business vision board can help you grow your business to the next level. In this guide, I explain exactly how to create a vision board for your business so that you can make a 2023 vision board with ease.

How To Create A Vision Board For Your Business

The first time I made a vision board I had just quit my corporate job and transitioned into my business full time. I had this vision of traveling extensively with my family and making money doing work that lit me up so I decided to put my vision front and center (literally on the wall in front of my laptop) so that I could work toward it.

I curated images of my most important goals and the values I wanted to integrate into my life and business. I had pictures of school buses that had been converted into luxury tiny houses on wheels; pictures of all the national and provincial parks across Canada; pictures of me working from my laptop in a cozy & inspiring space; pictures of my family being happy, and healthy, and together; and numbers that represented the money I wanted to make and the hours I wanted to work while running my business from the road.

Guess who just returned from a 5 month trip in her skoolie and made $50K working 3 hours a week while travelling full time? Yep, me. And that’s why I’m here to preach about vision boards.

A vision board is a powerful tool for entrepreneurs looking to achieve incredible goals in life and business in the coming year.

Vision boards became popular in the personal development space as a way of depicting your goals in a way that increased focus, motivation, and action to help you achieve them. Now, they’re being utilized by powerful CEOs to help them ground down in what it is they actually want their business to look and feel like in the next 12 months.

In this article, I will explain

What is a business vision board?

How is a business vision board different from a personal vision board.

  • Why create a business vision board?

The science behind vision boards

business plans vision board

A business vision board is a powerful tool for connecting you, the entrepreneur, to your business goals. In essence, a business vision board is a depiction of your most important goals in visual format. But really, it’s so much more than the sum of its parts (pictures, words, bristol board, and glue).

It’s an effective process for connecting you to your goals on an emotional level, keeping you focused on the big picture when you get caught up in the weeds, and moving you toward a life and business you truly desire.

It doesn’t have to be. If you are an entrepreneur, your life and business are ONE, and both need to be in alignment in order for you to experience fulfilling success.

The emphasis on a business vision board doesn’t mean you exclude the life goals that your business helps you achieve (like your dream vacation, or your dream home) , but instead it means that you focus also on what you want your business to look like and the goals you have within it (like your dream team, the way you spend your time, how it feels to run your business, the kind of work you do, and how you impact your clients and community) .

Why create a business vision board?

While setting goals is a powerful process, adding the added layer of summarizing your goals through a business vision board brings so much value to the entrepreneur, the team, and the business.

A vision board helps you live intentionally

It’s easy to fall into “reactive mode” in your business: putting out fires and solving challenges as they come up. But your job as the CEO of your business is to lead the path forward. If you’re not intentionally thinking about what you want your business and life to look like down the road, you’re less likely to get there.

Creating a business vision board forces you to go through the process of building out your vision so that you end up with a business that you actually love in 3-5 years, and not a version of success that leaves you burned out and unhappy.

A vision board helps you inspire & align your team

Great people want to be part of great companies and teams. When you’ve taken the time to clarify your vision, you are able to effectively articulate your vision (and in this case, literally show it) to others, which gives you the power to inspire them with a vision of a different future.

If your team can’t see the 3-5 year vision, they can’t take action in alignment with it.

If you’re running a larger company consider this perspective: “suppliers and customers, of course, are making investments in your company, but then there are bankers, financiers, venture capitalists, or maybe shareholders, who are literally investing in your company. These people are already looking three years into the future. If you don’t share your Vivid Vision of what your company will look like with them, they’ll have to rely on their own imagination as to what your company will look like.” ~ Cameron Herald, Vivid Vision

If you’re a solopreneur just starting your own business, your team might just consist of you and your partner. If they can’t see the vision you have for your business, it’s going to be really hard for them to support you in creating it.

When you’re crystal clear on your vision for the next few years, you can make sure that the people on your team and in your life are aligned with that vision.

A vision board demands clear outcomes

It’s easier to hit a target when you know what the target is. When you get really specific on what you want, which you have to if you’re creating a picture of it, you’re able to narrow your focus which helps you achieve the desired result.

If you want more freedom to travel while running your business remotely, a vision board gives you space to figure out where you want to travel to and what it looks like to run your business so that you can see that more clearly.

If you want to speak on stages and reach a wider audience with your business, a vision board has you look at the conferences you’d be stoked to participate in and get their names or logos onto the board so that they’re already identified and you can take action toward that.

Without a business vision board, it can be easy to get away with vague goals like “freedom” or “public speaking”, but a vision board demands clear outcomes that you can put a picture around.

how to create a business vision board for 2023

You could make the argument that you’re able to create a powerful vision without using a vision board, just by having clear goals, but here’s what science has shown us about the power of vision boards.

Related Post: Are You Working On The Right Goals?

Pictures connect more deeply than words

Having a vision board for your business is so much more powerful than goals alone because images connect more deeply with our brains than words.

“[Pictures] bypass the cerebral cortex, where language is processed, and register directly with the intuitive (limbic) and visual (occipital) parts of the brain” says Dr Tara Swart Bieber, neuroscientist and MD .

This means that when your brain goes to filter all of the information coming at it in the run of a day, and sort and store it in your memory at night, it’s going to be more attuned to the images that registered an emotional response in you, rather than the thousands of words you read.

You can take this one step further and imprint your vision in your brain by looking at it immediately before bed. The brain is very impressionable as it drifts into sleep – known as the Tetris Effect – therefore focusing your attention on your vision before bed makes it more likely for your brain to devote extra energy to subconsciously processing unrelated pieces of information and finding ways to turn your vision into reality.

Looking at your vision board regularly imprints importance

The brain has a process called ‘value-tagging’ which imprints important things onto your subconscious and filters out unnecessary information. Neuroscientist Dr. Tara Swart explains that “the brain assigns a higher ‘value’ to images than written words on a ‘to-do’ list, and the more you look at those images, the more those images move up in importance”.

When you look at your vision board regularly, your brain prioritizes those goals above the distractions of day to day challenges and devotes more energy to figuring out how to achieve them.

Vision boards reduce the body’s stress response

I, personally, think this is the most powerful aspect of a business vision board.

When we try new things, our body initiates a stress response, releasing cortisol and adrenaline. However, the more often you expose yourself to these new situations, the less scary they feel.

Just think about the first time you went live on social media, or spoke at a conference, or signed a new client, compared to the last time – the experience is completely different after numerous repetitions.

Well, believe it or not, but your brain can’t differentiate between reality, and what it sees (in its mind, in pictures, in videos, etc.) so the more you expose yourself to images of what you’re nervous about, the less nervous you feel over time – similar to exposure therapy which decreases fear and avoidance.

Regularly looking at your business vision board reduces the physiological fear response to the challenging and stretchy goals you put up there, making you more likely to actually take action toward them.

I frequently challenge my entrepreneur coaching clients to step outside their comfort zones so that they can achieve the level of greatness, wealth, and impact they desire and deserve. A vision board, combined with the other mindset tools I teach, and our regular coaching conversations about these stretchy actions, helps reduce the fear they experience around a new idea and start to take action on it so they can have the result they want.

If you feel like you’ve been sitting too comfortable in your business and are ready to create bigger and better results, you may be a perfect fit for my 1:1 entrepreneur coaching program .

When to create a vision board

Seeing how the purpose of a vision board is to help you step outside of your day to day and think big picture, a business vision board is best created during periods when you’re outside of your routine and relaxed.

The end of the year, as things slow down in your business and you take some time off, can be a fantastic time to create a business vision board. Any vacation, be it in the summer, spring, or fall, can be a perfect opportunity to let your mind wander into the future.

If you feel the pull to create a business vision board now, but you don’t want to wait for a vacation, something as simple as a weekend retreat or even an intentional day of high level thinking can do the trick.

The key is to block out a significant amount of uninterrupted time (anywhere from 4 hours to an entire week, depending on your schedule) to think high level and give yourself the space to put your thoughts into a vision board.

How to create a business vision board

Give yourself the space to think into the future & reflect on what it is you really want to have happen in the next 1-3 years. I love to do this while hiking in the woods. If you process best by writing, carve out some uninterrupted time to sit with your journal and get all your thoughts out of your head and onto paper.

What are the actual goals you want to achieve across the important areas of your life and business? If you haven’t set goals yet, check out this guide . Your business vision board is going to be most powerful when it’s specific and focused on a short 12 month time frame. Don’t focus just on the financial vision, really dig into how your business feels, how you spend your time, what your team looks like, your thought leadership, and the impact you’re having on your clients and community.

Nothing fancy required – a piece of bristol board, a glue stick, some magazine cut outs, or printed photos from Pinterest, Instagram, Google that epitomize your goals. If you’re extra fancy, you can buy a frame to hang your vision board in once you’re finished for that next level touch.

Sit down and arrange the images on your bristol board – clump images related to one goal together. Glue them down and add as many special touches –- stickers, quotes, washi tape – that your heart desires. Make this a fun process by playing your favorite music, having a cozy drink, and maybe gathering some friends together.

Put that vision board somewhere where you can intentionally look at it in the mornings and in the evenings. Set an intention to spend 5 mins a day looking at your vision board and sitting in the feeling of it. Share your vision with supportive family members, friends, or a coach to help hold you accountable.

Creating an Online / Pinterest Vision Board

If the idea of a physical vision board doesn’t appeal to you, you can easily create a digital vision board.

  • You could create a vision board ‘board’ on Pinterest and pin images that inspire you.
  • You could use one of Canva’s vision board templates to design your entire vision board online and then save it as a screensaver on your computer, phone, or even print it out.
  • You could look into the various apps that are devoted exclusively to housing your online vision board, like Vision Board.

Personally, I prefer physical vision boards that I can have up on my office wall and linger over while I’m having my coffee in the morning, and before closing out my work for the evening. Especially because I spend so much of my day on a screen, a physical vision board feels better to me. However, I do love to take a photo of my physical vision board and keep it as my phone wallpaper so that it’s always with me.

the ultimate guide on how to create a business vision board for 2023

Vision boards are extremely common in the personal growth and development space, but they’re also beginning to gain more traction in business.

A business vision board not only helps you get clear on what specific outcomes you want to create, but it connects you on an emotional level to your goals, and helps your brain reduce the fear around something new and uncertain.

A business vision board also helps you stay focused on the results you want to create and it puts your brain to work figuring out how to make it happen.

I believe a business vision board is one of the best assets you can create to help you achieve your goals as an entrepreneur, and it’s a lot of fun too – when’s the last time you sat on the floor with a glue stick and gave yourself permission to just have fun? Make an Inspiring Vision Board in Minutes with Milanote

hero vision board

Follow this step-by-step guide to learn the modern process of creating a vision board in Milanote.

How to make a vision board in 5 easy steps

A vision board (or dream board) is a collection of images and words that inspire and motivate you to reach your goals. They represent the changes you'd like to see in your life. Maybe you want to eat healthier meals, get back to the gym or just spend more quality time with family and friends. A vision board is an easy (and fun) way to visualize your goals and keep them top of mind.

Vision boards have come a long way since the days of cutting images out of magazines and pinning them to a corkboard. Digital vision boards give you instant access to millions of images, allow you to save videos and links, and are easily edited to allow for big changes in your life.

In this guide, you'll learn the modern way to create a vision board in Milanote. Remember, the creative process is non-linear, so you may find yourself moving back and forth between the steps as you go.

1. Set your goals

Start with a brain dump of everything you want to achieve. Vision boards can include your aspirations for the year ahead and any thoughts or feelings you want to bring into your life. Whichever you choose, it's important to include goals you can actually achieve.

Describe your goals in vivid detail. For example, if you're savings goal is a new car, don't just write 'new car'. Describe the make, model and even the colour you'd like.

If you get stuck, try answering the following questions...

  • How can I be happier at work? Do I have new career goals? What's my dream job?
  • How can I create a healthier body and mind?
  • What are my financial goals? What major purchases should I save for?
  • How can I improve relationships with my partner, friends or family?
  • Are there any activities I'd like to try? What have I always wanted to learn?
  • What's a destination I've always wanted to travel to?
  • How do I want to feel every day?

logo visionboard guide step 1

Drag out a new board for your vision board.

Drag a note card onto your board

Start typing then use the formatting tools in the left hand toolbar.

Add a note for each goal.

If you're not sure what goals to set for yourself and you're feeling frustrated, step away and think about it a bit more. Creating a vision board should be an enjoyable process and doesn't have to happen in one afternoon.

2. Add inspiring imagery & links

Now that you've set out your goals, start looking for images that represent them. These will serve as your daily visual reminder, so pick images you love to look at. Is there something about a particular image that captures your dreams and goals perfectly? Save it to your board.

Oprah Winfrey said, “It's important to create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe.” So find inspiring images and links that help manifest these big changes.

It's best to choose images that include people doing the activities you'd like to try, images of the items you're saving for, and even links to books you'd like to buy. And don't worry too much about organizing your board just yet—that bit comes next.

logo visionboard guide step 2

Drag files from your computer.

Upload a file or document

Click the "Upload" button or just drag a file onto your board. You can add images, logos, documents, videos, audio and much more.

Use the built-in image library.

Use the built-in image library

Search over 3 million beautiful, free photos then drag images straight onto your board. Powered by Pexels.

Save links from the web.

Save content from the web

With the Web Clipper installed, roll over an image (or highlight text), click Save, then choose the destination in Milanote. Return to your board and find the content in the "Unsorted" column on the right.

3. Transform your board from messy to organized

Once you've collected the links and imagery, the next step is to arrange your vision board into a composition you find visually appealing. You'll be staring at this daily, so take your time arranging it until you're happy.

Start by exploring composition and introducing scale. Is there one goal in your board that's most important to you? Try increasing its size. Are there themes you can see? Try grouping those elements together to signify their relationship.

There is no right or wrong to laying out your board. Just have fun and be creative.

logo visionboard guide step 3

Resize images.

Resize images

Drag the corner of an image to resize it. Double-click the corner to return it to its original size.

Crop images to focus on the part that matters.

Crop images

Double-click an image and press edit to crop or rotate it.

4. Add some words of encouragement

Now that your board is taking shape, include some words to get your mind thinking positively. Adding captions under your images is a great way to remind yourself why you chose those photos.

You can also fill your vision board with words that reaffirm how you'd like to feel when you start each day. They can be singular words or inspiring quotes. Read them back to yourself to see how they make you feel. The human brain can change even into adulthood, so the more we read and memorize positive statements, the easier it is to recall and act on them later.

Be sure to phrase your affirmations in a positive way. Instead of saying 'I won't neglect my friends.' try saying 'I'll reach out to friends every day.' You can find plenty of inspiring quotes online if you get stuck.

If there are particular words you want to draw attention to in your board, increase the size of them or try adding some colour.

logo visionboard guide step 4

Add a caption to an image.

Add a caption to an image

Select an image and just start typing.

Write on the board.

Sketch ideas on the board

Click Draw in the lefthand toolbar to sketch anywhere on a board. Press Save to commit a sketch.

5. Export or share your vision

Now that your board is complete and looking amazing, it's time to manifest your dreams. Vision boards will never come true if you forget about them, so save and export your board. Print it out and hang it beside your bathroom mirror or set it as your computer or phone wallpaper. It's important that you see it every day.

Always remember to take a few minutes to stand there and look over it. Study each image and remember why it's there. Doing so gives you time to focus and allows you to think of new ways to achieve your goals.

Re-read your affirmations to help calm your mind if you're feeling overwhelmed and reinforce positive thoughts. The goal is to walk away from your vision board feeling joy and motivation.

logo visionboard guide step 5

Share a read-only link to your board.

Share a read-only link with others.

Click Share in the top right of your board. You can add a Welcome message for viewers, allow comments, set a password or embed the board in another app or website.

Export your board.

Create a table

Drag a table out from the toolbar. You can add simple formulas, dates, currencies and more.

And you're done!

Now you have a beautiful vision board filled with inspiring words and achievable goals to work towards every day. Study it closely and do what you can to bring those dreams to life.

Remember, life can change direction at any moment, so think of your vision board as a living thing and make changes to it when you need to. If you've been successful at manifesting a goal, consider removing it from your board. Or treat your vision board like a checklist and add a tick beside each item as you complete it. No matter how you mark off your achievements, don't forget to celebrate them!

What is a vision board?

How do vision boards work, how to make a vision board for manifestation.

How to create a vision board online

Manifestation ideas for your vision board

How to use your vision board for manifestation.

Everyone has something that they want to bring to life. But what if you can't really see it?

If you don't have a vision and you’re struggling to pinpoint what you want and where you want to go, it is difficult to get traction.

Without a clear vision, it's hard to direct your efforts in ways that serve your goals. It's also hard to attract the support and resources you need.

That's where a vision board comes in.

You might have heard people talk about manifestation, the idea that you can attract your dream vision into your life by thinking about it . In reality, our dreams don't manifest on their own. Achieving your goals and realizing your potential takes work.

At the same time, it helps to have a detailed vision and a belief in your own ability to convert that visualization into action . And from action to reality.

Vision boards are an amazing tool to help you create that focused vision and kickstart the real manifestation process.

What exactly are vision boards, and do they really work? Vision boards are all about intentions, and they are a great way to remind yourself of what your intentions are .

Let’s explore how to create a vision board for yourself and how to make the most of it once you whisk it into reality.

Vision boards are a collection of images or objects arranged in a way to help you manifest your goals or vision. This board can be physical or digital.

Vision boards are highly versatile. You can use them to manifest your personal goals or create a visual representation of a personal vision statement . They’re perfect for helping you envision your dream life. But you can also use a vision board to outline your professional goals .

You can use a vision board for long term goals, like achieving your 5-year plan . Or you can create a yearly vision board, too.

People who use vision boards usually place them where they’ll see them often. For instance, you can place a vision board on a mirror you use to get ready in the morning. Other people will prefer to hang it on a wall in a room they use often.

woman-cutting-materials-how-to-create-a-vision-board

What should a vision board include?

The sky’s the limit when it comes to what to include in a vision board. To start, you should add images that inspire you or make you feel a certain way . Think back to the last time you looked at an image or photo that made you feel something. How did you feel? Is this feeling something that aligns with your values ?

That’s what you’re looking for when you’re thinking of what to include on your board.

Vision boards also contain quotes that align with your vision. They can be:

  • Handwritten
  • Printed and attached to the board
  • Drawn in calligraphy
  • Cut up from interesting materials, like old shirts

In addition, a vision board can contain items of sentimental value. These items can be attached to special memories you have that remind you of your goals.

In reality, nothing is off-limits when it comes to a vision board. If it’s feasible to add it to a board, you can try it. The important thing to consider is whether it will help you manifest your vision or not.

You already know that you can't achieve your goals just by thinking about them (or chanting them or writing them down on X slips of paper).

So what's the deal with a vision board?

You create a board out of craft items, magazine clippings, and other miscellaneous items. How can something so simple help you set and achieve your goals ? It can sometimes feel like magic.

Well, it’s not quite magic. Instead, according to BetterUp's Dr. Erin Eatough, "It is the concept that thoughts precede behavior. Mindsets drive behaviors that drive outcomes."

  • Vision boards are effective because they are a visual reminder of your intentions. This reminder can help you stay focused on your goals, even during challenging times. By consistently reviewing and updating your vision board and reaffirming your intentions, you strengthen your commitment and increase your motivation to take action.
  • Vision boards help you clarify your goals. They can then give you a clear direction for where you want to go in several areas of your life. Creating a vision board requires you to reflect on your desires and aspirations. By visually representing your goals, you gain clarity and a better understanding of what you truly want to achieve. This clarity enables you to set specific and meaningful goals that align with your vision .
  • Vision boards are a constant reminder of what your priorities are . You can get to know yourself a little better by clarifying what it is you want.
  • This visual reminder helps you "manifest the things you want" by taking action to get them. Whenever you need to make a decision in your life, your dream board is there to remind you of what matters to you. Think of it as a nudge in the right direction.
  • Vision boards are similar to journaling in this way. Some people find it easier to set their goals and visualize what they want by writing everything down. But vision boards are perfect for people who prefer a visual representation of that same purpose.
  • Vision boards let you visualize your success. By regularly looking at your vision board, you immerse yourself in a visual representation of what you want or hope to achieve. This helps create a positive and powerful image in your mind, making it easier to believe in your ability to achieve your goals.
  • A vision board is filled with images, words, and symbols that inspire and motivate you. When you look at your board, it should trigger positive emotions, excitement, and enthusiasm, which can fuel your determination and drive. It serves as a visual representation of your dreams and reminds you of the possibilities ahead.
  • Seeing your goals and desires displayed on your vision board can help build confidence and self-belief. It serves as a constant affirmation that you are capable of realizing your goals. As you visualize yourself living your desired reality, your belief in your own potential strengthens, which can positively impact your actions and decisions.
  • In our busy lives, it's easy to lose sight of our goals and get distracted. However, regularly viewing your vision board keeps your goals at the forefront of your mind. It acts as a visual anchor, reminding you of what truly matters and keeping you on track. It helps you prioritize your time, energy, and resources toward the actions that align with your vision.
  • A vision board can also incorporate elements of gratitude and positivity. By including affirmations , quotes, or images that reflect gratitude and a positive mindset, you can cultivate a mindset of abundance and appreciation. This mindset can contribute to your overall well-being and attract more positive experiences into your life.

Remember, while a vision board is a valuable tool, it's essential to take inspired action toward your goals. The board acts as a guide and source of motivation, but it's your actions that ultimately bring your dreams to fruition. Combine the power of visualization with consistent effort, determination, and resilience, and you'll increase your chances of achieving your goals.

Creating a vision board can be fun and easy. Engage with your creative, playful self . You don’t need to overthink the process. Your own vision board is for you and you only, so there’s no one you need to impress with it.

You can create a physical vision board that you can hang anywhere in your home or office following these steps:

  • Take some time to clarify your vision
  • Gather your materials
  • Find images and objects that represent your vision
  • Arrange your materials
  • Place your vision board where you’ll see it often

Let’s break down each of these steps.

1. Take some time to clarify your vision

Creating a vision board requires you to reflect on your desires and aspirations. Before you start crafting, take more than a few moments to clarify your vision . What do you want to manifest with your board?

Get as clear as you can on your vision . Don’t rush this step. It’s the foundation for your entire board. You will find that you get even more clarity, and detail, as you create the board.

Don’t distract yourself with other entertainment during this step, like watching TV in the background or talking to a family member while thinking about your vision. It’s important to remain self-aware as you clarify your vision.

You can journal about it if it helps to write things down.

2. Gather your materials

To make a vision board, you’ll need a variety of materials. In some cases, you can make do with what you have on hand. But some materials are more important than others.

For instance, you’ll need a board as a base. There are several types of boards you can use, including:

  • Wire boards
  • Whiteboards
  • Magnetic board for your fridge

If you don’t want to spend a ton on new items to make your vision board, it’s not necessary to use one of these types of bases. Instead, you can cut out a large piece of cardboard from a box you have at home. Or, you can purchase a large poster board at your closest dollar store.

You’ll also need images or items to add to the board. Those images can come from a variety of sources, including:

  • Old magazines and catalogs
  • Printed versions of online images

Next, you’ll need something to secure your items to your base. You can use what you have on hand or purchase what you prefer to use. Pins and clips work well. You can also use glue sticks or tape. If you’re making a magnetic board, you can use small magnets to secure your images.

Scissors will be useful to help you cut out your images.

Finally, you’ll need a variety of craft tools like pens, markers, paint, stickers, or anything else you want to use to embellish your board. You can use as little or as much of these materials as you desire.

3. Find images and objects that represent your vision

You’ve already gathered your materials. Now, it’s time to prepare them to be displayed on your board.

In addition to images, you can find quotes to add to your board. You can print them out or write them yourself with a nice pen or marker.

Are there any items associated with memories from your life that spark the feeling you’re envisioning? If so, consider adding it to your board.

You can even add craft items like scraps of fabric. Or, you can include items from nature like tree branches if it makes sense with your goals. For instance, adding some leaves or pine needles could remind you that you want to spend more time in nature.

woman-handling-evergreen-branches-how-to-create-a-vision-board

4. Arrange your materials

Now it’s time to take everything you’ve prepared and arrange your board.

Have some fun with this step. Your layout should inspire you. There’s no need to rush it.

Feel free to play around with different layout options until it feels just right for you. This process is part of developing a clearer, more detailed vision for the future.

You may discover that you’re missing something when you get to this point. Don’t hesitate to go back if you want to add anything new.

When you’re done, secure everything in place with your binding material of choice. Don’t secure your items too quickly. Make sure you’re happy with it. If you’re using pins or clips, it’s easy to change things around. But if you’re gluing or taping your materials, it’ll be much more difficult to change your mind afterward.

5. Place your vision board where you’ll see it often

It’s finally time to place your vision board. Choose a place that makes sense for you. It should be easily accessible daily.

You can try:

  • Your fridge
  • An empty wall in your kitchen
  • Your nightstand
  • Inside your home office if you work from home

Make sure not to secure your vision board too tightly in its new home. This is just in case you change your mind about the placement.

How to create a vision board online

Online vision boards can be accessed anywhere you have an online device. They also don’t require printing or buying expensive materials.

Here’s how you can make your first vision board come to life digitally.

1. Choose your tool

There are several options to create a free vision board. Some people like to use Pinterest because it’s so easy to collect images and links. However, Pinterest isn’t arranged like a traditional goal board. You can’t create a layout like you could with a physical board.

One tool that makes it easy for non-designers to design their own digital vision board is

Canva. The user-friendly design tools in Canva can help you create a more traditional board, even if you don’t have any design skills.

2. Source your images

The great thing about creating a vision board digitally is that you have virtually no limits for what type of images you can use.

There are so many high-quality images that are also royalty-free. Websites like Unsplash or Pixabay make it easy to search for exactly what you’re looking for.

You can also source images from social media accounts you love. As long as you keep your vision board to yourself, you can use other people’s images. Just remember that you don’t own the copyright for these images. You’ll need to ask for permission if you want to share your vision board publicly.

Additionally, you can search for vision board ideas online to help inspire you.

3. Use a template, or start from scratch

There are free and paid Canva templates available online. These templates make it even easier for you to design an amazing-looking vision board. All you need to do is add in your images and place them exactly where you want them.

You can also choose to start from scratch. If you do, you’ll need to choose your board size. The board size you choose should depend on where you’ll use it the most. For example, you should create a vertical board if you intend to mostly view your board on your smartphone’s lock screen or background.

4. Add your images and quotes to your digital vision board

Once you’re ready to go, it’s time to add your images and quotes to your digital vision board.

If using Pinterest, pin what you see into the right board. But if you’re using Canva or another design tool, you’ll need to think about the placement of your images.

Just like a physical vision board, take your time with this step. The great thing about digital boards is that you can undo your work if you’re not happy. You can also resize your images and quotes to make everything fit exactly how you envision it.

5. Save your image

Once you’re happy with how your board looks, it’s time to save and export your file. Note that you can’t export a Pinterest board, so this only applies to a tool like Canva.

Inside Canva, you can easily save and export your image for free. A paid account will let you export more types of files.

So what can you do with your exported file? Add it to your phone lock screen or as a background on your computer. You can also decide to print the board to hang it somewhere in your home.

If you intend to print your board, make sure your board size is large enough for the final printing size. A board that’s too small will look blurry and pixelated if printed in a very large size.

Now you know how to create a vision board from scratch. But it can be difficult to start when there’s so much you want to accomplish.

Let’s go over some manifestation ideas to inspire what items to add to your board.

  • Career aspirations: images from trade magazines, tools of the trade, images that represent financial abundance
  • Self-care : inspiring quotes, reminders, soothing images that inspire wellness , workout inspiration
  • Love and relationships : quotes that represent your point of view on relationships, images of loving relationships
  • Positivity : images that spark joy within you, quotes that make you feel positive and mentally fit
  • Travel : images of your dream destinations, postcards, images of planes or trains, photos of you traveling

woman-traveling-alone-how-to-create-a-vision-board

There are several ways you can use your newly created vision board to help your affirmations come to life.

First, consider including your vision board in your daily self-care routine . You can take time for yourself every morning to look at your vision board. Meditate and use the images you’ve created to inspire your meditation .

You can do the same thing in the evening before you go to bed. Instead of scrolling through your phone in your bed, take some self-care time to look at your vision board and meditate on your vision again.

This isn't magic. It's shaping your thoughts and reinforcing your priorities. It's motivating. The last thing you’ll think about before you go to sleep will be what you envision for your life. Isn’t that powerful?

When you create your vision board, you can also leave some areas blank to make room for what you want. You’re always growing as a person . It makes sense that you’ll have new goals to develop over time.

Another technique you can use is to speak your goals out loud. When you look at your vision board, speak affirmation of your capability to realize your goals.  I am enough. I have all of the tools and resources I need to X. I can do this.  You can even incorporate speaking into your meditation if it works well for you.

You aren't "speaking your goals into existence" so much as reinforcing positive self-talk in your mind . Achieving your dreams is hard enough without a runaway train of negative self-talk to contend with .

One of the best ways to make your vision board work is to make sure you don’t just visualize. You also have to take action.

If you want to get your dream job, start developing the skills you need to succeed in this position. If you want to travel more, open a new savings account and set up automatic transfers every month. If you want to spend more time outdoors, add some dedicated time to your calendar for outdoor activities.

Finally, refresh your board when you feel the need to do so. You’ll know it’s time to refresh the board when looking at it no longer inspires you the way it used to. Maybe your passion and true north have changed over time.

What is a Vision Board and How to Make A Board Your Own

Brooks Manley

Ever heard of a vision board?

It’s a powerful tool that can help you visualize your dreams and goals. Think of it as a visual representation of what you want to achieve in life. It’s a collage of images and words that represent your dreams, aspirations, and things that inspire you.

Creating a vision board isn’t rocket science. You just need a few materials and a clear idea of your goals. It’s all about finding images that resonate with your dreams and arranging them in a way that motivates and inspires you. Stay tuned as we dive into the details of how to create your very own vision board.

What Exactly is a Vision Board?

Think about it as your personal dream catalog. It’s really a simple concept, one that can have a super powerful impact. A vision board is essentially a tangible and vivid representation of your aspirations, your dreams, and what you want your life to be like.

Don’t limit your thinking here to just material possessions or a career title. Your vision board can encompass all facets of your life. It can detail the places you’d like to visit, relationships you hope to cultivate, or personal growth you wish to achieve. Maybe you aspire to write a book, start a charity, or run a marathon – anything that fires up your passion and fuels your plans.

Remember, the purpose of a vision board is not to serve as a rigid roadmap. Instead, think about it as a motivating beacon. It allows you to influence your dominant thought patterns positively, thereby setting in motion the law of attraction. The more you visually comprehend and internalize your desires, the better your chances at turning them into reality.

To create a vision board, you’ll need a few simple materials and, more importantly, a clear idea of what you hope to achieve. Print off relevant pictures, quotes, or words that speak to your soul and glue them strategically on a poster board or a corkboard.

Creating a vision board can be a deeply empowering and transformative process. You are, after all, taking control of your life, direction, and setting an intention to go after the future you envision.

Why Should You Create a Vision Board?

It’s more than just a fun craft project. In fact, it’s a powerful tool that puts your goals front and center in your life, helping you stay focused and committed. Now sure, that sounds impressive – but let’s drill down into details about exactly why you should consider creating your own vision board.

Make Your Goals Visible

A vision board serves as a daily visual reminder of your dreams and aspirations. Imagine this: you wake up each morning to see a collage of images and words that reflect your deepest desires and goals. Pretty inspiring, isn’t it? In a study conducted by TD Bank , 82% of small business owners who used vision boards from the inception of their business had achieved more than half of their goals. That’s a powerful testament to the effectiveness of this tool.

Stay Motivated

Furthermore, your vision board supplies an essential component for success: motivation. Let’s face it, it’s easy to lose steam when chasing big goals. A vision board keeps the flame of motivation burning by reminding you of why you started in the first place.

Manifest Your Dreams

Ever heard of the mind’s power to manifest reality? That’s where a vision board comes in again. Few tools can get your mind to focus on your dreams in such a vivid, colorful way. It’s like continuously telling your mind to channel energy towards accomplishing those dreams. A 2011 study by the Psychology Department at the University at Albany found that vividly imagining desired outcomes increases the likelihood of those outcomes becoming reality. Can’t argue with science, right?

Your dreams aren’t just mere thoughts. They can become concrete realities. A vision board could just be the tool you need to turn your dreams into tangible goals then into your everyday life. So, what’s stopping you from creating one right now?

Materials Needed to Create a Vision Board

Creating a vision board isn’t rocket science. In fact, it’s quite easy if you’ve got all your materials on hand. We’re here to list all the essentials you’d need to jump right into it. Trust us, it’s going to be a fun journey of mapping out your aspirations!

So, what all do you need for this project? Normally, it’s just a few simple things :

  • Any type of board: A cork board, poster board, or even a wall work.
  • Magazines or printed pictures: Colorful and meaningful images are key to visualizing your goals.
  • Scissors: You’ll need these to cut out your pictures and designs.
  • Adhesive: This can be glue, tape, or push pins – anything that’ll help you stick those images onto your board.

Don’t worry about shopping for brand new items. Usable materials are often just lying around the house .

If you want to get more innovative and personalized with your vision board, there are a couple of extras that you can consider:

  • Markers, pencils, or pens: Perfect for adding words or drawings.
  • Decorative items such as stickers or ribbons: To give your board a little extra flair.
  • Personal photos: Helps make your board more personal and unique to you.

Remember, a vision board is all about translating your dreams into a tangible, visual format. So, don’t hesitate to mix things up a bit if you feel it better represents your dreams or aspirations. After all, this is your vision and your board. So, have fun with it, and let it show what you’re aiming for.

With these in-store, you’re all set to delve into your creativity and play around with layouts and designs. Start off by visualising what you want, and then let your creativity unravel. The process is therapeutic in itself and is, of course, a steady stepping stone towards achieving those goals. The process of creating the board is as important as the vision board itself. So, take your time and enjoy it. When you’re ready, the next section will take you through the actual process of constructing your vision board.

There’s no time like the present, so why not get started today?

Step 1: Define Your Goals

When you’re all set to create your vision board, you’ll need to start with a crucial first step – defining your goals. This isn’t a task to be taken lightly. It’s not about glancing at vague aspirations—it’s about zeroing in on concrete aims that you wish to work toward.

Start with a brainstorming session. Go wild! Dream big! Write down anything that crosses your mind—from spending more time with family, mastering a new language, journeying to unseen places, to advancing in your career. Remember, no aspiration is too bold or too small when it comes to your life. You’re the artist of your existence. The power to produce your masterpiece lies directly in your hands.

In this stage, make sure to concentrate on all the facets of your life. Divide your life into key categories: Career, Relationships, Health, Personal Growth, Finances, and Leisure. The crucial portion is you don’t restrict yourself to a single domain.

To keep your efforts organized, create a table to systematically record your goals. Like so:

The very act of writing solidifies your intentions. You’re not just thinking about it anymore—you’re setting the path for these dreams to manifest into reality.

Each goal you pen down can act as a powerful incitement to your subconscious mind. This saintly act will fuel your determination during difficult moments, keeping you committed and motivated towards your pursuit.

Remember, this isn’t a task you need to rush. Take your time. Contemplate what you truly desire from life. Once you’ve mapped out your dreams, the next chapter of your vision board journey can commence. Carry this energy forward. Keep that spark alive. Your vision board masterpiece awaits.

Step 2: Gather Inspiration

Get creative.

Think of this phase as filling your creative toolbox. You’re gathering ammunition for your vision board . You’re not just hunting for pretty pictures or motivational quotes. You’re collecting materials that symbolize your dreams, your goals, and your ambitions.

Find magazines. Yes, we are talking old-school here! Flip through them and rip out images or words that resonate with you. You’d be surprised how a random cut-out from an ad or editorial might just perfectly encapsulate your deepest desires. Don’t have magazines? No sweat. Use online platforms like Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration.

Check out books. Novels, self-help guides, travelogues, cookbooks – any written content that sparks your imagination. Words have immense power to inspire. They can give shape to your ideas. So cherry-pick books that make your heart race or introduce you to new concepts, lifestyles, or destinations.

Tune Into Yourself

Harness your own emotions and experiences. Draw from your memories, your dreams, your future hopes. Cherish those moments of joy, fulfillment, or personal victory. Remember, a vision board is as much a tribute to your past as it is a blueprint for your future.

Take time out to introspect. What makes you happy? Which goals are non-negotiable ? What life changes would bring you closer to your ideal self? These are not light questions to ponder over. But they’re instrumental in guiding your vision board creation process.

Brainstorm a Vision for Various Life Areas

Often, people only think about career or money-related goals. But life’s so much more than that. Branch out . Propose goals for health, relationships, hobbies, spiritual development, or personal growth. This broad-spectrum approach will create a comprehensive vision board that encompasses your complete life dreams .

Remember, there’s no such thing as too many ideas at this stage. Jot down everything. You’ll refine and curate them later. Use these inspirations to breathe life into your vision board. Enjoy the process.

Up next, we delve deeper into how to structure these inspirations on your board and give it a visual form. But that’s for another section.

Step 3: Choose Images and Words

Now that you’ve got your creative toolbox all prepped, it’s time to get down to business. You’re about to embark on a journey of choice. The images and words you choose for your vision board aren’t just decorative elements – they’re potent symbols of the dreams and goals you’re aspiring to achieve. Turn this scavenger hunt into a thought-provoking, soul-searching exercise.

Dive headfirst into your pile of magazines or your digital trove of images. Look out for pictures that catch your eye or words that resonate with your soul. Maybe it’s a photograph of a peaceful log cabin by a lake that symbolizes your dream of a tranquil retirement. Or perhaps it’s the word ‘Confident’ boldly printed across a page that echoes your desire for self-assuredness.

Once you’ve gathered your images and words, sort them out. Decide which ones align most closely with your life visions. Evaluate your options and ask yourself whether they correlate with your ambitions or simply capture your fancy.

Remember, this step isn’t just about choosing alluring visuals. It’s about selecting symbols that depict the essence of your aspirations. Think of each image or word as a visual affirmation of what you want to attract into your life. This stage really helps you delve deeper into your dreams and see what you truly desire.

Depending on your preference, you might want to categorize your images and words based on different life aspects such as:

  • Career goals
  • Health and wellness objectives
  • Relationship aspirations
  • Hobbies and passion projects
  • Personal growth landmarks

Take your time on this . Do not rush the process. It’s essential that the images and words chosen really mean something to you. They’ll form the basis of your vision board and be prominent reminders of your ambitions.

With your images and words ready to go, you’ll have a pile of potential waiting to come alive on your vision board. As for shaping these elements into a coherent board view…well, that’s the journey to come. Keep your tools close and your spirits high. You’re on the right path.

Step 4: Arrange and Design Your Vision Board

Now it’s showtime! Take all of those gripping images and words you’ve poured your time into and start to arrange them on your board. Please note that there’s no right or wrong way to do this. Your vision board is about you and your dreams , so its design should reflect that!

One important aspect of the arrangement process is the categorization of your images and words. While setting up your board, you can decide to mix everything up or keep different life aspects (career, health, relationships, hobbies, and personal growth) in separate areas. Again, it all depends on what feels right for you.

Creating your vision board is not just about sticking pieces of paper onto a board. It’s a highly personal, engaging, and meaningful process. So, when you are arranging your elements, think of creating a visual journey that represents your future aspirations.

Another crucial thing to consider is the layout. Ensure your board exhibits a flow, a coherent connection of the images, words, and their possible outcome. Try balancing color, size, and the theme of your items as well. A well-designed board is not just beautiful to look at – it also makes the visioning process more enjoyable and inspiring.

Feel free to get creative, and moreover, allow the process to be therapeutic. Letting go of preconceived layouts or designs can lead to an arrangement that’s more authentic and true to you. So, remember, this isn’t an art contest. There’s no rush. Let it evolve organically over time.

Okay! Now it’s time to secure those elements onto your board. You can use glue, pins, or sticky backed plastic, whichever suits your style. Be thoughtful about your choice, though. You may want to rearrange your visions later on, right?

Your progress in the process of creating your vision board is obvious! So, what’s next you ask? Well, beyond arranging and designing, lies the final step which involves reviewing and refining. Keep reading for more insights on this.

Step 5: Display and Use Your Vision Board

Alright, so it’s done. You’ve put together a great vision board. It’s a piece of art filled with your visions, dreams, and goals. Now, let’s move onto our next stage: displaying and using your masterpiece.

First up, location matters . Find a spot that is always in your sight. Whether that’s your home office, above your desk, or even on the refrigerator door. It’s important to place your board where you’ll see it often. That way, you constantly engage with your goals and aspirations.

Secondly, don’t just hang it and forget it. A vision board isn’t just a pretty piece of decor. Make sure to actively interact with it. Look at your vision board on a daily basis. Spend some time each morning and evening reflecting on your visions and affirmations. This won’t simply remind you of your dreams, it’ll also fuel your motivation to make them come true.

Moreover, don’t hesitate to make changes to your board. Your goals and visions might evolve over time, and it’s completely fine. Feel free to add, remove, or change elements to match your current thoughts and desires.

No article worth its salt would skip the importance of taking action . Yes, seeing your dreams and goals can inspire you. However, it’s the actions you take that turn these dreams into reality. Don’t just admire your vision board. Make a plan, set your objectives, and start taking steps toward achieving them.

May Your Board Reflect Your Dreams

So there you have it! Creating your own vision board isn’t as daunting as it might seem. Remember, it’s all about reflecting your dreams and aspirations. Don’t fret about the layout or theme, just let your creativity flow. Secure your images and words however you want – glue, pins, or sticky backed plastic, it’s all good!

Once you’ve got your board, find a spot where you’ll see it every day. Engage with it, reflect on your visions, and watch as they evolve over time. But don’t stop there. Take action, make a plan, and start turning those dreams into reality. After all, your vision board is just the beginning. It’s what you do after that truly counts. So go on, start creating your vision board today and step into a future you’ve designed.

How To Create An Inspiring Online Vision Board

' src=

Everyone has different goals that they want to achieve in various areas of their life.

It could be to live in a fancy home, becoming financially independent, learn a new skill, relocate to a new country, or change a bad habit.

However, identifying your goal is not enough. You need to understand what the goal means, how it will affect you, and how you can achieve it.

One helpful tool that can fully cater to your goals is a vision board. A vision board is a simple but effective way to keep you focused and motivated in the pursuit of your dreams.

The main idea behind a vision board is the visual reminders and inspirational materials on the board, which creates a physical representation of your goal, making it tangible and real.

Vision boards are becoming so popular that people now host vision board parties and are building vision board communities.

Creating a vision board is easier than you think. In this article, I’ll explain all the processes that you’ll need to create your own inspiring vision board and also some apps and websites that you can use to create your online vision board.

This may be your most important first step into living your dream life, so brace yourself.

Great! Let’s get started.

What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is a visualization tool that helps you set clear aspirations and goals for your life so that you can grow and transform yourself into what you have planned.

Some people may refer to a vision board as a dream board. However, they both hold the same meaning because they show you where you are now, where you are heading, and where you want to be in years.

A vision board is an actual physical representation of your goals and aspirations, and it’s one of the most valuable visualization tools available for anyone. The saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words,” definitely holds a lot of truth here.

In 2016, TD bank carried out a survey on 500 small business owners and 1,127 individuals in the United States to determine the impact of vision boards in achieving their goals. According to the survey, over 80% of business owners believed that vision boards helped them develop and achieve their business goals.

How vision boards influence business owners in achieving their goals

A vision board is an invaluable asset for personal goals, business goals and interpersonal goals.

You can create a vision board for a single goal or a series of goals. You can also make a vision board individually or with a trusted person.

Really, whatever goals you want to achieve and whatever your aspirations are, a vision board is a great instrument that can help you actualize them all.

Let’s look at these four striking reasons why having a vision board can be helpful.

A Vision Board Enables You to Focus on What You Really Want.

I’m sure you think about the things you want to achieve a lot, but how often do you focus on them?

A vision board offers you the opportunity to not only think about your goals and aspirations but also critically focus on them.

You have the time to reflect and adequately examine your goals and what you want to achieve from life.

At this point, certain things may begin to pull on you. Some others may become tiresome, and you begin to lose interest in them. You could even add some more goals to your list.

A Vision Board Helps You Become Flexible.

It’s not uncommon to limit yourself to your goals strictly. However, doing this can make you lose touch with your creative side.

Having a vision board provides an effective way for you to explore creative and random stuff rather than the generic stuff you are used to.

Doing this can afford you the opportunity to pick on some new ideas that will help you attain success.

A Vision Board Keeps You on Track.

You get to see the goals and aspirations you have set for yourself daily on your vision board.

What other form of reminder is better than this?

A vision board represents your goals with images and pictures, which help you passionately connect with them and strengthen your mind because the mind responds quickly to visual stimulation .

The Physiology of Visual Communication

So, even when you face a setback, you already have a strong will built from the daily visualization of your goals.

A Vision Board Helps You Have Fun While Trying to be Successful.

Success to many people might mean working hard, and while that is true, a vision board provides a fun and stress-free way of working hard and achieving your goals.

Right there on the vision board, you can offload all your deepest and rawest inspirations without any judgments.

You also don’t have to organize or beautify your boards. Just have fun with putting the pictures up, changing them, and doing whatever feels right to you.

Why Vision Boards Work

The human mind is like a machine, equipped towards making you successful with every action you take. But how often do you utilize the full potential of your mind?

A vision board ensures that you exercise your mind regularly, which will give you a clear picture of what you really want, help you create a more vivid vision of how you can easily achieve your goals and aspirations, help you become successful, and make you live an abundant life .

Who wouldn’t want to live an abundant life?

There are three significant factors that make vision boards work. Let’s look at them.

Visualization

Visualization is almost as powerful as performing an action.

An exercise psychologist compared people who went to the gym to exercise with those that carried out the exercise in their mind.

The result showed a 30% increase in the muscle mass of people who went to the gym to exercise and an unbelievable 13.5% increase in the muscle mass of people who carried out the exercise in their minds.

mental training increased muscle mass

If Visualization is that powerful, what better way to think positively about your goals and dreams than to have a visual representation of them?

Vision boards take your goals, dreams, and aspirations and turn them into something real and tangible. So this way, your mind trains your body for that reality, and you become motivated to achieve all that you have imagined.

Creating your own vision board helps you become specific in choosing what goals are important and worthy enough of you. The limited space on the board also allows you to only focus on your most important goals and desires.

Right on your vision board, you can see your choices and improve on them.

For instance, you can decide to put a picture of your dream home on the vision board. You can either represent it with one photo or a collage of different images you want in your home.

These choices are placed right in front of you, and you may even make changes to the home by removing whatever you lose interest in and replacing it with your new interest.

This simple decision-making process sends you an obvious message of how you want your life to be and sends the universe a personalized message about your life.

Consistency

Consistent brand presentation increases a brand's revenue by an average of 23% .

That’s how powerful consistency is, and creating vision boards afford you the chance to apply consistency in achieving your goals.

Constantly looking at your goals and aspirations every day allows you to visualize them consistently. That will help train your mind and body to accept that reality and manifest your desires.

If you have a burning desire to achieve your goals and aspirations or perhaps you are unclear about what you want in life, then creating a clear vision board is necessary.

Let’s look at the easy steps involved in creating your own vision board.

Step 1: Plan Your Vision Board

Time and time again, vision boards have proven to be a very useful tool in goal achievements.

However, getting your vision board ready doesn't just happen out of the blues. They work for you when you work for them.

So, you should plan and ensure that everything you need for your vision board is ready before you start designing.

Here's how you can perfectly plan your vision board .

Define Your Goals

The first step in planning your vision board is to define your goals. You may be clear about your next steps in life, but you should also have a clearer definition of what they are, how to achieve them, and how it will affect other areas of your life.

Wondering how important defining your goal is? Let's see the reasons below.

  • It gives you the clarity of what you want for your life.
  • It helps you understand why you want the goals.
  • It motivates you to work hard to achieve your goals.
  • It gives you the confidence you need to achieve even the most tasking aspect of your goal.

I've outlined three strategic steps that can help you define your goals easily. Let's look at them.

Visit Your Previous Successes

You will need some form of a reminder that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Here's where your past achievements will come in handy (everyone has one).

Think about any successes you have had in the past, the process it took you to get there, and how you felt.

That's the first step, and it's a very important step because it will help stir up your confidence, keep you motivated, and even help you dream bigger as you continue to define your goals.

Brainstorm Your Goals

It's not unusual for you to switch directions and change your goals. However, the disadvantage of doing this is that you'll make no progress at all.

Think of it like baking bread but using a bad yeast. So, each time you add the yeast, and it doesn't rise, you have to start mixing the ingredients all over.

Brainstorming your goals is more than just listing the goals and aspirations you have for your life. You have to get a clearer picture of what you want because that will guide you into becoming who you want to be.

While brainstorming your goals, answer these questions in the image alongside.

brainstorm your goals

Please, don't be in a hurry to answer all these questions immediately. Take your time to brainstorm and give the correct answer to each of the questions.

Build an Action Plan

So, you have discovered what your goal is. It's time to build a plan that you can work with.

One way to do that is to divide your goals into long term and short term goals.

For instance, if your goal is to start making money from YouTube , that will be your long term goal, and the short term goal will be the steps you'll need to achieve the goal such as determining the type of content you want to put out on your YouTube channel, opening the YouTube channel, and monetizing the channel.

When defining your goals, it will be best if you accompany it with a journal. Writing down your goals and aspirations will help you keep your thoughts together and allow you to self-reflect on your decisions.

Source for Your Inspirational Materials

Don't expect to find everything that inspires you at once. You will be doing this for a while, so here are places where you can find materials that can inspire you.

  • Magazines and Newspapers: These are great places to find quotes, images, and sayings relevant to your goals and aspirations. If you are not a magazine reader, you can ask friends to give you anyone they no longer need. You can also get some from any local thrift store near you. They usually cost a dollar or two.
  • Internet: The internet has been a center of information since 1983. More than half of the world is connected to the internet, which means that you can get an unlimited supply of perfect pictures, quotes, and sayings that represent your goals and dreams.

business plans vision board

You can find them on platforms like Google, Pinterest, Instagram, Medium, and Twitter. You can also find interesting quotes and sayings by some of your favorite people on their websites and blog pages.

  • Messages from family and friends: If you have any messages from your family or your friends that have stuck with you, then you should consider pinning it on your board. If the message was sent via an electronic means, then you could write it down on a piece of paper and pin it on your board when ready.

You can create a folder, either digital or physical, to save all your inspirational materials for easy reach when you start designing your dream board.

Include Daily Affirmations

It is possible to get discouraged at some point. We all have that voice in our head that tells us why we can't or shouldn't achieve our goals.

Friends and family may also tell you how your goal doesn't suit you and how difficult it may be to achieve them.

That's why you need to include reciting affirmative statements every time you look at your board to keep your positive energy going.

Affirmations influence your subconscious mind to access positive beliefs and boost your self-confidence . However, stick to short affirmative statements because the longer ones may be difficult to remember.

See the image below for some examples of daily affirmations.

Place Your Vision Boards Where You Can See Them Everyday

One of the benefits a vision board offers is that it allows you to visualize your goals and aspirations.

So, you must place your vision board where you can see it every day.

Here's how you can achieve this.

  • Determine what time of the day works best for you to review your vision board. I'll suggest either early in the morning or late at night before you sleep. However, you may decide to review your vision board more than once a day. Just make sure that you don't set unrealistic targets and overwhelm yourself.
  • Having this time frame in mind, make a list of the parts of your home that you go to every day.
  • Then select the places that are most appropriate to have a vision board in. For example, having your vision board in your bathroom may not be the perfect idea because of damages that can be caused by water.

Last word on planning your vision board

In planning your vision board, you have to give room for patience.

Surely, a vision board helps you achieve your goals, but it doesn't just start immediately you place the last picture or quote on the board. Investing time into your vision board will ensure that it works for you.

Be patient with your journey, and don't put a limit to your dreams and aspirations.

You should also be deliberate about reaching your goals. If you plan on reviewing your vision board in the morning or at night or both, ensure that you stay true to it.

When you start missing out on your time, your zeal begins to drop, and before you know it, you are back to the point where you were before you started designing the online vision board.

Step 2: Design Your Dream Board

The design of your online dream board is just as important as your goals. Your dream board should contain as much energy, motivation, and positivity you need to reach your goals. It should also be something that you’ll always notice and can easily make sense of.

Let’s see how you can design your dream board perfectly.

Select the Right Quotes, Images, and Sayings

Your dream board reflects who you are and how you want your future to look like. Therefore, you must choose the right quotes and images relevant to what you want.

Whatever you put on your dream board should include the result you are aiming for, steps that can lead you there, and even your present state.

For instance, if your goal is to become a high-paying brand ambassador , you can have a picture of your role model in that aspect, quotes and sayings that can encourage you to continue working hard, pictures of brands you'll love to work with, and a picture of your present state pinned on your dream board.

Get the Items You’ll Need for Your Vision Board

Dream boards are easy and simple to create. Let’s look at the items that you’ll need.

However, note that this is just a general list. Your dream board can have other personal items of your choice, which are not listed here.

  • Board: I’ll advise you to choose a soft board like a corkboard or a poster board that is not only affordable but keeps tape on long enough and allows pins to go through easily.
  • Craft Supplies: These are materials that you need to fix your board together. Examples include scissors, pins, glue sticks, stapler and staple pins, tape, fun, markers, stickers, and whatever excites you.
  • Inspirational Materials: This is an important part of your vision board. Gather all the materials that inspire you and which you’ll like to look at every day. They could be photos, images, quotes, sayings of famous people or your mentors, inspirational note cards from family and friends, and just about anything that inspires you.

Position the Materials Properly

After getting the materials, you will have to place them properly. It’s a very easy process, and here’s how you can achieve it.

  • Fix the mood of the room: You will be using a lot of mental energy and articulating your thoughts, so ensure that the mood of the room is perfect. Clear the room, turn off any distraction, and turn on some inspiring music.
  • Cut out your inspirational stuff: You can decide to cut up the quotes, images, or saying from magazines into different shapes and sizes. After cutting them, lay everything out to properly determine how you want them to be placed on the board. You can even arrange them on the board without gluing them to get an idea of what you are doing.
  • Place your inspirational materials on the board: Personally, I like to leave space in between each item so that the board doesn’t look so jam packed and untidy. But if you love to see the images and pictures overlap each other, then you can huddle them together. Whatever your choices are, the vision board should feel personal and express everything about you in it.
  • Give yourself time: Don’t expect to get everything right at that moment. Even after laying the images and planning out the pattern you want the images to appear on the board, you may still get some things wrong or even change your mind. It’s perfectly okay. Give yourself some hours to fix your board together.
  • Have fun: Although mapping out your goals and aspirations is an important aspect of your life, you can make it a remarkable one. Relax and have fun aligning your goals and aspirations together. Sip drinks, chew on a fruit or snack. If you are socially active, host a vision board party. When you include fun into designing your dream board, you will subconsciously look forward to re-designing your dream board or designing other dream boards.

Personalize Your Dream Board

The way you arrange your board will reflect the type of person you are.

If you are a free-spirited person, your dream board will portray a garbled affair of images and quotes that suit your needs.

If you are a detail-oriented person, you will probably pay so much attention to details such as the shape of the images, color coordination, and pattern arrangement of your stuff on the board.

However, you can further personalize your board by doing the following.

Take photos of yourself in any memorable place relevant to your goals and pin it on the board.

For instance, if you are designing a board for your dream to own a profitable online store , make someone take a picture of you with the items you want to sell and pin it on your board.

Include a relevant achievement or disappointment you have had in the pursuit of your goals. For instance, you may pin the welcome message or rejection message you got from the platform you wish to sell on your board.

Take a photo of your progress and pin them on your board. If you have finalized your store registration process, bought or made the items you want to sell in your store, or even had your first customer, take a photo and pin them on your dream board.

Step 3: Best Online Vision Board Apps and Websites

The scarcity of materials, time constraints, and lack of storage space may cause the creation of a traditional vision board impossible.

However, an online vision board, created via a website or an app can serve as a more practical and reliable solution.

There are several tools that you can use to create your vision board online.

But, unlike the traditional vision board, where you are in control and can physically pin your ideas and goals without any restrictions, the same cannot be said for online vision boards.

Let’s look at the four main factors to consider when choosing your online vision board platform.

  • Unlimited customization options: Because of your limitation to full control over any online vision board platform, a good platform should provide a wide range of options that will allow you to design, edit and customize your board to your taste.
  • Wide range of choices: A good online vision board platform should have numerous images, quotes, and other vision board materials available for use. Even though you may already have some materials, opt for a platform that provides you more materials that can help you stay motivated.
  • Easy to use: You are trying to create an online vision board, not find the answer to a complex quadratic equation. So, the online vision board platform should be straightforward such that you can easily find your way around it and create your vision board with ease.
  • High-level Security: As much as you may want to share your goals and aspirations with close friends and family, choosing to make your vision board public should be your personal decision. A good online vision board platform will keep your goals secured and private by providing security related questions before the vision board can be accessed.

Here’s a list of the best online vision board apps and websites.

Step 4: How to Use Your Vision Board to Reach Your Goals

Owning a vision board is great, but there are other tactical ways you can maximize the benefits of your vision board to reach your goal.

Let’s look at the ways you can achieve that.

Use a Journal Alongside Your Vision Board

Have you considered journaling your goals and aspirations?

Visualization is an important facet of a vision board that can help you reach your goal. However, pairing your vision board with a journal is just like that sauce that you never knew would taste so good with your fries.

When some adults had a biopsy on their arms for research purposes, 76% of the group that journaled their thoughts healed perfectly in less than 12 days.

Healing rate of people with injuries

What does this mean?

Journaling your goals and aspirations helps you stay focused and provides you with an actionable plan.

A journal will simplify the steps involved in achieving your goals so that you don’t get overwhelmed by the bigger picture, making it easier for you to track your progress.

Here’s how to use your journal.

  • Research and find out the necessary steps you need to take to reach your goal and write them in the right order that they need to be achieved. For instance, if you want to open an Etsy online store , you should write down a list of the steps you’ll need to take in the correct order, like determining what you want to sell, registering your account, naming your store, and listing your items in your store.
  • Create a sub-list for all the requirements of each of the steps. So, if you want to create a sub-list for that example above, here’s what it will look like.
  • Determine what you want to sell: For a store like Etsy, you can only sell handmade crafts and vintage. So, if you have other regular items, you may consider selling them on other eCommerce platforms.
  • Register your account: You should open a business email address and create a strong password.
  • Name your store: Craft out a good business name that tells people what your business is about immediately they see the name.
  • List your items: Items are listed on Etsy, and for each listing, you will pay a sum of. It’s different for other eCommerce platforms. So, determine how many items you want to be listed in your sore and calculate the cost.
  • With every step that you achieve, celebrate it. Write a little note about it in your journal. You may also get stickers and place on every step you have achieved.

Since all these steps are in your journal, you should also consider putting something that represents all these steps on your vision board. It could be a piece of paper with a little inscription on it or an image, whatever feels right to you.

Use Other Materials that are not Paper

Most vision boards consist of a collage of images and cut-out papers containing quotes and sayings.

These materials are an important part of a vision board, but you can also consider using non-paper items to represent your goals and aspirations.

For instance, if your goal is to build your dream house, you may pin the leaf of the type of grass you want on your yard or the material you like for your home décor.

You may also paint a random clothing material with the color and type of paint you will like in your house and then pin it on your board.

Office inspired online vision board

Whatever you can add on your board that will provide a sense of touch and feels is welcomed as it will help you maintain your interest and remain focused as you work to reach your goals.

Draw Your Dreams

There are times when you may not find the perfect representation of your goals or dreams?

In those times, you should bring out your creative side and draw them out.

You could draw or paint on a separate piece of paper and pin it on your board, or you could draw or paint directly on your board.

Even if you aren’t handy with a pencil or paintbrush, you shouldn’t let that stop you from drawing what you have imagined about your future.

That’s your personal board, so be free to express yourself. It may not be the perfect drawing or painting, but you understand what it means, and that’s all that matters.

Drawing out your dreams and goals adds reality to it. That means you know what you want and you are motivated to achieve it.

Trigger Your Sense of smell

Normally, vision boards maximize your sense of sight in helping you reach your goals. You see your goals daily, and so you’re able to visualize them just as you’d want your future to be.

But do you know that you can also explore the benefit of your sense of smell to reach your goals?

The sense of smell is the third most important sense of all the five senses, and we are most likely to remember 35% of whatever we smell .

How well does the human senses retain information

That’s why involving your sense of smell with your vision board will help your goals become real, tangible, and achievable.

For instance, if owning a bakery is one of your goals, you can include a cinnamon stick to your board.

You can also consider adding smells that you love even though they are not particularly related to your goals. You could add a splash of your favorite essential oil onto the leaf of the grass you want in your dream home or any surface at all and pin it on your board.

Track Your Progress

Write the date you started using your vision board and your location on the back of the board.

That way, when you go back to it for reference, you can always remember where you were, what you were doing at that time, and the emotions you felt.

It’s a great way to evaluate the analogy between “where you were then” and “Where you are now.”

Listen to Your Feelings

How you feel when you look at the image representation of your goals on your board will help you determine if it’s the right path you should be taking.

If you are having the slightest feeling of doubt about any of the images there, then you should strictly evaluate your goals and replace the image if needed.

For instance, if your goal is to launch a 6-figure online course , you can pin a picture of your module arrangement on the board.

However, if you start having any feeling of doubts when you look at the picture of your module arrangement, evaluate your goals, and ask yourself some important questions relevant to your goals such as:

  • Are the courses too large?
  • Is the timeframe unattainable?
  • Am I really ready to teach these courses?

Once you have evaluated your goals, get rid of the pictures, and replace them with images or items that represent your recent decisions about the goal.

You may also change your mind about that goal. That’s okay too. However, make sure that you properly think about your new goal before placing it on your board.

Inspiring Vision Board Ideas and Examples to Achieve Your Goals

Creating a vision board helps you clarify your goals and shape your mind into something that will stay long with you even after the board comes down.

However, the ideas on your vision board must sync with your goals and keep you motivated as you reach for your goals.

If you’re wondering what inspiring idea to incorporate into your vision board to help you achieve your goals, I’ve outlined them below. Let’s look at them.

Words have a way of impacting your thoughts and actions. It can motivate or demoralize you and can also represent the experiences you dream to have.

They are that important!

The ability of words to describe feelings makes it a good vision board idea that can inspire you to achieve your goals.

You can search in magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and brochures for words that describe your goals and aspirations, a character you would love to develop, a place you want to be, or a feeling you want to experience. When you find them, cut them out and store them.

You can alternatively search for words digitally. More than five billion people have a digital presence, so you are sure to find words relevant to your goals there.

When you find the words, write them down boldly on cut papers or print them out. Some famous words on most vision boards include joy, happiness, money, love, and peace.

Personal Affirmations

Personal affirmations are statements you write for yourself. They are powerful vision board ideas used to break mental limits or change one’s perspective about a particular subject.

Personal affirmations improve the neuropsychological functions of the human brain and keep the mind ready for improvement. It also helps to reduce stress, anxiety, and unhealthy defensiveness.

When writing your personal affirmations, use statements that start with the phrase “I am…” because such statements positively challenge your limiting ideologies concerning different areas of life like money, career, relationship, health, and education.

Whatever affirmations you come up with should stretch your expectations beyond your present possibilities.

A simple hack to writing personal affirmations is to think of encouraging words you can say to someone else in your shoes at that particular time. When you’ve thought of the words, make them yours.

If you don’t want to use art paintings or doodles, pictures are an excellent alternative. However, you can use them both if you like.

Pictures are naturally appealing. This is possible because of the visualization factor which is the major idea behind pictures. So, your vision board should have pictures that can communicate what you want to feel.

Photo collage for your online vision board

A photo of a happy face can represent feelings such as gratitude and jubilation. It can also include pictures of successful individuals in line with your goal.

Your imaginations can come to life on your vision board when you search for pictures similar to them, and that’s a good motivation agent towards achieving the goals you’ve imagined.

For instance, you could look for the picture of a place or country you’d like to visit, or food you’d like to eat after you have successfully achieved your goal.

Pictures of different activities you want to engage in, such as judo classes and fitness exercises, can also be added to your vision board. You can cut out these pictures from magazines or old newspapers.

Though you may not have written your favorite quote, its impact on your mind is limitless.

A good quote on your vision board will either form a new mindset in your head or help you express an experience or idea you value or want to have.

You can get quotes from novels, your role models, poems, songs, tutors, or TV shows. You can cut them out, print them from your computer, or just write them down on paper.

Whichever source the quotes come from, they should embody accurate and deep-felt thoughts that express the goals or experience.

Loose Sketches or Artworks

Artworks have a way of passing messages across to whoever is keen to glance at it.

However, artworks you created yourself will better pass inspiring messages to push you towards what you want to achieve.

Your art doesn’t need to be the ‘Louvre’ standard before it makes the cut for a vision board. That’s your vision board, and no one is going to grade you or your art.

Loose Sketches or Artworks for your dream board

You can easily use doodles or loose sketches to represent your goal. You can also tweak your creativity a bit and doodle your personal affirmations or your favorite quote.

You can make sketches of your future plans, or you can alternatively use colors to represent your thoughts and expectations without paying much attention to the form.

Lists can help you outline your goals into practical steps and your vision board becomes a journey of fun as you achieve each step.

When you accomplish the outlined plans on your list, the thrill of fulfillment can inspire you to continue executing other plans or even start a new vision board list.

Your vision board list can contain who and what you need to be grateful about, songs which inspire you, courses you want to take, places you want to take vacation trips to, and books you want to read, which are important towards achieving your goals.

The more vibrant and attractive your list appears on the vision board, the more appealing your goals appear. There are no rules for this. You can use colors, stylish fonts, or whatever suits your needs on your board!

Underneath every goal lies a root intention. Reminding yourself why the goal is essential is a good way to inspire yourself to succeed at that goal.

For instance, the intention behind your goal of starting a podcast can be to become a high-earning podcaster or to educate people about a particular subject. Whatever it is, you can creatively include the intentions physically on your vision board.

One creative idea is to form a table for your intentions and the steps you’ll take to achieve them.

So, becoming a high-earning podcaster, which is the intention behind your goals, will be written in the row of the table.

Then, you can outline the steps involved in making those intentions a reality in the columns.

Another creative way to place your intentions and goals on your vision board is to make a tree with them. Your intentions can serve as the roots, the steps involved in achieving the goal can be the trunk, and your goals can be the leaves.

Creative, isn’t it?

Seeing this daily will inspire you to achieve your goals while also having fun going about it.

Souvenirs and Gifts

Souvenirs and gifts are powerful motivational tools towards achieving your goal. They are also excellent reminders of your positive relationships, associations, and achievements.

If you have gifts or souvenirs associated with your goal, you can attach it to your vision board. If the gift is large and cannot be pinned directly on the board, you can take a picture of the gift and print it out.

Only make sure to use objects that give you strong emotions towards achieving your goal.

Although I’ve outlined the ways you can use a vision board to reach your goal, here are some examples that can help you understand how to use a vision board better and get your creative juices flowing.

Online Vision Board FAQ

Using a vision board for goal setting is achievable because of the visualization benefit that a vision board offers. These benefits include helping you activate your creative minds and keeping you motivated and focused on the bigger picture. Therefore, you should ensure that you place the vision board where you can view it often throughout the day. Remember to always look at it every day during the times that work best for you. That will give you a daily fresh reminder of the goals at hand. You can also add other practices alongside your daily visualization practice like journaling, paying attention to the way you feel about your goals, and using your other senses, such as smell and touch. Doing this will help you engage with your vision board closely, which will, in turn, guide your actions and progress toward  attaining unlimited prosperity  and a successful reality just as you have envisioned.

Anything going on your vision board should inspire and motivate you because the purpose of a vision board is to prompt you to take steps that will help you achieve your goals. However, before you think about putting anything on your vision board, you must first discover your goal. There are a lot of things that you may not have noticed about your goal until you think critically about them. When you find out your goals, you can then find the materials that represent your goals and motivate you to be better. Material ideas can include handwriting your goal or favorite quotes on a paper, getting images that represent your goals and steps that you’ll take to reach the goal, and whatever interests you.

It could be confusing if you mingle different goals together, say your business goal and your health goal, on the same vision board. So, you should ensure that you focus on a goal solely on one vision board. If you have more than one goal, you can create many vision boards for different areas of your life. Here’s how you can achieve that. First, discover what your goals are in the different areas of your life. These areas could include career, money, health, relationship, travel, personal growth (including spirituality and social life), and education. After discovering the goals, choose the ones you want to focus on. You can create two to three vision boards for your goals in the different areas of your life. Some people may even be able to focus on more than three vision boards.  However, avoid creating a vision board for all the areas of your life at once. That’s because focusing on every area of your life at once could become overwhelming and may cause you to lose concentration and neglect all your hard work.

There are so many other celebrities and entrepreneurs that have used and are still using vision boards. When Barack Obama was contesting for the 2009 United States election, Oprah Winfrey, one of his outspoken supporters, created a  vision board for her goal  of supporting him to win the election. Just beside his picture pinned on the vision board was a picture of a dress she had planned to wear to his inauguration ceremony. A few months later, he won the election and also the one after that. Katy Perry discovered a vision board when she was only nine years old. She had always wanted to win a Grammy Award someday, and so she pinned a photo of Selena Quintanilla holding her Grammy Award on her board. Fifteen years later, Katy Perry was nominated for a Grammy Award. Other celebrities and entrepreneurs, including Steve Harvey, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ellen Degeneres, and Beyonce, have all had something great to say about their experience using a vision board. Like them, you can also achieve whatever your goal is. These celebrities and entrepreneurs do not have any special powers. They only utilized the power of visualization.

Creating a vision board is a straightforward and determined way to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. You will have to define your goals, draft out your plan, and start working. As you define your goals and draft out the actionable plans for your goal, you may have some concerns about your plans. Even the images or quotes you pinned to your board may not make sense to you after some time, or you may feel the need to add more items. You can decide to update these changes on the board as the need arises. However, you can also do a general update weekly or monthly to reflect on all the items on the board and check if you are still in line with them. I’ll advise you to leave blank spaces on your board when designing to provide room for new things (because there will definitely be new things coming to the board).

Essentially, a vision journal is a representation of your goals with handwritten texts and other forms of materials. Here are some benefits that a vision journal offers. – A vision journal helps you to clarify the vision you have for different areas of your life. – A vision journal helps you to keep track of your progress. – A vision journal helps you to become more aware of your strengths and weaknesses. – A vision journal keeps you accountable for completing every step to achieve your goal. There’s something different about writing with your hand rather than typing. Once you have written on a page, it stays on the page and on your mind. So, you are constantly reminded, even by your subconscious, about achieving your goals and living your reality. Vision board and vision journal are quite the same because they help you stay focused on achieving your goal. They contain nearly the same content. The only difference is that you can carry a vision journal anywhere with you, while a vision board will have to remain where you have placed it.

Visualization is the formation of a mental image of something. When we visualize an action, we stimulate the same brain region activated when we perform an action. For example, if your goal is to  become a high-earning blogger , and then you visualize signing up on a blogging platform, it stimulates the same part of the brain that is activated when you actually sign up on the blogging platform. That’s why you can stay motivated and confident about your goals because your brain is convinced that you are actually performing the action.  Visualization also triggers the law of attraction because once you begin to think about your goals, you begin to manifest various pleasant experiences related to your goals.

Manifest Your Dream Life with Vision Board

Vision boards have an immense ability to keep you focused and motivate you to achieve your goals.

However, a vision board is only as beneficial as the work you are willing to put into it.

You have also seen the best online vision apps and websites and inspiring ideas and examples that you can use to create your vision board and reach your goal.

All you need to do now is put into practice all these steps you have learned and create your own vision board.

What Exactly is a Vision Board?

The most basic definition of a vision board is that it’s a collection of images, quotes, and symbols that have meaning to you and that represent something you want to achieve.

A vision board is a tool that helps you see your goals. Using visual images can help you define your goals and focus on them in a different way than simply writing them out. It can help you  see the big picture in your business .

The Power of a Vision Board

  • The act of creating a vision board helps you hone in on what you really want. Before making your board, you might have a general idea of your long-term goals. But in choosing the images and other pieces to include on your board, you’ll develop a tangible image of your desired result.
  • When you look at your vision board, take a moment to visualize yourself having achieved all the goals and dreams that you put on your board. When you do that often enough, those images become embedded in your subconscious.
  • You’re more likely to achieve your goals when they are top of mind. When you see your vision board every day, you will find yourself thinking about your goals on a regular basis.
  • Your vision board can help to keep you motivated through tough times. You can look at your vision board for an instant reminder of why you’re working hard now and what you stand to gain from forging on through the struggles.

What Should I Put on My Vision Board?

The simple answer is anything that motivates and inspires you.

Most vision boards include a combination of images and inspirational words.

Images – Images are the most common item found on vision boards. These can be photos, drawings, mind maps, sketches, or anything else that has some meaning to you.

For example, if freedom to work from anywhere in the world is one of your goals, you might include pictures of someone typing on a laptop near the ocean in a tropical locale.

One of my long-term goals is to have an outdoor office. So, my vision board includes a photo of a poolside gazebo. It’s not the exact gazebo that I want, but it represents the goal that I’m working toward.

Inspiring quotes and messages – Inspiration is different for everyone. You might choose to include inspirational Bible verses or words of encouragement from industry leaders or historical figures. Motivational quotes you find on social media can be a great addition. Or how about testimonials or nice comments from clients or peers? You might also include affirmations and your “word of the year.”

If you have  vision, mission, or values statements for your business , write them out and include them on your board. Seeing those statements on a daily basis will help ensure that your goals stay in tune with your “why.”

My vision board includes the phrases “Do It Scared” from Ruth Soukup and “Progress Over Perfection,” both reminders to step out of my comfort zone and just do it.

Creating a Vision Board for Your Business

Business goals are one of the most common topics of vision boards. You probably started your business because you wanted to create a better life for yourself and your family. It’s likely one of your driving motivations, which makes it the perfect focus for a vision board.

Know What You Want to Achieve

In order to achieve what you want, first, you have to know what you want.

When you’re creating your vision board for your business, consider the following questions:

  • What does your ideal work day look like?
  • Who is your perfect client?
  • What kinds of products do you want to produce?
  • What projects do you love?
  • Where will your office be and what does it look like?

Look for images, words, and other items that represent your ideal business day, your perfect client, and your ultimate dream job.

Create a List of Long-Term Goals

If you don’t have written goals, then grab a notebook or a large piece of paper and start brainstorming. List everything you want to do or accomplish in the next one to five years. Then narrow that list down to a few big things that you really want to focus on. Maybe you want to create a course or have a book traditionally published or be able to afford to join an expensive mastermind group.

Include Some Big Scary Goals

Don’t limit yourself to what you think is possible. Think big!

Maybe you have a goal to make a few thousand dollars a month with a work-from-home business. But, in your heart, you know that you really to build a business that will support your family, so that your husband can retire from the job he hates. Embrace that big, scary goal.

Don’t be afraid to look deep and express what you really want. When you look at your vision board filled with meaningful images, inspirational messages, and plenty of creativity, those big scary goals feel much more attainable.

What Do You Need to Make a Vision Board?

Now that you know what a vision board can do for your future goals and present state of mind, let’s talk about the actual process of putting it together.

Your vision board can be digital or physical.

Digital Vision Boards

An advantage of digital boards is that they are portable, so they can motivate and inspire you wherever you are. Plus, they’re easy to add to or edit as your goals and dreams change. Digital vision boards can be created with Canva, Photoshop, PowerPoint or some other image-editing tool.

Here’s an example of one of my digital vision boards that I created in Canva.

Physical Vision Boards

Physical vision boards might be made on poster board, bulletin boards, whiteboards, or even a wall in your office. You have endless creative options with a physical vision board, but it will obviously be less portable.

Vision Board Supplies

If you want to create a physical vision board, you’ll need some supplies:

  • A background (i.e. something to attach your images to) – poster board, cork board, whiteboard, blank art book, etc.
  • Old magazines to cut up for pictures
  • Colored pencils & markers
  • Colorful paper
  • A glue stick, tape, push pins, or magnets (depending on your background)
  • Stamps & ink pads

If you’re making it on the computer, you can do it for free with online images. But you may want to print a copy to keep near your workspace.

5 Steps to Creating a Vision Board for Your Business

You’ll follow the same steps to create a digital board or a physical board. The only difference will be if you are working with digital files or physical materials.

1. Find Your Meaningful Images

Look for images that capture your intention. You might be looking through old magazines or on Pinterest, Google Images, or stock photo sites. Don’t let yourself get caught up reading articles.  Concentrate on the images and the feelings they evoke. Does it make you happy? Does it bring to mind a particular goal?

Remember, you’re looking for images that represent your goal. Focus on the idea or feeling, rather than trying to find literal interpretations.

Cut out or save the images that capture the essence of your goals.

Tip:  If you are working with digital images, save them all to a secret Pinterest board so that you have them in one place for easy reference.

2. Collect Your Inspirational Words

Find the quotes, Bible verses, or words that motivate and inspire you. You can print them off the web, write them on colorful paper, or make your own quote images in a tool like Canva.

Tip: Pinterest is a great source for inspirational words to include on your vision board.  Simply do a search on “business quotes” and go from there.

3. Add Your Images & Words to Your Vision Board

Make a collage out of your photos and words. Arrange them on your background. Keep moving them around until the layout is visually pleasing to you.

Tip: If you are making a physical board, don’t glue or tape anything to your background until you have it just like you want it.

4. Add Decorative Elements to Your Board

Use pencils & markers or clip art to decorate your board. You can draw attention to certain images, add in dates and dollar figures, or just make it pretty.

5. Have Fun With It!

Don’t worry about making your board perfect. Your vision board is for you, so have fun creating it!

Use Your Vision Board Daily

For your vision board to work, you need to use it. Place it somewhere that you can see it every day and spend a few minutes visualizing your goals.

I have my digital vision board set as desktop wallpaper on my computer. I see it every morning when I turn on my computer and every night when I shut the computer down.

And be sure to look at your vision board when you are doing any kind of  business planning . It will help you stay on track with your high-level goals.

Achieving Your Goals With a Vision Board

Having a vision board as a tool in your toolbox increases the likelihood that you’ll achieve your goals. Here are a few important things to remember:

  • It’s your vision board. There is no right or wrong way to express your goals and dreams.
  • Think big! Your vision board should not be filled with things you can easily achieve next week or next month. Focus on goals that are one to five years out.
  • Your vision board will work better when you give it your attention for a few minutes every day.

It might seem like a small thing, but spending time creating your vision board can help you focus your efforts. It helps you make good long-term choices in where to invest time and money because you know where you want to go. And it’s a lot of fun.

How to Make a Business Vision Board in 5 Simple Steps

  • By Emma Bates
  • December 4, 2022

Does anyone else remember when Oprah got into the Law of Attraction? I have this memory of being a teenager and watching Oprah interview the women who wrote The Secret and having this totally skeptical reaction. Like “What the heck is she talking about???”

Fast forward a few years and I found myself creating a business vision board to help me reach my goals. I had to laugh at my earlier disbelief because even if you don’t believe in the Law of Attraction if you are a visual learner vision boards are awesome.

A business vision board is a great way to manifest and focus your goals, dreams, and aspirations. By carefully crafting what you want in life and in your business, these visualized goals become more tangible and achievable. But where do you start when it comes to making a business vision board? In this guide, we will provide step-by-step instructions for creating and making the most out of a vision board.

What is the Law of Attraction?

The Law of Attraction says that you will attract what you focus your attention on. When you focus on the negative things around you, that is the kind of energy you will have in your life. When you focus on positive things you will pull more positive energy into your life.

I don’t know how much of that I believe…but I do think that when you focus on negative or positive it affects how your brain sees your life. Kind of a glass-half-empty or half-full concept, life is what you expect to see.

Many Olympic athletes use visualization as part of their training, a form of the Law of Attraction. There is also scientific evidence that visualization can help patients heal from surgery faster and many doctors encourage their patients to meditate before undergoing procedures.

So if doctors and athletes are seeing results, imagine what using a vision board for your small businesses can help you achieve!

Why is Visualization So Powerful for Your Brain?

Visualizing your goals and desired outcomes is a powerful tool for your brain. By envisioning our desired outcomes, we are more likely to stay motivated and focused on our goals. This is because visualizing these goals stimulates the same parts of the brain as actually doing the task itself. In other words, when we visualize ourselves taking steps towards our goal, it can be just as powerful as actually working towards them.

The act of visualization has been shown to increase motivation, focus, and energy levels, and to help us stay organized and on track with our plans.

Visualization can also help us better understand complex concepts or tasks by giving us a mental picture of what we need to do. This can make it easier for us to break down large tasks into smaller, more manageable ones. Visualizing our goals also gives us a sense of ownership and control over them, which can make us more likely to achieve them.

Finally, visualization can also be used to help us work through difficult emotions or situations. By allowing us to see ourselves in a positive light, we can better cope with challenges and develop strategies to overcome them.

Understanding the Basics of a Business Vision Board

A business vision board is essentially a collection of images, words, and quotes that represent the goals and aspirations you have for your business. It is an effective way to stay organized and focused on what you want to achieve.

The Business Vision Board Process

1. Begin by writing down your business goals and aspirations.

If you haven’t taken the time to set out some long-term goals and then break them down into bite-size steps do it before you create your business vision board. Write your goals out by hand and then use that list as a guide when you start choosing pictures. You could even create a One Page Business Plan before you get started.

Think about the things that inspire you, the things you want in your life, and the things you’re passionate about. Ask yourself questions like:

  • What do I want to accomplish professionally?
  • What type of business owner do I want to be?
  • What experiences do I want to accomplish this year?

2. Think about what words or phrases evoke strong emotions in you.

These could be inspiring quotes, motivational mantras, or even just simple words that remind you of something important. You can find words online, or if you prefer, you can use magazines, newspapers, or other media sources that are readily available.

3. Include images that represent each of your goals.

For example, if one of your goals is to earn enough to travel more, you might include photos of different places around the world. You can use literal pictures of things, like a new car or a book published, or more ethereal goals such as helping other people get fit or learning a new crochet technique.

I also love to pull pictures that evoke a feeling. It can be hard to figure out how to represent finding a new relationship, but you can represent love with a simple heart.

Another idea is to make a collage with photos you took yourself.

4. Look for symbols that are meaningful to you.

This could be anything from a heart to a star to a butterfly. These symbols can be used to represent different aspects of your business goals.

5. Create a pleasing visual arrangement.

Once you have gathered the materials you want to use, it’s time to start arranging them on your board. Start by laying out the images, words, and quotes you have chosen in a visually appealing way. Consider how the colors and shapes of the elements interact with each other, and try to create a cohesive and balanced layout.

Place the images and quotes that are most meaningful to you in the center of the board, and then work your way outwards. I’ll also use stickers, washi tape, or doodles to add a personal touch. You can also add personal notes or reflections to help you remember and appreciate the messages in your vision board.

Should you include money amounts on your business vision board?

Honestly, this is a tough question to answer.

I am more of a visual person and don’t include specific numbers on my vision board business plan. But, if you are very analytical and it will help you to see the numbers every day, then feel free to include them.

A word of warning though… Numbers are only good to include if there is a plan behind them. Don’t just throw some random income goal on your board. Sit down and create a plan on HOW you will reach that goal by breaking it into quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals.

Business Vision Board Format Ideas

There are many different ways to format the vision boards that you can create. The materials you use to make them don’t need to be limited to just magazine cutouts, photos, and quotes either. Here are some different ideas and vision board formats that you can use when creating your own physical vision board:

  • Collage Boards: This type of vision board uses a variety of images, words, and quotes to create a visually appealing collage. These boards are perfect for those who want to express themselves in a creative way.
  • Goal Setting Boards: These boards focus on specific business goals or objectives that you want to achieve. You can include images, words, and quotes that will help to keep you motivated and on track as you work towards your goals.
  • Mind Map Boards: These boards use a visual representation of ideas and concepts to help you think through and plan out your goals. You can use mind maps to get an overview of the different aspects of a project or goal that you want to achieve.
  • Calendar Boards: A calendar board allows you to set deadlines for yourself and track your progress over time. This can help to keep you motivated and on track as you work towards your goals.
  • File Folder Boards: My own vision boards have usually been created on a piece of large cardboard, but it hit me recently that being a very tactile person I should create something I could hold. Luckily, The Artful Parent has directions for creating a portable one using file folders.
  • Digital Boards: This is a handy format if you want to be able to take your vision board wherever you go. I used Canva to create my 2023 vision board.

How to Make a Digital Business Vision Board

While traditional vision boards may take up physical space, digital vision boards can be stored on a device such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone. With this method, you can create a board that is just as effective as a physical one but with more flexibility. Here are some tips for creating a successful digital business vision board:

1. Start by picking a platform – You have a few options when it comes to creating your vision board. Popular platforms include websites like Pinterest or specific apps like Canva . Whichever platform you choose, make sure it is easy to use and has the features you need.

2. Gather inspiring images and words – Once you’ve chosen a platform, it’s time to start finding the images and words that will help you stay focused on your goals. Look for quotes, pictures, and other visuals that speak to you and inspire you.

3. Organize your business vision board – After you’ve collected your images and words, it’s important to organize them in a way that makes sense to you. Whether you prefer to keep things grouped by topics or arrange them in an aesthetically pleasing way, try to create a board that you can easily access and use.

4. Share your vision board – Once you’ve created your digital vision board, it’s time to share it with the world. This can be done through social media, email, or a personal blog. By sharing your vision board, you will have more motivation to achieve your goals.

Consider Multiple Vision Boards

Having different boards for different aspects of your life allows you to focus on specific goals and stay motivated to achieve them. When you have a single board, it can become cluttered with too many images and thoughts that can distract you from your main goal. By breaking up your vision boards into separate topics, you can more easily keep track of what you are trying to accomplish.

You can create boards for different aspects of your life such as:

Having multiple vision boards also provides an opportunity to be creative and express yourself in different ways. You can use different colors, textures, and images to express different emotions for each board. This way, you can make sure that each board reflects your individual goals for that topic. Additionally, having multiple vision boards can help you stay organized, focused, and motivated on your path toward success.

Each board can act as a reminder of the progress you have made and the goals you still need to achieve. This can be especially beneficial if you have a lot of goals that require a long-term commitment or sustained effort.

Overall, having multiple vision boards can be a great way to improve your productivity and achieve your goals.

How Often Should You Refresh Your Vision Board?

Refreshing your business vision board can be an important part of staying motivated and focused on your goals. Depending on your goals and how often they change, it is recommended to refresh your vision board at least once a year. This will ensure that your vision board remains relevant and inspiring.

When refreshing your vision board, take some time to reflect on the progress you have made toward your goals. Consider which goals you have achieved, which goals need more work, and which new goals you want to add. This will help you to stay focused on what matters most and ensure that your vision board is full of inspiring images and quotes that will keep you motivated.

You can also use this opportunity to switch up the layout of your vision board. Try different colors, font sizes, and shapes to create a visually appealing and cohesive design. You can also try new materials such as corkboard, poster board, and fabric to give your vision board an extra special touch.

I usually set aside time to create a new business vision board at the end of each year.

How to Make a Vision Board [The Ultimate 6-Step Guide]

Do you have a few goals that you  really  want to achieve?

One strategy that can make that happen is to make a vision board.

I’m sure you’ve heard of people  creating vision boards to help motivate and inspire action  toward meeting the desired outcome in their life. Some even hold vision board parties to make it a more social event.

When vision boards first became popular, I didn’t think it was something that was really up my alley; however, once I saw a close friend’s vision board, I figured I would give it a try.

While the result of my first vision board  did  serve as an effective constant reminder of my goals at the time,  the process of creating it forced me to really think about what I want out of life  and then take the extra step of recording it by including it on my vision board.

Remember–  you’re 1.2 to 1.4 times more likely to achieve your goal if you commit to it in writing , so taking this minimal extra step is worth the trouble.

So, in this article, you will discover a simple five-step process to create your own vision board and use it to achieve the important goals in your life.

But first, let’s talk a bit more about what a vision board is and why it’s so important to have one  whenever you’re working toward a life goal .

Table of Contents

What Is a Vision Board (and Why Is It Important)?

A vision board (or mood board) is a self-made and powerful tool that you use to formulate, define, and maintain focus on  a goal that you have for yourself . Your vision board will end up being unique to you and can be any type of board that you use to display text and images representing the things you want to be, accomplish, or have in your life.

You may be wondering,

“So why is it important to turn my goals into…an art project?”

Valid question. Simply put, the majority of us are extremely busy. We all have distractions–some welcomed and some not–and  sometimes our goals get put on the backburner . But by creating and using a vision board, you’re:

  • Identifying and giving clarity to a long-term vision for your life
  • Fortifying your positive intentions to follow through with your goals
  • Committing to staying focused

If you’re someone who likes to  create SMART goals , then you understand the need to have clarity when it comes to defining what you want in life. Your goals are supposed to be Specific, so  you know where to focus your efforts and when the goal has been accomplished.

Not Specific:  I want to be a leader. Specific:  I will complete a class on public speaking by May 15th, 2022, to improve my confidence when talking in front of a crowd. Following the class, I will  use deliberate practice  every day to continue to gain a necessary sense of confidence so I will be viewed as a leader and considered for a management position.

How to Make a Vision Board

When creating a vision board for a goal such as this, you would want to add pictures that will allow you to  visualize your success .

This picture would be relevant for this type of vision board as it shows a confident person speaking to a captivated audience:

how to make a vision board that works | how to make a vision board without magazines | how to make a vision board on canva

When you look at this picture on your vision board, you can visualize yourself being up front talking to that group of people with the same confidence the person in the picture seemingly has.

Keep in mind, the good thing about making your vision board is that  you’re in control, and you can pick any pictures that speak to  you  and  your  goals.

Once you’ve created your vision board, you will end up with a visual representation that you can keep in front of you every day to  remind you of your ‘why’  and what you’re working toward.  This visual tool can be especially helpful on those challenging days that make you want to throw in the towel.

Because we are such visual beings, having this constant and concrete reminder of where you’re trying to go in life will help you maintain motivation and inspire you to take daily action to move closer to reaching your biggest and most important goals in life.

So now, let’s go through the process of making a vision board. Hopefully, following these steps will prevent you from making  vision board mistakes that could hurt your goal-setting efforts .

Step #1: Collect Your Vision Board Supplies

There are a few things to keep in mind before you get started. First, remember that the purpose of your vision board is to give life to everything that’s on it. You want to feel an emotional connection with whatever image you include so that when you look at it, you will  feel what you want for the future  rather than merely seeing a 2D picture.

Secondly, it’s up to you if you want to create  one big vision board for your whole life or break it down into several mini boards   to cover the seven areas  such as your relationships, profession, family, personal development, spirituality, social life, and health.

Another idea (because every area of your life is interlinked with the others) is to create one main vision board and then have some smaller “theme” boards for things like an upcoming vacation or a board that focuses on a major project at work.

Okay, to get started on a physical vision board, you will need up to eight types of supplies:

  • A corkboard or a magnetic board – you can also use a poster board
  • Quality multipurpose office quality scissors
  • Multipurpose liquid glue — like Elmer’s Glue
  • Different color pens and markers
  • Adhesive Tape
  • Quote and Sayings Cards

And if you want to get a detailed explanation behind the importance of each item,  then read our article on the eight vision board supplies you might need .

Or, if you’re the digital vision board type, all you will need is   one of these 11 online vision board apps or websites . Our favorite is the  Canva Pro tool . ( Check out this guide on how to create your vision board using Canva. )

Canva or Google images offers free photos you can use for your vision board online. You can even utilize a search function to find the best pictures to align with your goals. Once done, you can save your virtual vision board as the background on your computer, or you can print it out.

Finally, don’t worry about looking for the “perfect” vision board item.  The most important thing here is just getting started and getting it done. This step doesn’t have to be difficult or tedious, and it also doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. You may already have several of the necessary supplies on hand.

Step #2: Identify Your Goal(s)

What do you want to focus on with this board.

If you’ve chosen to focus on one specific area of your life, write down some adjectives that describe how you want to feel when you look at the board.

If you’re unsure about what direction you want to go with your vision board, think about your values, skills, and interests, and ask yourself a few questions:

  • What things in the past have influenced your beliefs and behavior?
  • What do you enjoy doing, and what are you good at?
  • Can you find a connection between the activities you enjoy, your skills, and your values?
  • Can you leverage any of your skills to help benefit your future?

If you’re still stuck after answering these questions,  then check out this list of 100 personal core values to focus on .

Start by setting goals based on the most important values to you, and then dig a bit deeper. For example, if you want to lose weight, how do you envision your life-changing once the weight is lost? Or, if you want to make a lot of money, what will you do with that money to improve your life?

Finally, once you’ve identified a few goals, put them into a SMART goal format.  This video can show you how to do that (and it has 21 examples):

As you move closer to your vision, what adjustments need to be made?

Now that you have identified the goals you want to achieve, it is important to understand that these goals may change, and you may need to make adjustments as time goes on. If something changes, remember, your vision board isn't exactly set in stone. Feel free to edit things as needed.

You can cover up old pictures with new pictures, add new goals, and think about what you want to change. Your vision board reflects your positive emotions, feelings, dreams and is a visual representation of everything that inspires you. Have a dream or goal for several aspects of your life and think about the direction you want your life to take next.

Step #3: Prepare and Organize Your Vision Board

Set aside a reasonable amount of time (maybe two hours) to work on your vision board. But don’t rush it–doing so can defeat the purpose of creating a vision board altogether.  After all, when we rush through life, we lose touch with what we reallywant.  Do your best to ensure that this time is uninterrupted so you can focus on the task at hand.

Get started by preparing a folder (digital or physical) that holds a collection of pictures, quotes, affirmations, thoughts, photos, etc., representing your major goals or some element of your vision. Gather anything that represents the feelings or experiences you want to attract into your life.

One good strategy is to find free printables that can enhance the messaging of your goals.  So check out this article that lists 31 free vision board printables .

Of course, you can go through magazines to look for pictures or even use some vision board printables, but it may be more effective to do some image searches on Google because you want your vision board to be very specific–you don’t want to settle for a picture from a magazine that’s  close enough .

Here is a great video that can walk you through the Google image search process:

Pro Tip:  You should end up with way more material than you will actually use, which is good because you can pick and choose a few concise options rather than having a crowded board that ends up  becoming its own distraction . You can always save extra material for later use.

Be very selective about what you choose to put on your vision board.

Because your vision board should represent how you want your future self to  feel,  you don’t want to focus exclusively on stuff (e.g., pictures). Rather, you will want to add descriptive words, sayings, and quotes to your vision board that describes feelings. Some examples could be:

If you get stuck,  here is an article with 45 printable quotes you can use on a vision board .

Another strategy is to add words such as these to your board by simply writing them or finding them in a magazine/on the internet and attaching them to the board. You can also add positive affirmations to help you get rid of that little voice inside your head that often feeds your limiting beliefs  and makes you feel incapable of doing something.

Finally, you want to get a general idea of what you want the board to look like as you’re picking out pictures. You may want to stick with a certain color scheme or other design trends (or you may not), and you will want to be conscious of the size of the board that you’ve chosen.

Step #4: Create Your Layout

Once you’re all set with your materials, the next step is to lay everything out in a way that’s visually pleasing to you. As you’re creating structure, it might be a good idea to separate spaces on the board (just draw a line or circle) if you’re planning to do a “whole life” vision board that will feature a variety of aspects of your life.

Pro Tip #1 : Make sure to write the specific goal in its assigned area if you do this, as this will help you stay organized as you’re making your layout. You can digitally separate the sections if you’re making a digital vision board. Pro Tip #2 :   Designate the amount of space for each goal if you’re putting multiple goals on one board and be strategic about their placements. So, you may want to give your more important goals more space and put them front and center and move your relatively less important goals out to the side.

During this step, you will eliminate some pictures you had previously chosen, and  you will likely look for additional pictures as your vision board starts coming together and your thoughts begin to expand.

Trim down your pictures and start layering your quotes and sayings over relevant images. Keep moving things around and trimming your images until it feels about right.

Pro Tip #3 :   Leave a bit of extra space to give yourself some additional room to work.  Your vision board will expand . This will happen not only as you’re working on it but also once you think it’s complete. Make sure to take this into account before you cram too many things into one small area.

Here is an example of the process of creating a layout for your vision board.

More Ideas for Your Vision Board

Vision boarding is a great way to motivate you to follow through with your goal setting and start dreaming up more. Your vision board should contain things that inspire you and motivate you toward your ideal life, like financial goals, career goals, inspiring quotes, illustrations, positive affirmations, and purpose statements, just to name a few.

Step #5: Finalize Your Vision Board

Once you’re happy with your vision board's look, attach all of your materials to your board. All you need to do now is determine where you want to hang your board so you’ll be able to see it multiple times a day.

As you can see from  these examples , there is no limit to what your vision board  should  or  could  look like. You’ll notice some are small, and the images are laid out very close together like in this example:

ideas on how to make a vision board | best app to make a vision board | best magazines to make vision board

Some are more abstract and casual, like this one:

vision board ideas pinterest | vision board ideas for teachers | vision board checklist

And some are huge:

can i make a vision board on my phone | can i make a vision board on pinterest | can i make a vision board online

What your vision board ends up looking like in the end shouldn’t matter to anyone but you.  This is  your  vision and  your  board. Lay out how you want your vision board to look before gluing things down.

Step #6: See and Believe Your Goals

Finally, have to go beyond identifying your goals. You need to really believe in yourself and claim your goals as things  you  will  achieve  because your thoughts create your reality.

Get into the mindset of expecting success to be inspired as you look at your completed vision board, and you will feel a sense of motivation to act on those feelings of inspiration moving forward.

We suggest that you look at and review your vision board at least two times a day — once in the morning and once in the evening .

If you feel stuck in this area, here is a great video on how to get rid of self-doubt and move forward with a sense of conviction.

One Main Vision Board or Many?

A big question people often ask is if they should make one big vision board that includes everything or make several for different areas of their life. There really is no right or wrong way to create your vision board. If it makes more sense for YOU to have more than one, then go for it!

Just don't get too overwhelmed by having too many boards. If you make more than one, perhaps you can have a career-oriented vision board you can hang at your office desk or frame to remind you of your career-focused goals.

Updating Your Vision Board

As we already mentioned, your vision board will likely change as you progress. Our recommendation is to leave some space on your vision board, so you have room to add things as you go. You can also create an entirely new board each year to better reflect your new goals and aspirations for the upcoming year.

If you have a big life change during the year, you may also consider redoing your board, especially if your goals no longer align and do not feel relevant anymore.

Do Vision Boards Work?

Yes! There is tons of research showing that vision boards really do work. Even Psychology Today has reported that athletes who used vision boards to visualize their training received just about the same benefits as those who physically undertook the exercises.

However, it is also important to remember that these visualization techniques will only work if you actually do the work to get there. Vision boarding can prove to be a powerful tool as long as you do the work.

Final Thoughts on How to Make a Vision Board

Once you have envisioned something, it’s time to start believing it and making it happen. Vision boards help you do this because they take your dreams and turn them into a tangible item. As you look at your vision board every day, you will notice that certain things remain prominent while others start to fall by the wayside.

You may start to realize that you don’t care about one thing as much as you once thought, but there  is  something that excites you every time you reflect on it.

For your vision board to be effective, you have to engage with it and allow it to guide your actions toward achieving your goals. Your vision board will act as a constant reminder of where you want to be, so as you’re in the process of creating it, be intentional about what you choose to put on there.

Now, if you want to take this concept to the next level, one way to do that is to  host a vision board party, which we show you how to do in this article .

What Is a Vision Board?

A vision board is usually a collage of images that represent goals and dreams . It can include cut-out pictures from magazines and words that help inspire you to manifest your dreams and get where you want to go (here is a complete guide on how to manifest something).

Although vision boarding is a commonly used tool, there is not a lot of research on its effectiveness. Initial research suggests it can help us more easily reach our goals. This may be due to how vision boards help us gain self-awareness and self-reflect on what is important to us.

Vision boards may also help us imagine what a positive future could look like for us. Imagining a positive future is a helpful way to increase positive emotions and optimism . And positive emotions often create opportunities and increase the chances of success.

Even though this research doesn't directly assess the benefits of making a vision board, it suggests that many of the components of vision boarding have potential benefits for our well-being and success. It's just key to remember that vision boards are not magic. Rather, they can help you better understand what it is you'd like to manifest.

Here are some tips to help you make a vision board.

How to Make a Vision Board

Start by exploring your values. If your goals are not aligned with your personal values, achieving these goals won't provide the sense of satisfaction and well-being that you're seeking. Ask yourself, what really matters to you? What gives you meaning? Who do you want to be? Who do you want to help? And how do you want to spend your time? When making a vision board and thinking through your goals, keep these values-focused questions in mind.

Think about what motivates you. If you pursue goals that you find motivating, you'll have an easier time reaching them. So ask yourself, what do you want and why do you want it? Does it have anything to do with your childhood or past experiences? Does it have to do with your personality ?

Try to better understand why the goals you've set are so important to you. Or revise them if you discover they are not as important as you once thought.

Set priorities. Sometimes vision boards can end up being a collection of all the goals we aspire to—being rich, beautiful, and successful. If we really want to achieve these goals, we need to be more realistic with them. What can we reasonably accomplish in a year or five years? You can visualize your priorities by focusing a vision board on your most important life goals or by placing them above, in the center, or over a greater majority of the board.

Potential Problems With Vision Boards

Vision boarding is somewhat controversial in the scientific community. Because vision boards are often associated with the "law of attraction ," which doesn't have scientific support behind it, many assume vision boards are not a useful tool.

It's true that we don't fully understand the precise benefits of vision boards, but the truth is we don't understand the precise benefits of many tools that are used in coaching , counseling, and psychotherapy . That's because testing each one of these tools without the others is quite burdensome research. Anyway, given we know that the very act of setting goals is better than not setting goals, vision boards are indeed likely to be a useful tool, at least for some people.

Vision Board Ideas

Here are some types of goals that you may want to include in a vision board.

  • Social Goals

You can include all of these or make a vision board for each goal, focusing on the details of each. It's up to you. Now it's time to get creative.

Vision Board Business Start Up Costs

These costs can be as extravagant or bare bones as you envision your business and your clients tastes. Personally, I’d start your first few with a home party or free venue. Provide poster boards, a stack of free/ used magazines, glue sticks or double sided tape and a variety of size and color markers. You can print out motivational quotes you create according to who your audience is. A party can cost you as little as $1-$2 per person.

Take all your profits and after you’ve paid yourself back re-invest into your business. Do this by purchasing supplies in bulk for a lower price. You can also start a ‘swag bag’ as Thank you gifts. Be sure any materials that you gift (and including poster board) have a business card or sticker with your contact information.

So there you have it. 5 Practical ways to turn your love of vision boarding into a money making business and inspire people to live their best lives.

Before we part, I wanted to share some great quotes that will help you and your guests (future customers) achieve goals.

Saudi Arabia needs peace in the Middle East for its $500 billion Neom megaproject to succeed

  • Conflict in the Middle East is a threat to Saudi Arabia's ambitious Vision 2030 plans.
  • Some Neom projects are located along the Red Sea coast, where tensions have been escalating.
  • The renewed conflict in the region has left Saudi officials walking a difficult political line.

Insider Today

Escalating tensions in the Middle East are threatening the success of Saudi Arabia's ambitious Vision 2030 plans — especially its desert megacity called Neom .

The kingdom has announced grand plans to boost its tourism industry to 150 million visitors a year by 2030 , aiming to build new resorts and cities that will act as Dubai-style travel hubs in the region.

But many of these planned tourist destinations are located on the Red Sea coast, where tensions have been escalating since the October 7 Hamas attacks on Israel and the subsequent conflict in Gaza and beyond.

Iran-backed Houthis have launched numerous missiles and armed drone attacks at Israel and the threat of ongoing conflict has disrupted Red Sea shipping routes, with companies opting to avoid the area .

The conflict in the region has left Saudi officials walking a political tightrope.

Earlier steps toward normalizing relations with Israel have been derailed by a resurgence of local support for the Palestinian cause, while the threat of prolonged conflict risks hobbling officials lofty goals for Neom.

A de-escalating force

Before the October Hamas attacks, Saudi Arabia already appeared to be seeking de-escalation and normalization with its foreign policy in the region.

In March 2023, Iran and Saudi Arabia brokered a deal to re-establish diplomatic relations. With some help from China, the two nations agreed to reopen their embassies in their respective capitals.

In the months before October 7, Saudi Arabia was also reportedly edging toward a deal with the US that would have included a normalization agreement with Israel. According to a New York Times report , one reason is that it's hoping for a US security guarantee if it's ever attacked by Iran.

Progress on the deal appeared to stall after the Israeli offensive in Gaza sparked anger across the region, leaving Saudi officials caught between a wave of local support for the Palestinian cause and US pressure to normalize ties with Israel.

While Saudi Arabia has called for an end to the war in Gaza and accused Israel of committing war crimes , officials have continued to express interest in normalizing relations with the Jewish homeland as long as any deal includes the creation of a Palestinian state.

The US and Saudi Arabia are in the final steps of a new agreement on security guarantees and civilian nuclear assistance, Reuters reported last week . Normalization of an Israeli-Saudi relations is still far from being agreed.

International optics

The conflict in the region poses a problem for Saudi's hopes of attracting millions of new foreign visitors.

Kristian Coates Ulrichsen, a fellow for the Middle East at Rice University's Baker Institute for Public Policy, told Business Insider: "The Saudis are so concerned about any potential escalation because they realize they have this largely untapped Red Sea coastline, which they are now developing and see a lot of potential in."

Many of Neom's projects aimed at capturing the luxury tourism market are located along the Red Sea coast. Set to open next year, Neom's luxury island resort of Sindalah is advertised as an "exclusive gateway to the stunning Red Sea."

Saudi officials need to show that the locations are safe from nearby conflict zones to be able to attract high-spending visitors.

"The optics of stray missiles and drones slamming into Saudi cities when they're trying to attract the sort of high-end luxury markets would be disastrous," Ulrichsen said.

The 2022 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Jeddah, which took place against a backdrop of thick black smoke after Houthi missiles hit a fuel depot five miles away from the racetrack, is unlikely to be far from officials' minds.

After the attack, plumes of black smoke were visible from the circuit and seen during the first practice session, sparking alarm from international drivers.

Supply chain issues

Conflict in the region may also cause issues when it comes to the construction of ambitious projects like Neom.

"The remote location of the project, combined with renewed tensions in the Red Sea, also pose specific issues around construction and delivery of equipment and materials," Robert Mogielnicki, a senior resident scholar at the Arab Gulf States Institute, told BI.

Officials will also need to convince firms and residents to buy into Neom and attract tourists to visit. Mogielnicki said these demand-related variables mean the Saudi government and planners have less direct control over Neom's success.

Saudi officials are already fighting to combat claims that Neom is facing delays and setbacks.

In recent months, Western media outlets have reported that the country is scaling back population estimates for The Line and seeking to borrow funds .

Last month, Bloomberg reported that the financial realities of the project, which could see cost spiral up to $1.5 trillion , have started to cause alarm within the Saudi government.

Difficulties getting construction materials to the Red Sea coast could further delay some Neom projects, which are essentially already "moving targets," according to Ulrichsen.

Neom did not respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Meta’s oversight body prepares to lay off workers

The Oversight Board, which Meta started in 2019 as an experiment in content moderation, has faced criticism for moving too slowly and cautiously

business plans vision board

Meta’s company-funded oversight body is planning to trim its workforce, a downsizing effort that could affect the board’s ability to police the world’s largest social media network.

Meta’s Oversight Board, an independent collection of academics, experts and lawyers who oversee the social media giant’s thorny content decisions, told some employees last week that their jobs were at risk of being cut, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal matters.

The job eliminations probably will add to challenges facing the Oversight Board at a time when it has faced criticism for moving too slowly and cautiously to issue decisions and opinions that significantly shape how Meta handles contentious free speech debates. The cuts also could affect the Oversight Board’s longtime quest to be considered a viable model of governance for the social media industry in the eyes of regulators, civil society groups and the general public.

Stephen Neal, the chairperson of the Oversight Board Trust, said in a statement that the “targeted cuts” will allow the Oversight Board “to further optimize our operations by prioritizing the most impactful aspects of our work .”

“The Board continues to be one of the leading content moderation organizations in the world and Meta remains committed to its ongoing success and the Board is fully confident that the company will provide additional funding in the future,” Neal added.

Meta spokesman Andy Stone said in a statement that the company “remains committed to the Oversight Board” and “continues to strongly support its work.”

“We value the Board’s perspective, have implemented all their binding content decisions to date and will continue to update our policies and practices in response to their feedback,” Stone added.

Meta conceived the Oversight Board as an experiment in 2019 as regulators around the world were attempting to craft uniform rules governing social media platforms. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had argued that the his company should not be in the position of making “so many important decisions” about how internet platforms should balance their desire to support free expression with their desire to protect users from harmful content.

But critics quickly questioned the idea, arguing that a board that is reliant on the company for funding and information would not have enough power to force the company to deal with long-standing issues such as misinformation and hate speech.

The Oversight Board’s leadership had been signaling in recent months that the organization would be likely to have to trim costs, the people said. The job cuts are expected to largely affect staffers who support board members who issue opinions on Meta’s content moderation decisions, the people said. The 22-member board is supported by staffers whose job responsibilities include research, translation and promotion of the organization’s work.

The board also has explored opportunities that would expand its scope and funding sources beyond Meta, including by becoming a de facto appeals body for content moderation cases on other platforms under the European Union’s Digital Services Act, the people said.

In 2022, the Oversight Board announced that Meta was investing an additional $150 million to fund for three years the Oversight Board’s independent trust, which is managed exclusively by the board. The company previously gave the board $130 million in 2019 when the Trust launched.

In recent months, the Oversight Board has ramped up the number of high-profile cases it has taken on as well as the scope of content it reviews. The Oversight Board recently said it would start to review posts on Meta’s text-based social media app, Threads, which is meant to rival X.

The Oversight Board has taken on an array of cases over the years, including its recent criticism of Meta’s policy on manipulated media after an altered video of President Biden spread on Facebook. That decision prompted Meta to expand its labeling of artificial-intelligence-generated content. The Oversight Board also weighed in on whether Meta should have suspended the account of then-President Donald Trump over his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Under the rules, Meta and its users are allowed to appeal to the Oversight Board cases in which the company has taken down posts for violating its community standards — rules it imposes against hate speech, harassment and other problematic types of content. The decisions the Oversight Board makes on these cases are considered binding.

Separately, the Oversight Board can issue policy recommendations for changes to the company’s content moderation systems, but those are not considered binding.

Meta has been doing its own cost-cutting. Zuckerberg dubbed 2023 the company’s “year of efficiency,” which included slashing thousands of jobs and flattening the company’s hierarchy. Following the cuts, the company’s stock has rebounded over the past year as Meta builds out a suite of new AI-powered services.
