What is a Premium plan?

Creating your website is free. With a Premium plan you can connect your own domain, remove Wix branding from your site, and more. Most Premium plans include a 1 year free domain voucher, which is only valid with a purchase of a new domain from Wix and cannot be used to renew or extend a domain you already own. For best value, we recommend our yearly or multi-year plans.

Can I try a Wix Premium plan for free?

Yes. Try any Wix Premium plan and if you decide it's not for you, you can cancel within 14 days and receive a full refund—no questions asked. This applies to the initial upgrade to a Premium plan.

How do I get my free domain?

Most yearly or multi-year Premium plans come with a 1 year free domain voucher. You can choose your own domain name with suffixes such as .com, .net, .org and more. Once you find the perfect domain for your site, your voucher will be waiting for you at checkout. This voucher is only included with the first time purchase of a Premium plan. It is not included when renewing a plan or upgrading an existing plan. The voucher is redeemable within 60 days following your purchase, and is only valid towards the purchase of a new domain from Wix. The free domain voucher cannot be used to renew an existing domain.

Why do I need a custom domain?

A custom domain, like mystunningwebsite.com, is a great way to get found online and promote your brand. Replace your free Wix URL (username.wixsite.com/sitename) with a custom domain you purchased from Wix, or one you already own.

How can I get my own personalized email address?

Once you have your own domain, you can purchase a Google Workspace plan and get a custom email address using your domain, like [email protected] . We've partnered with Google to give you 30GB of Drive storage, as well as Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets and Slides.

Where can I find my billing information?

Sign into your Wix account and choose Billing & Payments from the main menu at the top-right of the page. You'll see all your subscriptions and billing history right there.

What online payments are accepted?

Wix accepts all major credit cards and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB and Diners. Additional payment options may be available in your specific location.

Our Methodology

We used our research methodology to analyze Wix’s pricing and recent plan changes, allowing us to determine whether Wix is good value for money.

Written and researched by:

Wix is our top-rated website builder in our research, meaning we’ve put it to the test and found it to be the best website builder overall! But how much does it cost? More importantly, is it good value for money?

Wix offers four premium plans, which give users a range of options to choose from depending on their needs, from online selling to enterprise businesses. The prices range from $16 per month (for the Light plan) to $159 per month (for the Business Elite plan) when billed annually. There is also the custom-priced Enterprise plan . Wix stands out in our research because it offers the best range of features available, like an easy-to-use editor, contact forms, and a professional blogging platform. This makes it ideal for personal websites and projects.

You can get 10% off all Wix’s plans using the code “ TAKE10 ” at the checkout. There’s also a free plan you can use indefinitely – but there are a few limitations.

Wix Pricing Plans

  • Free plan: – $0 per month – For those who want to try Wix
  • Light plan: – $16 per month – For portfolios and personal sites
  • Core plan: – $27/month – For small online stores and growing businesses
  • Business: – $32/month – For established businesses
  • Business Elite: – $159/month – For large businesses with advanced needs
  • Enterprise: – Custom pricing – For global brands and industry titans

How Much Does Wix Cost?

Four Wix website builder price plans

Across its four premium plans, Wix costs between $16 per month (billed annually) and $159 per month (billed annually). The cheapest plan, the Light plan , is great for those seeking a personal website or a professional portfolio.

If you want Wix ecommerce features, you’ll have to skip the Light plan and move to either the Core, Business, or Business Elite plans . With these plans, you’ll be able to sell up to 50,000 products and you’ll get access to shipping capabilities and advanced analytics.

The Enterprise plan is only for large business franchises and requires a call with the Wix sales team, as the price will be custom to what you want to achieve. However, thanks to our long-standing research in the industry, we can make a conservative estimate of around $5,000-$25,000 per year (billed annually).

What’s the difference between paying monthly and annually?

For example, Wix lists the Light plan as $16 per month when billed annually, meaning you’ll be paying for 12 months of use in advance. At checkout, you’ll have to pay $192.

Paying monthly means the subscription gets paid each month, much like Netflix or Spotify. Wix entices its users to pay annually by offering a reduced monthly fee. By paying annually, users can save $84 per year for the Light and Core plans than if they paid monthly.

Whichever payment option you choose will depend on your financial situation. If you don’t have the money for the annual payment immediately or don’t see yourself having the website live for over a year, then the monthly plan is a better option. However, we recommend the annual prices as we believe they are a better representation of the value for money of the builder.

Is The Free Plan Really Free?

Yes! There is zero cost involved with building and publishing a website on Wix . Simply go to Wix, put in your email address and you can start building and editing your website with Wix’s fantastic features for $0 (without any credit card details)! Better yet, there’s no time limit, meaning that the Wix website is now yours forever — for free.

However, Wix’s free plan only comes with 500MB of storage, which is barely enough if you plan to upload videos or high-quality images directly to your site. Other limitations can only be solved by upgrading, such as:

  • You can’t use your own domain name
  • You’ll have Wix ads displayed on your site
  • You can’t sell online
  • You only get limited features – for example, you’ll have no access to Google Analytics which means you won’t be able to track your website’s performance with this tool
  • You receive basic customer support – priority support is only available on premium plans so you might be left stranded if you need a helping hand

So, do we recommend Wix’s free plan? Well, sort of – the free plan is really only suitable for playing around with and testing. The Wix domain and banner ads give any site an unprofessional look and feel. If you’re serious about your site, then picking a paid plan is a much smarter choice. It is worth highlighting that you can always build your site on the free plan and then upgrade.

Is There a Free Trial?

As an alternative to Wix’s free plan, you can opt for a 14-day free trial of one of Wix’s premium plans. This is much better suited for those who may want access to Wix’s premium features, like ecommerce tools or increased storage – plus, there are no ads or other limitations (you still won’t be able to accept payments until you are on a paid-for plan).

The free trial will require you to enter payment details to kick things off.

Are There Any Discounts?

Wix is currently offering 10% off all its pricing plans if you use code TAKE10 at checkout. This deal is a great way to get full access to Wix at a cheaper price than usual.

Take a look at the table below and see how much you could save when using the discount.

Additionally, Wix for Students offers 50% off its plans if you go to Wix or the StudentBeans website. This is a fantastic deal to get the best website-building experience for an affordable price. You’ll need to have a recognized student I.D. to apply.

Is Wix Good Value for Money?

It depends . In our overall website builder ranking, Wix scores 3.7 out of 5 for value for money, coming in at a joint 4th place. While its plans can be expensive, there are very few builders that will offer a free plan with no time limit and an amazing depth of creativity and features.

Also, these features get rolled out with such high quality and at such a fast pace that other builders can barely keep up. In just a year, Wix SEO secured integrations with Google Analytics, Semrush, and Microsoft Clarity, becoming an absolute powerhouse.

But as we mentioned, the Wix free plan comes with a lot of limitations that almost force users to upgrade eventually. The Light plan is Wix’s cheapest, starting at $16 per month, but that plan comes with zero ecommerce capabilities, limited access to Wix features (no site analytics, site chat, or calendar app), and only 2GB of storage. For the best value for money, we recommend users start with the Core plan at $27 per month, which gives you access to a fuller range of essential website-building features, like ecommerce, events booking, and analytics.

How Does Wix Compare to Other Competitors?

a graph of blue and pruple

As you can see from the graph, Wix is an outlier among other website builders due to its cheapest plan not being its best value for money. Comparing Wix vs Squarespace’s cheapest plan, the Personal plan also begins at $16 per month. Feature-wise, it is almost on par with Wix’s Core plan ($27 per month).

The Light plan is just a slightly upgraded version of Wix’s free plan. For $16 per month, that is quite a dent in a budget, especially when considering the starting price of GoDaddy ($10.99 per month) and Hostinger ($2.99 per month).

However, the Core plan is everything you’d want and more from Wix, coming with all the features, integrations, and ecommerce capabilities. If you want to start an online business or professional website, then the Core plan will deliver on its price tag – the price is a little higher than other competitors, but our research shows that the value it brings more than compensates for it.

Light Plan: $16 per Month – For Portfolios and Personal Sites

  • Monthly price: $23 per month
  • Annual price: $16 per month

✔️ 2GB of storage

✔️ Free domain for 1 year

✔️ Removes ads from the site

❌ Limited amount of features

❌ No ecommerce capabilities (you can’t sell online)

❌ No access to website analytics, making it harder to track your site’s performance and engage with your audience

The Light plan is Wix’s cheapest plan. Besides the removal of ads, we found there’s not much difference between it and the free plan. The plan lacks many of the great features Wix is known for, like:

  • No ticket or event management
  • No restaurant management
  • No hotel management
  • No ecommerce

For $16 per month, you get the removal of ads, a free custom domain (for a year), and some basic marketing features. A disappointing amount for any potential new businesses, but ideal for small and informational websites like blogs, portfolios, and resumes.

With no ads and your own domain, your site gains some legitimacy. The Light plan gives you access to automated emails and lead-generation forms, making it good for simple promotion.

Three Wix template results in the template library for

This is all on top of the amazing Wix templates and editor you get to build your site in. Wix gains our highest score for templates in our research, with 4.3 out of 5. So even with limited features, your site will still look stunning.

Core Plan: $27 per Month – For Small Online Stores and Growing Businesses

  • Monthly price: $34 per month
  • Annual price: $27 per month

✔️ 50GB of storage

✔️ Access to a range of features, including ticketing and WixFit

✔️ Unlock ecommerce features, including abandoned cart recovery, discounts, and selling via socials

❌ Limited sales tools – can’t add multiple currencies or product reviews

The Core plan is Wix’s best value-for-money plan and our recommended starting point for anyone choosing Wix as a website builder. It includes ecommerce features – finally letting you sell on the platform – and it also comes with a host of specialist features for certain industries.

We can’t list them ALL here, but a few these are are our choice favorites:

  • 5 collaborators
  • Basic site analytics to monitor traffic and performance
  • Basic ecommerce tools – sell up to 50,000 products, Wix Payments , and sell on marketplaces/social channels
  • Wix dropshipping – up to 25 products by Modalyst
  • No transaction fees
  • Wix Hotel , Restaurant, and Fit platforms for each respective industry
  • Wix Bookings and Event management for scheduling and organizing appointments and in-person events
  • Stream music and videos and sell your original artwork

On top of this, you will get everything from the Light plan, plus explore even more features in the easy-to-use editor.

With all these features, the Core plan is perfect for those starting an online business or taking an existing business online. There is no app store required or extra fees incurred for specific industry tools and features (unlike Shopify or Squarespace). Plus, Wix has over 900 templates that will make sure you have a handy framework when designing it as they cover more industries than you can imagine !

While the Core plan’s features certainly impress, many of them are still offered in a ‘basic’ form – most evidently, the ecommerce tools. Important features like product reviews, accepting multiple currencies, and advanced shipping options are only available on the Business plan.

The Core plan is a decent choice if your website is in the early stages of growth, but once sales pick up it may be time to upgrade once again.

Business Plan: $32 per Month – For Established Businesses

  • Monthly price: $38 per month
  • Annual price: $32 per month

✔️ 100GB of storage

✔️ Unlock advanced shipping and product reviews for your store

✔️ Add multiple currencies and calculate sales tax automatically

❌ No access to premium customer service

❌ Stuck with the same basic analytics as the cheaper Wix plans

Once your store is getting steady sales, advanced tools are needed to keep up with demand. Enter the Business plan, the first of three ecommerce-dedicated plans by Wix.

You get all the aforementioned features that come with the Core plan, plus some brand new features designed primarily for selling online, such as:

  • Automated sales tax on 100 transactions per month
  • 1,000 product reviews provided by KudoBuzz
  • Unlimited ‘Back in Stock’ notifications
  • Advanced shipping plus 250 products available for dropshipping by Modalyst
  • Multiple currencies

These features are surely welcome for any online business wanting to scale up. In our research, Wix came joint second for sales features with 4.2 out of 5 . We found that the Business plan is considerably cheaper when compared with the nearest competition. It costs only $32 per month for Wix’s plan vs Shopify’s $79 per month for a similar plan .

A lot of the features introduced on the Core plan have been upgraded too, giving you 10 collaborators and the ability to assign roles, plus access to external databases. This makes it easier than ever to manage employees. However, not every feature has received this treatment, and even on the Business plan, you’ll still receive the same basic analytics and Wix customer service as those on the Light plan .

Business Elite Plan: $159 per Month – For Large Businesses with Advanced Needs

  • Monthly price: $172 per month
  • Annual price: $159 per month

✔️ Unlimited storage space for larger businesses

✔️ Advanced marketing and ecommerce tools like a loyalty program

✔️ Priority customer support

❌ Very expensive plan

❌ Not a beginner-friendly option

Just from the price alone, you can probably guess that the Business Elite plan is a different beast altogether. If you’re looking for the tippy-top of what Wix can offer your average online business owner, the Business Elite plan takes all the previously mentioned features and turns them to 11 , including:

  • Unlimited storage space
  • 15 collaborators, which is helpful for large businesses to delegate work
  • Advanced features, including marketing tools, analytics, and ecommerce
  • Priority VIP phone support so you can skip the queue
  • Retain customers with loyalty programs to share discounts, coupons, and rewards
  • Collect up to 3,000 product reviews to help improve customer trust
  • Sell unlimited products with Modalyst dropshipping

The biggest mark against this plan is price. We’d only recommend the Business Elite to thriving online businesses that need the support and can easily foot the bill – or established brick-and-mortar stores wanting to make a transition online . Either way, we don’t think this plan is good for beginners, and reiterate that the Core plan is the best value for your money .

That being said, for a high-end ecommerce plan, the Business Elite plan is cheaper than its competitors, with Advanced Shopify costing $299 per month (billed annually). If you are looking to make a switch from Shopify, the Business Elite certainly makes a good alternative, but we’d recommend all potential users try it out first with the 14-day free trial, as it’s a big commitment to make.

Enterprise Plan: Custom Pricing – For Global Brands and Industry Titans

✔️ Face no limitations when scaling your business

✔️ Dedicated account manager to help you succeed

❌ Custom plan means you’ll only know what your total is once you are given a quote that covers all your needs

❌ Only suitable for industry-leading businesses

This plan is not meant for your average Joe. Used by the likes of Kroger, Clarins, and Hello Fresh,  Wix Enterprise is intended to be used by big brands and industry leaders.

You get everything on the Business Elite plan, plus the unique feature of having a dedicated account manager to help you run your business. This includes a custom, super-charged Wix editor with developer-built component blocks and a global infrastructure of networks to support you –  all managed from a multi-site dashboard.

We know the majority of our readers are small-to-medium-sized businesses, but your business could one day get successful enough to need an enterprise plan, so it’s good to know. Since the pricing is custom, we can’t comment on the exact pricing Wix offers, but our research estimates it at around $5,000 – $25,000 per year, depending on size.

Does Wix Have Additional Fees?

Wix has some additional fees  – but all of them can be avoided. A caveat to this is if you are selling online, paying for the processing fees is impossible to avoid with Wix.

Wix Auto-Renewal

If you don’t want your plan to auto-renew, you can simply turn it off in your settings. Here’s how:

  • Go to “Billing and Payments” in your Wix account
  • Click “Plan Actions”
  • Click “Cancel Now”

Don’t worry – clicking “Cancel Now” doesn’t actually cancel your plan then and there. Instead, it means your plan won’t automatically renew the next time your subscription expires.

Wix Domain Name

Wix domains are free for the first year. After this, it will cost between $14.95 – $24.85 per year , depending on how specialized they are.

If you don’t pay for your domain, then someone else can register that domain name and use it for themselves. Your domain name’s renewal happens automatically so that you don’t lose your domain – but you can cancel the auto-renewal at any time in your settings.

Custom Email Address

Wix offers a Google Suite email address through its dashboard for $6 per month (billed annually) and $6.50 if you choose monthly billing.

Most of Wix’s features are built-in, but it does offer an app store for extra functionalities. Wix has +500 apps – of which 24 are free to use.

The rest will cost a monthly fee between $3-$20 per month . This will be heavily dependent on your website’s needs, so do some research on what you may want before building.

Screenshot of Wix's app market and its marketing apps.

Wix Payments Processing Fee

Wix charges a standard 2.9% + $0.30 on each transaction for users using Credit/Debit Cards, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.

If you are using a physical Wix Payments POS, then you will be charged 2.6% for cards and 2.6% + $0.20 for Tap to Pay on mobile .

Each of these fees differs depending on the region you’re in. We’ve shown the US rates, but if you are in a different region, we suggest you check out Wix’s service fees breakdown .

Processing fees are not included on returns either.

How We Test

We put Wix through hours of testing to determine whether it’s good value for money. Our research process looks at a variety of categories, including website features and ease of use, but when it comes to price, we analyze a few key areas.

Every website builder has recently increased its pricing, so our algorithm has been adjusted to reflect this change. Beyond reviewing Wix’s restructuring of its plans, we specifically look at whether Wix has a free trial or free plan (it has both), the average pricing plan, and the minimum standard of features you get for the lowest price you pay.

Summary of Wix Pricing Plans

Wix is our best-rated website builder in our research and offers four premium plans – plus a free plan and an enterprise plan. Let’s recap their prices:

  • Free plan: $0 per month – For those who want to try Wix
  • Light plan: $16 per month – For portfolios and personal sites
  • Core plan: $27 per month – For small online stores and growing businesses
  • Business plan: $32 per month – For established businesses
  • Business Elite plan: $159 per month – For large businesses with advanced needs
  • Enterprise plan: Custom pricing – For global brands and industry titans

Of these plans, the best value for money is the Core plan for $27 per month (billed annually). While it is a little more expensive than Squarespace or GoDaddy, those builders can’t compete with the amount of features and support you get with the Core plan.

If you have a small online store or a growing business, the value of the Core plan is worth its higher price tag. Wix provides all the tools you need to succeed off the bat. All that is left is the key ingredient: you!

Wix Pricing Breakdown: Evaluating the Best and Least Favorable Plan

Luis Santiago Saldivar - Writer for Top10

Finding the best website builder for your unique requirements isn't easy, especially when seeking a balance between functionality, aesthetics, and affordability.

Among the many options, Wix stands out as the world's #1 ranking website builder , well-known for its ease of use and wide range of features.

But with such a diverse scope of plans and pricing options, how do you determine which Wix plan aligns perfectly with your needs and budget? Let's dissect and compare Wix's pricing plans to find the perfect fit for your website—whether you're a freelancer, small business owner, or part of an expanding enterprise.

» Read our in-depth Wix review for more.

Wix's Pricing Plans at a Glance

Getting to know wix's pricing plans.

Wix has a range of pricing plans tailored to various website needs, all the way from free to premium plans packed with advanced features. Here's a breakdown of each.

Wix's Free Plan

Wix's free version is your cost-free gateway to the world of website building. With a secure SSL certificate included, you can ensure your visitors' data is protected, albeit on a basic level. The provision of some customer support, despite being fundamental, is beneficial if you're just starting out.

However, for more serious or business-oriented websites, I'd recommend more robust options provided by Wix's paid plans to expand and maintain a professional online presence.

  • Free entry into web creation
  • Basic security and SSL certificate
  • Beginner-friendly
  • No custom domain
  • Very limited features
  • Wix ads appear on your site

wix business plan prices

Wix's Connect Domain Plan

Price: $4.50/month

Wix's Connect Domain plan is the most basic paid tier, offering a step up from the free version for those ready to establish a stronger online presence. In my opinion, this plan is ideal if you want a more professional-looking site without diving into all the bells and whistles.

With this plan, you get access to a custom domain . It also includes 1GB of bandwidth and 500MB of storage, which can accommodate small websites with modest traffic. Basic customer support is accessible, but like with the free plan, priority support is not included.

  • Affordable custom domain connection
  • 24/7 customer support
  • Limited bandwidth and storage
  • Lacks advanced features

» Give your website an edge with these free Wix templates .

Wix's Combo Plan

Price: $8.50/month

I use the Combo plan from Wix for my personal projects and find it strikes the right balance between affordability and essential features. With 3GB of storage and 2GB of bandwidth, it's perfect if you need more resources than the most basic plan delivers but don't require the extensive features of higher-tier plans.

This plan is a practical step up if you're looking to enhance your website's functionality and professional appeal—ideal for personal blogs or small businesses aiming to make a bit more noise online.

  • Free domain for one year
  • Google Ads budget
  • 30 minutes of video
  • Cannot accommodate high traffic
  • Lacks advanced features and customer support of more premium plans

Wix's Unlimited Plan

Price: $12.50/month

Wix's Unlimited plan is my favorite choice for entrepreneurs and freelancers. It offers unlimited bandwidth—a significant plus for growing websites expecting increasing traffic.

The plan also includes 10GB of storage, which should suffice for various multimedia content without too much concern about running out of space. Plus, including the Site Booster app and Visitor Analytics app for one year can be a substantial benefit for SEO and understanding website traffic patterns.

  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • 10GB of storage
  • Valuable add-ons like Site Booster and Visitor Analytics
  • More expensive than basic plans
  • Content-heavy sites may require even more space

Wix's VIP Plan

Price: $24.50/month

Wix's VIP plan is the best option if you're seeking first-priority support and a full suite of features. It provides substantial storage space at 35GB, catering to content-rich sites. It also includes unlimited bandwidth, which means your website can handle high traffic volumes without any hitches.

I like the added perks, such as the Professional Logo and Social Media Logo files, which bring value for branding, and the Google Ads voucher, which can give marketing efforts a head start.

  • Lots of storage
  • Priority customer support
  • Abandoned cart recovery feature
  • Not beginner-friendly

wix business plan prices

Wix's Business Basic Plan

Price: $17/month

Wix's Business Basic plan is the entry-level option for small businesses, offering a cost-effective solution for eCommerce sites.

The plan offers unlimited bandwidth, which means it can accommodate an increasing number of visitors and growing website activity without the risk of hitting data limits. It provides 20GB of storage, which is plenty for a variety of small business needs, and five hours of video—enough to get started with multimedia content.

  • Sufficient storage for small business operations
  • Allows online payments and social media sales
  • Video hours may not be enough for content-heavy strategies
  • Lacks advanced eCommerce features

» Need even more options? Check out our best website builders for small businesses .

Wix's Business Unlimited Plan

Price: $25/month

Tagged as their most popular business plan, Wix's Business Unlimited plan is tailored for growing businesses looking to scale their online operations. It offers unlimited bandwidth, 35GB of storage, and 10 hours of video content, which I think is especially useful for businesses leveraging multimedia for engagement.

The plan also includes applications for boosting site traffic and analyzing visitor behavior—which is crucial for online growth strategies .

  • eCommerce features like subscriptions and multiple currencies
  • Tools for traffic generation and visitor analytics

Wix is a top-tier website builder that prides itself on its slick user experience and excellent value packages. Wix made a big change to its pricing model in July 2023, doing away with some of its options in favor of a more streamlined offering of only four paid plans. Fortunately, the website builder still has a free plan , as well as a 14-day free trial for paid plans.

If you’re interested in using Wix in 2024, we’re here to help dissect Wix’s pricing plans, fees, upfront costs and hidden charges, as well as looking at how much websites cost with other builders.

Our research and methodology.

  • Wix Pricing: Our Verdict

Wix has a total of four pricing plans ranging from $16 per month to $159 per month, depending on the plan that you choose.

If you’re interested in building a standard website, the Light plan is a great place to start at $16 per month — but if you’re interested in building an ecommerce platform, you’ll need to go with the Core plan from $29 per month , which unlocks the ecommerce features you need to build an online store.

Our recommendations:

  • If you want to test the features, or create a website for personal use only   – Free plan
  • If you want to create a resume website, portfolio, or blog – Light plan ($16 per month)
  • If you want to create an online store for the first time – Core  plan ($29 per month)
  • If you want to expand your existing offline and ecommerce sales   – Business plan ($36 per month)
  • If you need advanced reporting, ecommerce, and marketing features – Business Elite plan ($159 per month)

Wix Pricing: What You Should Know

Wix’s pricing structure is fairly typical for a website builder, but here are some factors to note before you commit to a plan.

Annual pricing

All Wix pricing is displayed annually — which is a little sneaky if you’re not ready to go all in right away — but, in comparison to other website builders out there, it is good value for money. All premium plans come with a 14-day free trial, if you do change your mind.

Wix’s contracts are not the easiest to get out of — we found there were quite a few clauses to keep in mind, so if you’re interested in trying a Wix package for free, you’re better off signing up for Wix’s free plan , initially. This is a great way to see how Wix’s website builder works in practice. It’s pretty easy to upgrade and switch over to a premium platform of your choosing.

With annual billing, all of Wix’s premium plans include a year’s free domain hosting — giving you full control over your branding.

What’s included with Wix?

Wix offers four paid plans , as well as an Enterprise plan tailored to meet large businesses’ specific needs with no publicly available pricing.

Wix’s Light, Core, Business, and Business Elite plans all include 24/7 customer support, SEO, storage, hosting and your own dedicated domain. With Wix’s premium plans you can take advantage of its extensive feature-rich catalog, intuitive drag-and-drop editor and a choice over 800 customizable templates, ad-free. You’ll also have access to Wix ADI which uses artificial intelligence to help you build a basic, tailor-made website for you needs.

According to our extensive research, Wix continues to be the best website builder available. Between the extensive feature list, the reasonable prices, and the great templates, you'll be able to get a well-designed, functional website live easily and effectively. Plus, it offers advanced business features like CRM, making Wix an incredible value on top of a powerful website building platform.

Don't miss out - Wix offers regular deals and discounts

wix business plan prices

Wix pricing is fairly straightforward with four plans — Light, Core, Business, and Business Elite . Below, we’ll go through what features you get with each of these plans, as well as the pros and cons of each to give you a better idea of what they offer.

Wix Light plan

  • $16 per month, 2 staff accounts
  • Best for beginners and users building simple portfolios and personal sites.

The Light plan is the first Wix plan that we would advise people to use. You’ll get a regular URL, or the ability to connect your site to a domain and URL that you already own. Plus, you’ll get full access to Wix’s excellent roster of website building tools. This means you’ll be able to take advantage of its powerful drag-and-drop editor, excellent website templates, and range of third-party extensions.

The Light plan gives you 2GB storage, plus you’ll also be able to upload up to 30 minutes of HD video to stream and promote your business online and use the platform’s new AI text generator.

You could run a brilliant website with the Light plan, but if you need ecommerce features, you’ll have to upgrade, which is common for website builders at this stage. The Squarespace Personal plan is also $16 per month and similarly does not offer ecommerce functionality.

Learn about some other user-friendly website builders in our guide to the best website builders for beginners .

  • Free domain for 1 year
  • 30 min of video storage
  • 24/7 support
  • No ecommerce functionality
  • No professional logo maker

Wix’s Light plan is a good choice for newer businesses building their first professional website

Wix Core plan

  • $29 per month, 5 staff accounts
  • Users looking to grow their business and make an occasional sale

With the Core plan your website’s storage will be increased to 50GB, giving you more room for videos, photos, and audio. Wix will also allow you to upload up to five hours’ worth of video content.

Wix will also give you one-year free access to its Site Booster app. The Site Booster app will give you the tools and tips you need to improve your site’s SEO, allowing it to appear closer to the top of Google rankings.

The Core plan is a bit of a bump in price over the Light plan, but it unlocks basic ecommerce functionality, allowing you to launch a simple online store to sell up to 50,000 products, which is more than worth it. Be warned, though, our researchers found the ecommerce platform to be a bit overwhelming with all the features and options, but there’s luckily a lot of guidance tips along the way that can guide you through the process, even as a beginner. If you want better ecommerce features like advanced shipping, though, you’ll have to upgrade.

Squarespace, on the other hand allows for fully integrated ecommerce with its plans, although with its $23 per month Business plan, there is a 3% transaction fee. Even GoDaddy, one of the cheapest options in our reserach, has ecommerce functionality exclusively in its $21 per month Commerce plan, so either way, you’re going to be paying a premium to sell products online.

  • 50GB storage for more videos and images
  • One year access to Wix’s site booster
  • Basic ecommerce features
  • No advanced shipping
  • No automated sales tax

Wix’s Core plan is the best place to start for business and professional websites that need an online store

Wix website builder text editor

Wix Business plan

  • $36 per month, 10 staff accounts
  • Best for established businesses that take regular sales

The Business plan really starts to unlock functionality for businesses trying to get a fully functional site up and running. You’ll get 100GB for storage and a more robust set of analytics and ecommerce features, like advanced shipping and product reviews.

Even better, if you’re hoping to sell your products internationally, our research found that the Business plan unlocks multiple currencies — five of them, to be specific — so you can really branch out and get your online store running across the world.

The Wix Business plan is a tad more expensive than Squarespace’s comparable plan at $36 per month versus $29 per month, but it does offer abandoned cart recovery, which Squarespace does not.

  • Advanced analytics
  • 100GB storage
  • 10 video hours
  • Up to 5 additional currencies
  • No customized reports
  • No loyalty program

Wix’s Business plan is the best place for robust businesses that plan to grow their ecommerce business

Wix Business Elite plan

  • $159 per month, 15 staff accounts
  • Best for very large businesses with extensive site needs

The Business Elite plan is Wix’s most expensive offering, providing users with unlimited storage and unlimited video hours. What’s more, this plan unlocks a suite of advanced features for ecommerce, marketing, and analytics, so you can really dig in and take advantage of the full suite of Wix functionality.

Perhaps one of the most important parts of the Wix Business Elite plan is that you’ll get priority support response. This means that in the event something goes wrong with your website, you’ll be able to get much faster phone support. This could be essential if you’re running a big, successful business.

This plan is admittedly a big jump in price, particularly compared to competitors (Squarespace’s most expensive plan is only $49 per month). Still, our research found that this plan from Wix is a true unlimited plan, with unlimited storage, video hours, automated sales tax, product reviews, and dropshipping, so it might be worth it depending on your needs.

  • Priority customer care
  • Unlimited storage and video hours
  • Advanced marketing and ecommerce features
  • Far more expensive than other plans
  • Still limits staff accounts

Wix’s Business Elite plan is the perfect package for well-established businesses

Yes, Wix does offer a free forever plan, as well as a 14-day free trial allowing you to test out the premium features before you buy. Here’s an in-depth look at both free options from Wix.

Wix free plan

Wix’s free plan is a great way to get started with the website builder before you make a financial commitment. It allows you to design your website with a wide range of features, as well as get the site live on the internet for your customers to see.

However, there are some substantial limitations on the free plan, as you can imagine. For starters, you’ll be inundated with Wix ads on your page, which won’t exactly look professionals to potential visitors. On top of that, you won’t have a custom domain, which means your site will be virtually invisible when it comes to SEO.

All that to say, the Wix free plan is a good jumping off point, but if you really want your site to get noticed, you’ll likely want to upgrade to a premium plan.

Wix free trial

With Wix’s 14-day free trial , you’ll get access to any Wix premium plan you choose. You’ll be able to build and publish your own website, with all the features you’d find in the premium plan of your choosing. However, you won’t be able to actually accept any payment and will need to upgrade at the end of your trial if you don’t want to risk losing your website.

While Wix’s free trial is good way to test the platform before you buy, but it doesn’t provide enough features to build a professional website.

In short, yes we think Wix offers good value for money. After evaluating the average price of Wix’s plans, as well as the presence of a free plan, we gave it a value for money score of 3.5/5 in our research. There are undoubtedly better options to choose from, however, with Squarespace offering slightly more affordable plans and a better user experience, earning it a value score of 4.2/5 .

Learn more about Squarespace in our Squarepace review .

In 2023, Wix pricing changed dramatically, reflecting a more comprehensive selection of options, reducing your choices from eight plans — four standard website plans and four ecommerce plans — to only four.

As we outlined in the overview above, Wix now simply has four paid pricing plans (as well as an Enterprise plan with no publicly available pricing) that cater to the majority of website builder needs. The Light plan is now the only plan that does not offer any ecommerce functionality, with the Core, Business, and Business Elite all allowing you to build an online store, with more features for a higher cost.

For users, this just means that you don’t have to navigate between standard and ecommerce-enabled website builders when looking for a Wix plan. They’ve trimmed down the options, providing you with a clearer picture of what you’re signing up for, so you won’t accidentally set yourself up with a plan that doesn’t let you set up an online store.

Does Wix Have Hidden Costs?

Wix pricing follows quite a clear structure, but there are some costs that you should be aware of before taking the plunge. For example, when you upgrade to a Wix premium plan, you’ll get a free domain but only for the first year. To qualify, it’ll also have to be your first Wix purchase. Once your free year is up, you won’t have the opportunity to renew, and will have to start paying for your domain, which will cost you $14.95 per year . Our research suggests having your own domain is definitely worth it in the long run though, as it’ll help search engines find your pages, will include custom email addresses and give your website a professional finish.

Another thing to watch out for is that all of Wix’s plans are set to auto-renew, so it’s important to know what you’re signing up before you take the plunge. You can, however, cancel the auto-renewing subscription if you switch it off in your settings on your Wix dashboard — and you won’t lose access to your account, or your site.

While Wix’s extensive app store can help add a lot of useful extra functionality to your site, some apps will require some extra outlay before you can use them. For example, while you won’t have to pay to add an Instagram feed to your site, some accounting apps will only offer short-term trial periods. Premium apps typically cost less than $10 per month , but some can run up to $20 per month .

If the app is going to help you make money, it will probably be worth paying the extra cost. But if it’s offering an otherwise free service, we’d probably avoid it.

Don’t like the sound of these costly add-ons? Read our guide to the best Wix alternatives to discover other great website builders.

How to Get Wix for Cheaper – Deals and Discounts

Wix is definitely one of the more affordable website builders out there, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t looking for a little savings to keep costs down. After all, small businesses are always in need of some financial help, and getting the best deal can keep you in the fight a bit longer.

Be sure to use the discount code “ TAKE10 ” at checkout, which will get you 10% off most plans . You can get started with Wix for free here now, then use this discount code when you upgrade to a premium plan.

Cost of Wix Email Accounts

Wix provides access to Google Workspace when you sign up for a premium plan. It’ll cost you an extra $6 per month and it will give your business an extra air of professionalism and it’s super easy to get started. It might be cheaper to try and find an alternative solution by going through a custom domain hosting provider, or directly through Google.

Here’s what you have to do:

  • Connect a domain to your website
  • Click on purchase mailbox
  • Pick how many mailboxes you want
  • Choose a subscription and complete your purchase.

While that all sounds delightfully simple, as always, there are some things to bear in mind.

Wix offers its premium email accounts through Gmail. If you like using Gmail, great. If you don’t, it might be worth looking around to see if there’s an alternative. However, this does mean that you get access to the whole of Google Workspace – including Google Drive, Docs, Calendar, and Hangouts – which might make it the perfect package for your office.

Since our last update...

Wix is always adding to the platform, improving the overall experience for users as much as possible. Most recently, Wix announced that it was releasing a conversational AI chat experience aimed at providing customized website builder solutions based on user needs.

“This is the first step to completely automating business management with AI, and opens the door for users to have a unique and personalized experience to set up a business even better and stronger than before.” – Guy Sopher, Head of AI Assistant at Wix

Much like ChatGPT, the AI model from Wix will be able to respond to and even converse with users, providing them with helpful insights on website building and business requirements to make the process as frictionless as possible.

As a website builder, Wix is the best option for the majority of businesses. While it isn’t the cheapest, it’s an easy to use, feature-heavy powerhouse with top tier customer support available across many channels.

The only real competition in our research is Squarespace, which offers a better user experience, a higher customer satisfaction score, and is our best-rated website builder for beginners. Squarespace doesn’t beat Wix’s website features however, scoring 4/5 compared to Wix’s 4.6/5 , so it may not be the best option for experienced builders with complex demands.

Wix has fallen a tad recently in the value for money category, due to rising prices across the industry and a few added features in that time. Still, it’s hard to add to a feature catalog that was already bursting at the seams to begin with. And given its ability to up its help & support score by offering more channels to reach out, Wix remains at the top of our list for the best website builder for small businesses.

We take our impartial research and analysis seriously, so you can have complete confidence that we're giving you the clearest, most useful product recommendations.

After conducting an initial exploration to identify the most relevant, popular, and established tools in the market, we put them through their paces with hands-on testing to see their real strengths and weaknesses. In this case, we put ten website builder products to the test across 251 areas of investigation.

Based on years of market and user needs research, we've established a website builder testing methodology that scores each product in six main categories of investigation and 33 subcategories ; this covers everything from customer feedback to design, ease of use, and more.

Our main testing categories for website builders are:

  • Website Features: the capabilities and functionalities offered by a website builder, e.g. blog functionality, SEO capability, and marketing capacity.
  • Design: the aesthetic appeal and visual layout of a website created using a website builder. It encompasses aspects such as page templates and customizable themes.
  • Customer Score: external customer opinion. This is the feedback and ratings given by customers who have used a particular website builder – the market position and reputation a website builder holds.
  • Ease of Use: how user-friendly and intuitive a website builder is for people with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Value for Money: the balance between the cost of a website builder and the benefits it provides. It considers factors such as pricing plans, subscription models, and available features.
  • Help and Support: the assistance and resources available to users when they encounter issues or need guidance while using a website builder.

When it comes to calculating a product's final score, not all testing areas are weighted evenly, as we know some aspects matter more to our readers than others, which are simply "nice to have." After hundreds of hours, our process is complete, and the results should ensure you can find the best solution for your needs.

Widely accepted as one of the best website builders on the market, Wix has recently simplified its pricing structure and reduced its number of plans from seven to five. You can now subscribe to Wix for $16-$159 monthly (paying for a full year upfront).

Tailored pricing is available for large enterprises if you’re ambitious about scaling up operations this year.

wix business plan prices

As well as launching its AI writer tool earlier this year, Wix has recently announced its AI meta tag creator. These additions can help win back the time and effort spent on search engine optimization, especially for those managing larger websites.

Although its stock price has dropped drastically since its 2021 peak, it remains a website platform with strong long-term revenue growth. But unlike most digital products right now, Wix ‘s recent pricing changes have not been straight skyward. Although Wix has increased its prices between now and last year, the rebrand of pricing plans this year includes more storage space for no additional cost.

Pivoting sharply towards business users, Wix pricing plans are now almost entirely geared towards online sellers , with just one plan – Wix Lite – available without online payment features.

Throughout this article, we’ve listed pricing as Wix publishes it. That means taxes are not included , and will be added at the checkout.

Wix Pricing: How much does Wix cost?

Browsing through Wix price plans was a bit mind-boggling last year, as you had eight separate plans to wade through. Now there are just four (plus the Enterprise option), and it’s much easier to pick and choose the plan you need.

Click the arrows to scroll through the table and compare all the price plans.

Like most website builder companies, Wix offers a free trial of 14 days plus a 14-day money-back guarantee on all premium plans so you can test out a price plan to see whether it’s the right fit.

All of Wix’s plans have been replaced with different offerings. For instance, Wix has dropped its “Connect Domain” and “Combo” plans to replace them with “Light” and “Core.” We’ll look in detail at each of these in the sections below.

Overall, Wix’s pricing changes mean it now offers more storage space for the same price . This was sorely needed, as many of Wix’s competitors offered a lot more storage for lower costs.

And you can still get unlimited storage with Weebly from $12 per month (paying for one year upfront). You’ll only get the equivalent from Wix at its $159-per-month tier (on an annual billing cycle).

We conducted a complete review if you’d like a detailed breakdown of Wix, including information on key features, competitor comparison and pros and cons.

Let’s take a closer look at Wix Light, next.

screenshot of Wix editor with overlaid menu of AI text generator tool

A new Wix feature that we love is the AI text generator – watch the video above for a quick demonstration. You simply type in a few phrases for inspiration, select the type of text you need, then choose from three auto-generated options.

1. Wix Light

  • What: Create a basic website to promote services
  • Who: Small business websites or micro-entrepreneurs
  • Why: Capture basic customer data with online forms
  • How much: $16 per month – discounts available for two or three years of prepayment

Wix’s Light plan costs $16 per month if you pay for one year upfront, otherwise, the month-to-month cost is $23. You’ll get an easy-to-use website builder without any sales features.

This plan is only suitable for basic business purposes – a place where customers can find your email address and some photos when they Google your name. Therefore it’s a decent option for web design for small businesses such as repair services, automobile services, antique stores, and neighborhood services like tree surgery.

six ecommerce website template thumbnails in a grid

The now-retired “Connect Domain” plan was $16 per month used to offer just 500MB of storage. It also had Wix branded adverts on your site, which often created a pretty amateurish look.

But the new “Light” plan is more generous. Priced at $16 per month, Wix Light offers 2GB of storage, which is much more realistic for small and local businesses to upload photos of products, audio content, menus, and so on. You won’t have any Wix branded ads on your site, and you’ll get the added bonus of one year’s free domain rental.

Wix’s Combo plan ($22 per month) has seen the biggest change. Now no longer available, Wix Combo used to offer 3GB of storage with one year’s free domain.

It had been the cheapest plan not to offer Wix ads. Now you can pay $6 less per month for Wix Light and get a website without Wix stickers all over it (albeit with just 2GB of storage).

2. Wix Core

What:  An affordable online store with solid sales features Who: Smaller retailers starting a small store Why: Customers can create an account to store payment and delivery details How much: $27 per month – discount available for two or three years prepayment

For $9 more per month, Wix Core opens up a whole range of retail opportunities compared with Wix Light. While Wix Light provides little more than a nice place to host images and collect customer emails, Wix Core allows you to set up a fully-fledged online store.

Its monthly price is rather steep at $34 per month, but if you pay for a year upfront Wix Core works out at $27 per month.

You can sell a wide range of product types , including digital artwork, video, and audio. You can sell subscriptions affordably on the Wix Core plan, unlike Squarespace, which requires an upgrade to its $49 per month Commerce Advanced plan.

four images of recipe books with pricing underneath each one

Replacing Wix’s “Business Basic” plan ($27 per month) is Wix Core (also $27 per month). Wix Core’s storage space is more than double that of Business Basic (50GB compared with 20GB).

Another change is the introduction of a new webchat feature to interact with your site’s customers. That’s particularly useful for businesses in retail, as it provides a convenient customer service channel in case any questions are holding back a purchase decision.

It’s the lowest Wix pricing tier to offer site analytics as well, providing you with tips on how to improve traffic (the flow of visitors) to your website.

However, there are lots of limitations, making it unsuitable for more ambitious online merchants. For instance, you can’t collect product review s, nor can you sell in multiple currencies. You don’t get access to shipping features like the ability to print shipping labels and manage fulfilment.

So you’ll need to arrange your own mailing processes  and keep a handle on orders without much automation from Wix’s side.

3. Wix Business

What: Organize and automate your sales process Who: Online sellers looking to scale up Why: Order fulfilment tools such as shipping label printing How much: $32 per month – discount available for two or three years’ upfront payment

Wix still has a $32 per month tier (formerly “Business Unlimited”, with 35GB storage) which has been replaced by “Business” with 100GB storage . Other aspects of this plan have stayed the same: you can print shipping labels, connect shipping apps, and enjoy automated tax calculation for 100 orders per month.

That means this is the plan for small business leaders who are truly looking to scale up , and expand their product offerings. On the other hand, local businesses or micro entrepreneurs selling handmade trinkets or offering one-to-one services at very low volumes would do better with Wix Core.

Wix allows you to sell a maximum of 50,000 products across any of its price plans. So if you want to scale up beyond that, we recommend you check out our Shopify pricing review instead.

One of the few limitations of this plan are that you can’t implement a loyalty program (with points, coupons, rewards, etc.). But other than that, it’s a genuinely great value option for online selling. You’ll be able to collect up to 1,000 customer reviews, which are vital for helping users to trust your site .

We recommend Wix Business for merchants with their sights set on overseas sales in particular, because of the following features:

  • Sell in six currencies
  • Build multiple websites
  • Manage five locations from one account
  • 10 staff accounts with custom roles for each

These features gives you extra control over website permissions, meaning you can set up your staff to collaborate effectively on various websites.

4. Wix Business Elite

  • What: Expand an established online store
  • Who: Fast-moving SMB retailers with some experience under their belt
  • Why: Priority customer support
  • How much: $159 per month – discounts available for two or three years prepayment

If your online sales are steady, your brand is gaining popularity, and you’re looking to expand Wix Elite is a decent option for expansion support. At $159 per month (paying for one year upfront), it’s certainly more affordable than Shopify Advanced at $399 per month.

The $159 per month plan (formerly known as “Business VIP”) is now “Business Elite” and storage space has been upgraded from 50GB to unlimited . You’ll get priority customer support, just the same on this plan as you did before.

For that reason, we recommend it for retailers in industries where speed is vital to successful operations. If you’re selling pricier items (perhaps with customization), your clientele is going to expect better customer service than a small-time seller on eBay.

You’re more likely to be able to provide rapid issue resolution with the phone support from Wix that you get at this tier. We have to say it’s a bit cheeky to charge so much for access to phone support, given IONOS offers this at all levels.

Square Online offers impressive 24/7 phone support at its $79 per month plan, making it potentially more appealing for ambitious sellers concerned about monthly outgoings.

Does Wix Charge Transaction fees?

Wix’s major value advantage is  not charging any transaction fees .

However, you’ll need to pay processing fees to third-party payment gateways, as is usual throughout retail. Wix will invoice you for these at the end of the month. Here are the rates:

  • Credit or debit card with Wix Payments: 2.9% + 30¢
  • Apply Pay: 2.9% + 30¢
  • Wix Payments Point of Sale (POS): 2.6%

We go through competitors and their differences more thoroughly in our complete guide to the  best online sales platforms for small businesses .

Yes, Wix has a free plan, so you can design and publish your website at no cost. Here are the limitations of the Wix free plan:

  • URL contains “youraccountname.wixsite.com”
  • Wix ads on every page
  • 500MB of storage space
  • Can’t take online payments
  • No Google analytics

Wix also has a 14-day free trial so you can test its premium web builder free of charge. There’s a money-back guarantee for the first two weeks of any paid subscription as well.

Wix Fees and Costs: Billing Cycles, Ongoing Costs and Hidden Fees

Don’t forget to read the small print – beyond just the subscription cost, you may have to pay some ‘hidden’ fees such as set-up fees or paid add-ons. Let’s break down what you can expect to pay, as well as on what terms.

Wix Billing Cycles

You can choose to pay one of four ways: monthly, annually, once per two years  or once every three years . Of these, the discounts are bigger if you pick the latter.

Be aware that subscriptions are on auto-renew, so you should set a reminder for when your billing period is coming to an end.  Annual and biannual plans are renewed 14 days before the plan’s expiry date.

Additional Wix website Costs:

The following additional charges may appear on your invoice from Wix:

  • Custom domain name: $16.89 a year
  • Business email with Google: $4.95 monthly per user
  • Paid apps (integrations)
  • Third-party payment processing fees
  • Mandatory taxes – including VAT

Bear in mind that if you bought a subscription while it was discounted, it will renew at the regular (higher) rate.

Wix Pricing Versus Competitors’ Pricing

Wix was joint third-best in the Value for Money category of our recent round of rigorous website builder testing. When comparing Wix with Squarespace on value for money, they both scored an impressive 4.2/5. Square came top because it’s the only e-commerce platform that doesn’t charge a monthly subscription fee to use its online sales platform.

Here are the Value for Money rankings:

  • Square: 4.7/5
  • Woocommerce: 4.3/5
  • Wix  and Squarespace: 4.2/5
  • Shopify, Americommerce, PinnacleCart and Bigcommerce: 3.0/5

Even in light of this list, it’s worth giving Wix a second look given the website builder scored 4.6/5 overall, ranking second place among all its competitors.

If you’re looking to sell cheaply online, you’re probably wondering whether or not to choose Wix. To help solve this riddle, we’ve put together a comparison chart of Wix and its competitors’ lowest-price e-commerce plans without onsite adverts.

You can directly compare their features by clicking the left and right arrows:

Wix offers a healthy balance between attractive design options, time-saving AI tools, and basic online selling options.

The convenience of shipping label printing, local currency pricing and automated sales tax make the $32-a-month Wix Business the best e-commerce plan in our eyes. These sales features enable you to build a solid workflow and be better organized.

Remember, Wix Business is specifically aimed at online sellers only . If you’re looking to build a business landing page, an artist’s portfolio, a community forum or any other kind of website then you should go for the Wix Light plan. At just $16   per month , Wix’s Light plan lets you build a website with hosting included and no Wix ads. Nice!

Frequently Asked Questions

It’s not the best, however, as it ranked joint-third in our price comparison, losing out to Square and Woocommerce. That being said, it placed second in our overall shortlist due to its excellent range of features and ease-of-use which makes it a solid choice if affordability isn’t your number one priority.

  • Wix Light is best suited for small businesses or freelancers.
  • Wix Core is best suited for retailers starting a small online store.
  • Wix Business is best suited for online sellers with an existing store who are looking to level up.
  • Wix Business Elite is best suited for fast-growing SMBs with experience of running an online store.

Wix is one of the best beginner-friendly website builders available right now. In this article, we’ll walk you through all of Wix’s pricing plans and share with you a few simple tricks on how to save money if you decide to go with this website builder.

If you have read our  Wix review , then you might be ready to pull out your credit card and get started creating your new site. But before you do, we’re going to show you how the Wix pricing structure works so you can pick the plan that’s best for you and your budget.

In this article, we’ll walk you through all of Wix’s pricing plans for 2024 and share with you a few simple tricks on how to save money if you decide to go with this website builder.

Quick Summary

  • How much does Wix cost? There are seven Wix plans available at the moment (I’m not taking into account the free and enterprise plans). Four are website plans (Connect Domain, Combo, Unlimited, and VIP), while three are business and eCommerce plans (Business Basic, Business Unlimited, and Business VIP). The Wix prices range from $16/month to $59/month for an annual subscription.
  • Which Wix plan is the cheapest? The most affordable Wix plan is also the most basic — the Combo plan . It costs only $16/month (and you get a free domain, but only if you purchase a yearly plan). Explore and compare all Wix plans .
  • Is the Wix free plan really free? Yes, it is. However, it has many limitations, which makes it extremely unappealing, especially for long-term use. Wix’s free plan doesn’t allow you to connect your website with a custom domain name; you have to settle for the Wix subdomain (accountname.wixsite.com/siteaddress).
  • What are the best ways to save money on Wix? There are a couple of great ways to save money on Wix: by purchasing a yearly Wix premium plan and taking advantage of Wix’s promo code . You can also save money by getting your custom domain name from another reputable domain name registrar like Namecheap .
  • Does Wix offer any discounts or promo codes? Yes, it does. The popular website builder offers a 10% discount on any of its annual premium plans (except Connect Domain and Combo) for the first year only . Additionally, Wix offers discounted premium plans for students . You can save 60% OFF all yearly premium plans with your Student Beans ID .
  • Does Wix offer a free domain name? Yes, it does. Wix includes a 1-year free domain voucher with the first-time purchase of a yearly premium plan (the Connect Domain Plan doesn’t come with this promotional gift). You’ll get this voucher if you switch from a monthly to a yearly premium plan as well (this applies to Combo, Unlimited, VIP, Business Basic, Business Unlimited, and Business VIP premium plans).

As you can see, Wix’s premium plans are relatively costly, especially given the fact that many of the useful tools and apps in the Wix app store are paid.

Nevertheless, Wix is an amazing, beginner-friendly website builder more and more individuals and businesses opt for. Numbers don’t lie — Wix’s user base has increased by 300% in the last seven years (from 50 million users in 2014 to 200 million users in 2024).

That said, I suggest going through each of the premium packages carefully to avoid spending money on a package that doesn’t include everything you need to build and maintain a strong online presence.

In this article, I’ll analyze all seven of Wix’s premium pricing plans , focusing on the most important features and apps they include. I’ll also share a few simple ways to save money with Wix .

How Much Does Wix Cost in 2024?

There are seven Wix plans available right now (I’m not counting the free and enterprise plans). Four of those are intended for professional sites, while three are business and eCommerce packages. Their prices range from $16/month to $59/month per month for a yearly subscription.

Those of you who want to explore one of Wix’s premium plans before committing to it can take advantage of the 14-day free trial . If, during this time, you realize that Wix isn’t the right fit for you, you can cancel the subscription and get a full refund without having to explain why.

Purchasing a monthly premium plan is another way to gain flexibility, at least until you’re certain you want to use the site builder for a long period. But keep in mind that Wix’s monthly subscriptions don’t include vouchers or premium apps.

wix pricing plans

If your current goal is to become the proud owner of a unique domain name and establish your brand’s credibility, then the Combo and Unlimited plans are ideal for you. The Pro and VIP packages are best for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and experts who want to reach high-value customers with a stunning and professional website.

The Business and eCommerce group of plans ( Business Basic , Business Unlimited , and Business VIP ) comes with an impressive suite of business tools that can help you drive traffic to your website, showcase all your products, promote and manage your events, accept online bookings, and receive safe online payments.

My recommendations:

  • If you want to test the waters or create a website for personal use – go with the Free plan
  • If you want to create an online resume, portfolio, or blog  – go with the Combo plan ( $16/month )
  • If you want to create a business website  – go with the Pro plan ( $27/month )
  • If you want to create an online store to sell products or services – go with the VIP plan ( $45/month )
  • If you want to expand your existing offline business and drive e-commerce sales  – go with the Business Unlimited plan ( $32/month )

What Does the Combo Plan Include?

The Wix Combo Plan costs $16/month. Unsurprisingly, it includes everything in the previous website plan (free SSL certificate, 24/7 customer care, and the opportunity to connect a unique domain name to your site) plus a free domain voucher for 12 months and Wix ad removal .

The Combo Plan provides 2GB of bandwidth and 3GB of storage space . It also allows you to showcase and stream videos for a total of 30 minutes . All of this makes the Combo Plan a solid website-building solution for both pros and businesses that are just beginning their online journey. Great examples are small blogs and landing pages.

What Does the Unlimited Plan Include?

The Unlimited Plan is Wix’s most commonly used website package. Freelancers and entrepreneurs love it because it’s affordable and comes with a number of benefits ideal for creating stunning websites. This plan costs $22/month.

In addition to all the key features of its predecessor, the Unlimited Plan also includes unlimited bandwidth and 10GB of storage space which is more than enough for most website types. What’s more, this plan comes with 60 video minutes , a free Site Booster app , and a free Visitor Analytics app (the apps are free for a year).

The Site Booster app helps you boost your SERP (search engine result page) rankings and become more visible for your current and potential customers by publishing your business info in all the places that matter online.

The Visitor Analytics app , on the other hand, is an advanced website traffic statistics tool that provides you with valuable insights about the way your visitors behave while on your website in the form of number of visitors, session duration, page traffic, conversions, bounce rates, etc.

With this app, you’ll also be able to get direct feedback from your visitors via polls and questionnaires. All of this information can help you improve your site’s performance, keep up with your competition, and gradually edge it out.

What Does the VIP Plan Include?

Wix’s VIP Plan provides access to various tools and apps that can help you build an outstanding web presence. This website premium plan can become yours for $45/month.

The VIP Plan is quite an upgrade from the Unlimited Plan. As its name suggests, it grants you special treatment — you’ll be able to enjoy VIP phone customer support and skip the line. In addition to this, the annual and multi-year VIP subscriptions also allow you to design a professional logo with full commercial rights and 40+ different social media logo file sizes.

Last but not least, this package includes unlimited bandwidth , 35GB of storage space , and 5 video hours , which is 4 more than the previous premium website plan.

Unlimited vs VIP Plan

The Unlimited Plan ’s three biggest strengths are the Site Booster app, the Visitor Analytics app, and, of course, the unlimited bandwidth. These features make it an amazing choice for freelancers and entrepreneurs who want to acquire and retain new clients.

The VIP Plan is ideal for professionals who want to create a memorable onsite experience for their visitors with the help of beautiful images, informative videos and audio, and handy documents, which is where the limitless bandwidth and large storage space come in.

What Does the Business Basic Plan Include?

It’s now time to take a close look at Wix’s business and eCommerce plans. The Business Basic Plan equips your business website with features and apps you need to sell your products online and accept secure online payments . The monthly subscription costs $27/month.

If you want to start selling your products online but don’t need much storage space, then the Business Basic package might be exactly what you need.

It allows you to build and manage your eCommerce platform by showcasing all your products and collections (no maximum number of products), sell on popular social channels like Instagram and Facebook, and recover lost sales by reminding your customers they’ve left items in their shopping carts via automated emails.

The Business Basic Premium Plan also allows you to make use of the Wix Booking app and accept online bookings for classes, courses, workshops, and appointments. With this app, you’ll also be able to attract new customers with special offers like reduced-price plans and free trials as well as add and manage staff members.

What Does the Business Unlimited Plan Include?

Wix’s Business Unlimited Plan is ideal for small and medium-sized business owners who want to increase their market share and expand their operations. The monthly subscription costs $32.

The Business Unlimited package includes everything in the Business Basic Premium Plan plus :

  • 35GB of storage space (15GB more than its predecessor);
  • 10 video hours (100% more than Business Basic);
  • The opportunity to offer subscriptions ;
  • The possibility to display your product prices in multiple currencies ; and
  • Automated sales tax calculation for 100 transactions a month.

What Does the Business VIP Plan Include?

The Business VIP Plan is Wix’s ultimate business and eCommerce plan. If you’re looking for a package that can help you create a stunning eCommerce website, look no further. For $59 a month (if you purchase an annual subscription), you’ll have access to Wix’s full suite of premium business apps and features.

This plan includes everything in the Business Unlimited package plus numerous other useful features. It provides you with 50GB of storage space , unlimited video hours in Wix Video, a free Events Calendar app for one full year , and first-priority VIP customer support . If you purchase a yearly or multi-year subscription, you’ll also get premium app coupons , Wix vouchers , and professional logo design .

Business Unlimited vs. Business VIP Plan

Both the Business Unlimited and the Business VIP Wix plans are great for business and eCommerce websites. However, the latter is significantly richer and lets you make the most of the Wix platform. Here’s a head-to-head comparison of the two:

Wix Plan Comparison

Here’s a side-by-side Wix pricing plan comparison table:

* With annual and multi-year subscriptions only.

How Can I Save Money on My Wix Subscription?

The Wix pricing plans aren’t exactly cheap, especially if you take into account all the hidden costs (for example, Wix doesn’t include a personalized Google Workspace mailbox in any of its premium plans). That’s precisely why you should consider the following three ways of saving money if you decide to create your website with this online builder:

Take Advantage of Wix Promotions

wix promotion discount

Wix offers great sales every couple of weeks or so. If you sign up for a free plan and visit the platform regularly, it’s highly likely that you’ll be able to purchase select Wix premium plans at 50% OFF .

Remember that these deals are valid only for the initial annual or 2-year subscription bought during a sale.

Buy a Unique Domain Name Elsewhere

Wix users can purchase a unique domain name directly from Wix. However, registering a domain with Wix is quite costly . You can save a significant amount of money if you buy the domain you want from another domain name registrar and then connect it to your Wix site (you’ll need a premium Wix plan for this).

Let’s compare Wix’s domain name prices with Namecheap’s offers for the same domain name: veganafternoondelights.com . Here’s how much you’ll have to pay if you buy it directly from Wix:

domain name

Here are Namecheap’s offers for the same domain:

namecheap domains

It’s important to keep in mind that Namecheap includes privacy protection in most of its offers, while Wix doesn’t . To avoid spam and unwanted solicitations with Wix, you’ll have to pay $9.90 a year .

This increases Wix’s total domain name price to $24.85 per year , which is $15.37 more than registering the domain name in question with Namecheap .

Questions & Answers

Our verdict ⭐.

Wix’s premium plans aren’t the most affordable ones , especially given the fact they don’t include a personalized mailbox and only annual and multi-year subscriptions come with a 1-year free domain voucher.

Experience the perfect blend of simplicity and power with Wix. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned professional, Wix offers an intuitive, drag-and-drop editing tool, customizable features, and robust eCommerce capabilities. Transform your ideas into a stunning website with Wix.

Create a Stunning Website Easily with Wix

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give this website builder a try. Wix is still an amazing website-building solution for both individuals and businesses thanks to its ease of use, impressive website template collection, and built-in tools.

If you play it smart, you can save enough money to upgrade your business, marketing, and customer management tools and take your website to the next level. Plus, the 14-day free trial allows you to get acquainted with the platform and decide whether it suits your needs without wasting a single dollar.

As of May, 2023, Wix has changed its premium plan offering and now features one free plan with branding and ads, and four—rather than eight—paid plans, plus an Enterprise level plan—to accommodate its various users. Each Wix pricing plan comes with a set of unique features, but the most striking change is that all tiers, including the free plan, offer some degree of marketing capability. Let’s first take a look at the new plans.

Wix Lite Plan ($16 per month)

The Wix Lite plan is the first of Wix’s paid plans. This $16 per month plan is designed for personal use. It includes a custom domain that helps build your brand’s credibility, a free domain for one year, 2GB of storage space and 30 minutes of video.

The Lite plan also removes Wix ads that appear in the free plan and comes with 24/7 customer care. This plan looks more professional than the free plan and is perfect for portfolios, CVs and personal websites.

Wix Core Plan ($33 per month)

The next step up is Wix’s Core plan, which is geared towards entrepreneurs and freelancers. At $33 per month, users get everything in the Lite plan plus a free year of the Site Booster app that will help your website to rank in search, and tools to build your logo in 40 different sizes for various social media formats.

But storage and video is where upgraders to Core will really notice the difference from Lite.  This plan takes the amount of storage space from 2GB to 50GB and upgrades video time from 30 minutes to five hours.

Wix Business Plan ($49 per month)

Wix advertises the Business plan as its ‘recommended’ premium plan. At $49 a month, the plan includes all the features of the Core plan with an upgrade to 100GB of storage space and 10 hours of video.

While it is good value for money at only $16 more than the previous plan per month for the benefits of so much extra storage space and video time, it doesn’t come with priority support, only 24/7 customer care, which may be a draw card for high-traffic blogs. Instead, this plan may be better suited towards small businesses looking to expand their online presence before investing more money.

Wix Business Elite Plan ($179 per month)

The new Wix Business Elite plan is the best and priciest of the paid plans at $179 a month. For those easily frustrated with technical issues, the plan includes priority customer care, which allows you to skip the queue for VIP telephone support. This is especially valuable for busy entrepreneurs who do not want to waste time ‘on hold’.

Unlimited drop shipping is also available, as is the ability to collect and post customer reviews and offer 10 additional currencies for global transactions. Most of all, storage and video is unlimited.

The large amount of storage space and priority one-on-one help make it a great option for growing businesses who attract significant business.

In addition to the Business Elite Plan, there is one higher tier, called an Enterprise Plan, which offers a price on request. The hallmark of this plan is the dedicated account manager,  the custom SSL certificate (not available on other plans), multi-site management platform, custom templates and integrations, and product training. As you may have guessed this tier is usually reserved for larger-scale businesses.

Wix's Premium Plans: What's Included

Wix has streamlined its premium plan offer into four tiers, plus an Enterprise level, thereby reducing the number of options down from eight. While previously only the Ascend Premium plan offered marketing tools—think lead-capture forms, social media marketing and automations—now all premium plans have this suite of capabilities. You can send up to 200 emails a month, or, if you require more than this quota, you can buy a standalone email marketing package .

The entirely new Business Elite tier is designed for high-traffic and larger businesses, and at $179 per month, is a step up in cost from the other premium plans. It offers an advanced developer platform, designed for data-heavy businesses that manage a lot of traffic (or a lot of their clients’ traffic.)

Unlike many website builders, Wix does offer a free plan. The plan includes up to 500MB of storage and bandwidth and online customer support. Users can still create a stunning website with this plan, but they will not be able to create a custom domain name and Wix ads will appear on every page.

This version is one of the best free website builders on the market and is a good option for those wanting to dip their toes in the website creation waters without committing to a paid service. You can read more in our complete guide to the best free website builders for Australians.

Wix Domain Cost

To have a custom domain name for your website, you’ll need to pay a separate annual cost. The monthly cost for a paid Wix plan only covers website hosting. Domain prices vary depending on the type of domain extension, the length of your term, the level of privacy protection and your local currency and tax laws.

However, if you sign up for a yearly premium website builder plan, it will likely come with a one-year domain voucher. This means you’ll get a free custom domain for one year, after which time you’ll need to pay to renew it. Pay close attention to the parameters you choose when registering for the first time, so that you can save up and be prepared for this fee a year later.

Wix Email Cost

If you want your email address to contain your website’s domain name, e.g.,  [email protected]  instead of  [email protected] , you can purchase a professional email mailbox through Google Workspace.

If you have multiple members on your team, you’ll need to purchase separate mailboxes for each email address.

Wix's Marketing Suite

Ascend by Wix helps you market your business with email marketing, lead form captures, social media scheduling and more. It plugs in directly to your Wix site, so you can view insights and build automations without leaving Wix. Previously Wix’s marketing tools were only available on the top-tier plans, but now all plans, including Wix’s free version, have some form of marketing capability.  Depending on the plan, you have a set monthly allowance of emails to send to recipients per month. The free plan confines you to 200 emails per month, while the Core plan allows up to 5,000. You can read more about the Wix marketing suite here .

Premium Apps

Wix has more than 300 apps and business tools that you can use to enhance the functionality of your website. But if you want premium apps, you’ll need to pay. You can try the free version of an app before you decide to invest in the paid version.

Keep in mind that Wix will auto-renew any subscriptions to paid apps, so if you decide to cancel, you’ll need to visit your account settings.

Below, you will find our top recommendations for web hosting services, ranging from providers that give you a quick and easy way to build your website all the way up to the big companies that provide full data center infrastructure capabilities as a service.

What is the best web hosting service right now?

ZDNET has conducted extensive research and hands-on testing with many of the top web hosting services. Our pick for the best web hosting service overall is Hostinger . Hostinger offers inexpensive plans starting at only $2.99/month suitable for most website owners. Its premium plan has everything you need: a website builder, WordPress integration, templates, emails, SEO, marketing help, and more. Read on for the rest of our picks for the best web hosting services.

Best web hosting services of 2024

Best web hosting service overall.

  • Inexpensive
  • One-click WordPress install
  • Enhanced security limited to more expensive plans
  • Prices jump on renewal

Hostinger's premium plan ($2.99/month, three months free) is excellent value for the money if you want to operate multiple websites for personal or business reasons under one account.

The premium plan supports up to 100 websites. It offers users 100GB storage, up to 100 email addresses and forwarders, free SSL website security, and unlimited bandwidth, and a free domain name.

While there's no dedicated IP address, this won't bother most website owners. Furthermore, you'll be given basic e-commerce capabilities and one-click WordPress installation and migration. The same WordPress installation can be used to support multiple WordPress websites.

Review:   Hostinger review: Good support, killer entry-level price web hosting

If you need a theme, Hostinger also provides a drag-and-drop website builder and 150 templates. The plan includes Google Analytics integration, SEO tools, and standard DDoS protection.

Overall, we consider Hostinger's premium plan an excellent option for most website owners and small businesses. Business options begin at $2.99/month with three months added, for free.

A downside, however, is that you can only access more advanced features -- such as daily backups and increased performance -- with more expensive subscriptions. In addition, while many customers applaud Hostinger's customer service, there are reports of bounceback and slow loads by some clients operating multiple websites.

There is a limited, free plan available, with 300MB storage but no free domain or email.

Hostinger features:  cPanel : Yes |  SSL : Some plans |  SSH : Yes |  Backups : Yes |  Money-back guarantee : 30 days |  Support : 24/7, live chat support

Best web hosting service for professionals

  • Over three-month money-back guarantee
  • Many hosting options
  • Email an additional cost

DreamHost's easy-to-use interface, efficiency, and customer support stand out to business owners and new webmasters alike. The hosting provider offers WordPress hosting, shared hosting, virtual private servers, dedicated servers, cloud hosting, and more.

We particularly like that DreamHost offers G Suite integration, with domain integration and Google Cloud support. The company also provides a great set of resources and guides that can help customers grow their businesses, all in a cost-effective way. A free SSL certificate is available on all plans.

Review:   DreamHost review: I'm a satisfied 15-year customer

Nick Farnborough, the co-founder of  Clavis Social , told ZDNET that he has "tried almost every host out there over the years and ultimately found DreamHost to be the best overall package, taking into account cost, performance, and ease of use."

Customers online, too, have applauded the customer support and value for money of this web host, although some also note that reaching customer support teams can be challenging. Prices begin at $2.95 per month for a basic, shared plan, with email available for an additional monthly fee.

DreamHost features :  cPanel : No, proprietary panel |  SSL : Free |  SSH : Yes |  Backups : Yes |  Money-back guarantee : 97 days |  Support : 24/7 chat, ticket, and call-back

Best budget web hosting service

  • Affordable plans
  • Paid plans can become expensive following promotion time periods

Ionos is one of our top picks for affordable, long-term web hosting. The web hosting provider offers reliable, stable uptime with daily backups included on all plans. Free wildcard SSL certificates, email, a free domain, and 24/7 support are also included.

Customers report great customer service and uptime, as well as easy setup and web hosting transitions.

Basic plans supporting one website and with 10 databases, alongside 10GB storage space, are typically $6/month, but with the agreement of a three-year plan, will cost you $4/month. A free domain name for one year is included.

The top deal at the moment is for Ionos Plus, a website hosting package suitable for larger, scalable projects and WordPress. On a three-year plan, you will only pay $6/month and you can operate unlimited websites with unlimited databases and storage. You will also receive a wildcard SSL certificate.

Ionos f eatures:  cPanel : Yes |  SSL : Yes, wildcard |  SSH : Yes |  Backups : Daily |  Money-back guarantee : 30 days |  Support : 24/7

Best web hosting service for the environmentally-conscious

  • Reasonably priced
  • Eco-friendly
  • On-demand backups limited to premium plans

GreenGeeks is a great web hosting option if you want to sign up for a sustainable, eco-conscious service.

GreenGeeks has developed its marketing around the concept of being environmentally friendly, with three times the power your hosting demands replaced with wind power credits and tree planting.

It's not just the environmental factor, however -- GreenGeeks prides itself on a speedy, reliable service. Although the company's own website could use some modernization and an overhaul, the important part is the hosting, which includes standard hosting, WordPress installs, commerce, VPS, and dedicated tiers.

You can expect to pay $2.95/month for basic plans, with options to upscale and grow over time. The basic web hosting plan only covers one website with 50GB storage, but once you move up a level, you can expect support for unlimited websites, managed WordPress installs, unlimited space, a free SSL certificate, and more.

Customers applaud GreenGeek customer service, although there are reports of "hidden" fees related to specific products.

GreenGeeks f eatures:  cPanel : Yes |  SSL : Free |  SSH : Yes |  Backups : Varies by plan |  Money-back guarantee : 30 days |  Support : Depends on plan

Best web hosting service for GoDaddy domain customers

  • Free, unlimited SSL for all websites on the Deluxe plan and up
  • Tutorials online to help guide your website-creating process
  • Large payment down to start hosting

GoDaddy has made a business of offering as wide an array of services as possible for individuals and small businesses in need of an internet presence. It's widely known, and many customers enjoy the service.

Pricing begins at $5.99/month for one website. With specific plans, you may be eligible for a free domain name and SSL certificate. Regarding security, automatic WordPress updates are applied and malware scanning services are available. Each plan comes with a one-click WordPress installation, a cPanel, and daily backups.

Review:   GoDaddy: A no muss, no fuss website-building service

Customer service is reasonable, and, although not 24/7, if you need a technical lead to get something accomplished, you can usually find someone with a clue (after jumping through a few hoops, of course). However, the refund policy is restrictive and I would say the host's website is cluttered, making it difficult to find exactly what service you need -- and for what price.

ZDNET author David Gewirtz has decades of experience with GoDaddy, and he has come to respect how this web host provides the key services most customers want. They're definitely not the best at anything, but they do a good job with almost everything.

"GoDaddy, in my opinion, is the best web host," Gerrid Smith, director of E-commerce of  Joy Organics , told ZDNET. "They promise a minimum of 99.9% availability. To prevent malicious activities and repel DDoS attacks, their security team works around the clock."

GoDaddy f eatures:  cPanel : Some plans |  SSL : Some plans |  SSH : Some plans |  Backups : Some plans |  Money-back guarantee : 30 days for annual plans, 48 hours for monthly plans |  Support : 24/7/365 US-based ticket and phone

Best web hosting service for simple e-commerce

  • Lots of templates to choose from for beginner web designers
  • Simple interface
  • Website apps available with Wix support
  • Monthly plans are expensive
  • Can't switch templates, must start from scratch

If you've ever watched a YouTube video, you've seen a Wix ad. They are everywhere. With six million premium subscribers, they've got some momentum -- and are certainly capable of grabbing attention.

When selecting a website builder, why would you go with Wix over WordPress? The answer is simplicity. WordPress offers tremendous depth and customization options with plugins and widgets, but Wix quickly gets you up and running with an attractive site.

There is nothing like the thousands of plugins and themes offered by WordPress in the Wix world, but if you want a well-designed site and you need an e-commerce solution, this is a great option.

I selected this provider when I assisted someone in setting up a small online business, and the learning curve was easy, with no payment or downtime issues. However, for someone used to CMS backends, the more restrictive website builder can be somewhat frustrating.

Free versions, however, do contain Wix banners. You can start there, and if you like the system, convert to a paid plan and link up your chosen domain name. Plans begin at $17/month with a free domain name thrown in.

Wix f eatures:  cPanel : No |  SSL : Free |  SSH : No |  Backups : Site history |  Money-back guarantee : 14 days |  Support : 24/7 English call-back

What is the best web hosting service overall?

Hostinger is ZDNET's top choice because it offers excellent features at outstanding price points, with a large selection of tools to make the process easy, even for beginner webmasters. Hostinger offers plans starting at only $2.99/month suitable for most website owners. Its premium plan has everything you need: a website builder, WordPress integration, templates, emails, SEO, marketing help, and more. However, our other top picks are also worthy competitors.

Which web hosting service is right for you?

To help make the process of selecting your new web hosting provider simpler, here is a guide to making your decision less of a hassle, based on what is most important to you.

Factors to consider when choosing a web hosting service

When selecting your new web hosting provider in 2024, there are some crucial factors you should consider:

  • Reliability : We always recommend you choose a web hosting provider with a long history of stable, reliable service. After all, your website could end up being the central hub of your business for promotion and customer communication, so constant downtime can harm your reputation.
  • Affordability : Your budget must be based on the purpose of your web hosting package. Whether you want a single, small slice of hosting real estate for a personal blog or you want to run a large e-commerce store, it will change how much you should expect to pay. Set a budget that you can easily afford and find the right provider to match you.
  • Scalability : You need to consider what the most important functions or uses of your website will be. If you expect to grow your business over time and you expect heavy traffic, you will need to be able to scale the hosting's capabilities over time. Choose a provider with upgrade options.
  • Customer support : We find that customer support can be extremely important when you sign up for a web hosting service. Regardless of whether you are a beginner or you want to run a plethora of websites, you should choose a provider with customer support options.

How did we choose these web hosting services?

When we compiled this list, we began with web hosts ZDNET authors are personally familiar with. ZDNET does extensive testing on and research into web hosting providers, taking into consideration user reviews, competitor analysis, personal usage and experiences, and more.

Some of us have been running production websites for decades, with sites that have served millions of pages. Others have used web hosts for personal blogs, writing projects, and to help individuals launch small businesses.

We chose these providers because we believe they offer some of the best services in the market. These are the main factors we considered:

  • Features offered : Deciding on the best web hosting provider for you requires you to consider what features are a priority. We've included options for CMS implementation, e-commerce, design services, SEO services, cybersecurity functions, and more.
  • Price : Naturally, the price point is a very important factor when we choose our web hosting provider recommendations. We have included options suitable for varying budgets, all the way from personal blogs to small businesses and large enterprise setups that will need to scale.
  • Stability : We have included only reputable web hosting providers that provide stable services with minimal downtime. After all, there's no point in having a speedy, responsive website if downtime is a constant problem.
  • Customer experiences : If you are going to sign up for a long-term web hosting service, you need to know how the company treats and supports its customers. We have examined customer reviews and feedback.

Which web host is best for beginners?

Wix and Squarespace are the two web hosts we would recommend for beginners. With an abundance of creative templates between the two platforms, users can gain experience in web development with an attractive site. If you have experience with CMS platforms, you could look at WordPress.com.

Can you get web hosting for free?

Yes. There are many sites that allow for free hosting, but to do so, you will have a generic, branded domain. For example, if you were to have a free WordPress website, your domain would be [yourwebsitename].wordpress.com.

Be careful, though. Many of the free offers end after a period of time and then you're stuck on a service that will likely charge you a considerable additional fee to keep using it. Or, the website host may allow you to have a free website on the condition that you allow adverts to be displayed.

Who is the largest web hosting company?

GoDaddy is one of the most popular web hosting service providers. Then, of course, there are the hosting plans from Amazon and Google, which are larger (in terms of revenue) than some countries.

What are the best WordPress hosting services?

We might as well get WordPress out of the way since if we're talking web hosts, we're going to talk WordPress. About  63% of websites  with content management systems use  the open-source WordPress CMS .

The WordPress ecosystem is huge, and finding the right WordPress host is a challenge on its own. Beyond WordPress.com, the service offered by the creators of the CMS, there are a large number of managed hosting providers and an even larger number of hosting providers that specialize in providing a WordPress-optimized server for your website. Nearly every hosting provider will allow a WordPress install, considering its popularity.

What are the best Infrastructure-as-a-Service providers?

Our recommendations include IaaS providers you probably know intimately, such as Amazon. They are highly credible vendors who've been providing infrastructure for years.

If you're just starting, you might not want to go all-in with an IaaS provider, although they offer the most flexibility. Some, like Amazon and Digital Ocean, allow you to point-and-click configure virtual WordPress machines or almost any other open-source content management system you may want. It might be overkill for SMBs, though.

What are the best point-and-click website builders?

A website builder is a type of software that lets you craft your business website, generally without programming knowledge or experience. Many allow you to choose from templates and then modify those templates to suit your look and layout.

Nearly all web hosting providers include some kind of website-building software. But for most hosting plans, it's often an afterthought. By contrast, the website builders listed in this section are provided by web hosting services that have made point-and-click website building tools with excellent customer support and solid up-time a core priority in their offering.

You do sacrifice some control when choosing a website builder solution, but if you've never done any web development and you want a beautiful, usable website quickly, these services are for you. One warning: There are a lot of lock-ins here. You won't be able to transfer the look of your site (and sometimes the content) to another hosting provider easily. So keep that in mind when you choose a website builder.

Are there alternative web hosting services to consider?

There are countless web hosting providers out there and not all of them can make the list regarding our top recommendations, despite offering excellent service. Below, you will find other hosts to consider that may be more suitable for your requirements:
