free printable homework planner

If you’re a parent, you know how incredibly overwhelming it can be for students to stay on top of studying and all other homework assignments.

Especially when they’re juggling multiple classes.

Due dates can pile up quickly if they aren’t staying organized and managing their time wisely.

However, there is a tool that can be quite helpful – A printable homework planner! You’ll find a few different styles below.

Weekly homework planners

These free printables will help students plan and track all their assignments for each day of the week.

They can write down the class, a description of the homework assignment, and when it’s due. Once it’s completed it, check “done” and move on to the next!

I recommend printing a few copies at a time. Encourage your middle schooler or high schooler to keep one in their binder.

Monthly homework calendars

In addition to weekly planners , older students may benefit from a blank homework calendar as well.

It’s nice to have a bird’s-eye view of each month.

Some of these templates have extra lines below the calendar for writing down reminders and other misc. notes.

Monthly assignment and exam trackers

Some students may prefer a simple running list of what’s due each month.

With these trackers, they can write down the class, jot down a quick description of what’s due (whether it’s a basic assignment, project, or exam), and the due date.

And, of course, once the assignment is finished, they can mark done.

Homework Planner Template

The best thing I can say about this homework planner is that my own kids like it enough to want me to print a copy for them each week. The design for this planner came from a mash-up of the techniques that my brother and I used in college to organize our time. I've refined the design based on feedback from my kids (one high-schooler and two home-schoolers).

How It Works : This planner combines two very useful tools for keeping track of your homework assignments, both on a single page. First, on the left is a homework check list for each of your classes. Use it to list the assignments, due dates, and the estimated time to complete each assignment. List upcoming exams and plan times to study. Second, on the right side you can plan your week to figure out how you will get everything done.

Printable Homework Planners

The following PDF files can be printed as needed. The main difference is in the weekly schedule because high-schoolers and home-schoolers tend to do their homework at different times of the day.

Student Homework Planner PDF

License : Private Use (not for distribution or resale)

Authors: Jon Wittwer and Jim Wittwer

Description

This spreadsheet includes two separate worksheets with slightly different designs. The Homeschool design doesn't include the "time" column because we found it wasn't as critical to predict how much time a particular assignment would take. However, for high school and college, estimating the time to complete each assignment can be extremely helpful.

We designed it so that you can either print blank copies of the planner, or edit it electronically. You may be able to store and edit this planner on your mobile device if you are using Excel for iPad/iPhone or Google Sheets.

Tips for Students:

1. Customize the template: Using Excel or Word, enter your class names on the left and your typical weekly schedule. For example, use the schedule to highlight the times for each of your classes, your extracurricular activities, part-time jobs, etc.

2. Print blank copies: After customizing the template, you can print as many of these planner pages as you need, and you won't need to enter your typical weekly schedule each time.

3. Don't forget incomplete assignments: When switching to a new page each week, don't forget to go through your list of assignments and transfer the incomplete assignments to the new page.

4. Don't lose it: Keep your planner page in a folder that you always have with you. If you are worried about misplacing it, try taking a picture of it with your phone as a backup.

5. Use a mobile app: If you have a phone with the Excel or Word app or Google Docs app, and you are allowed to use a mobile device in school, you could try going paperless and editing the template on your phone. You could also try using one of the many "student planner" or "homework planner" mobile apps. The problem with this approach is that phones can be a huge distraction. If you are obsessed with Instagram or texting, it may be better to avoid using your phone if you want to get anything done.

Note to Teachers:

You are welcome to print copies of this planner to give to your students. The worksheet is pretty intuitive, but don't assume that students will know how to use it. Teach them about managing their time and help them learn how a planner can help.

One important thing that you can do to help your students is to give them a realistic estimate of how much time each assignment will take. If you get a lot of students complaining that an assignment took longer than you said, either cut back the work (if it was excessive), or use the feedback to give a better estimate next time around.

10 Homework Tips for High School Students

homework tips for high school students

Having trouble getting focused with homework? Here are 10 simple homework tips for high school students to make life much easier!

Hopefully after reading this, you’ll find a more enjoyable way to do homework while also being focused and efficient.

Let’s get started…

Prioritize Your Classes

Write down your homework everyday at school as it’s being assigned in some sort of agenda, planner, or notebook.

At the end of every day, list your homework assignments in order of how you’re going to do them. I recommend starting with the harder assignments first and finishing off with the easier ones.

Be sure to keep in mind what homework will need more time than others. If you have a project, essay, or long studying to do, start with that first.

This is going to give you the basics of how to organize your homework after school and what to prioritize.

Blue Pen, White Paper

Writing with a blue pen on white paper is the easiest way to remember your writing. It is scientifically proven to help retain information more efficiently than any other writing combo.

This is literally hacking your brain to memorize things easier. It is one of the best homework tips for high school students to use.

Try using this trick during your actual classes in school. That way when you study, you’ll already have your notes written in the best format.

Using other memory tools such as bullets, numbers, drawings, and highlights are also efficient ways to make studying a breeze.

Take breaks often.

homework tips for high school students

There is a technique in efficiency known as the Pomodoro Technique. Here is the basic formula for how it works:

  • Work for 25 minutes
  • Take a 5 minute break
  • Repeat 4 times
  • After the 4th cycle, take a longer 30 minute break

This is the best studying technique in the world for not only retaining information, but also no burning out while working on any task.

It will come in handy when you have long hours of homework that may seem impossible for your attention span.

There are actually Pomodoro timers out there online that you can use to remind you when it’s time to take a break.

Get Rid of Distractions

This one is obvious, but crucial!

Clear your desk, turn off your phone, avoid social media on your computer, and even clean your room.

A decluttered environment is a decluttered head. You will be able to focus much harder on the task at hand when there aren’t a bunch of distractions in your face.

You should also allow as much light to enter your room as possible. Open blinds, turn on lamps, and turn up your computer’s brightness (if you do homework on it).

More light in a workspace is proven to improve focus and efficiency.

Start Right When You Get Home

Getting in the habit of starting your homework right when you get home as a high school student is going to save you a lot of procrastination.

When you get home, eat something and then prepare yourself homework. Getting it done early will also give you unlimited free time until you go to sleep.

Taking your break first and then doing homework can cause anxiety from the fact that you don’t know how much time you have left to complete your assignments.

Do yourself a favor and avoid that anxiety. It feels much more rewarding to finish your homework and have the rest of your day to do whatever you want.

Finish homework during school.

This might be one of the best homework tips for high school students who don’t do much during lunch breaks.

This will save you so much time when you get home. I have literally finished over half of my homework before I even stepped foot in my house most days.

Utilize your breaks in between classes to work on smaller assignments that can be done without much focus.

Doing this homework in a group of friends that share the same classes will also help you get the homework done faster. Win-win!

Do Homework with Friends

When you get home, hop on a FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom call and do homework with friends.

This will benefit you in 2 main ways. One, you can share answers, insight, and make the work go by faster. Second, it’s simply way more fun!

You can essentially split the workload depending on the type of homework. You’ll also learn from each other, create closer bonds, and quiz each other for upcoming tests.

There are clearly many benefits to working in a group that most high school students miss out on. Even 1 friend can save you a ton of time and effort.

Utilize outside sources.

Homework doesn’t only have to be done with your class textbooks and notes from school.

Utilize certain outside sources such as Youtube, Khan Academy, and Slader.

Slader is one the greatest homework apps of all time, especially for math. It provides step by step solutions to all of your textbook’s questions.

They have so many subjects on their app! Here are a few:

  • Foreign Language

If your homework is done directly from textbook questions, chances are that Slader has the answers for you already. Look up your book name or ISBN number and find solutions to everything you need.

Same thing goes with Youtube, Khan Academy, and other online sources. This generation has more access to information than any other generation ever. Take advantage of it!

Work on a Full Stomach

Starting homework on a full stomach eliminates the need to get up from necessity.

Our brain naturally starts to focus on our hunger, thirst, or going to the bathroom if it exceeds the need of the task you’re currently doing.

When you’re doing homework, take breaks, but take them voluntarily. You won’t be able to focus one bit if your mind is on other things.

Get home, eat a nice meal, drink water, go to the bathroom, and start doing your homework. A full stomach from a good meal will also help your brain work better.

You’ve probably been told to eat a good breakfast before a test day to be “smarter”. The same thing applies to doing your homework.

Pro tip: Dark chocolate is proven to regain your focus on the task at hand. If you start getting distracted easily for no reason… have a treat.

Listen to music without lyrics.

I highly recommend listening to music while you work. However, listening to music with lyrics is a bad idea.

Find a no lyric playlist on any Music platform such as Spotify, Soundcloud, or even Youtube. Youtube has a constant live stream called “lofi hip hop radio” that has no lyrics and is excellent at helping you work.

Listening to music will not only help you focus, but it also makes homework more enjoyable. Without it, your mind will wander to different places.

Plus, music in your ears means less noise from the outside world. Everyone hates being distracted while doing homework by someone yelling outside your room.

Pop those headphones on and tunnel vision into your assignment!

Hopefully these were the best 10 homework tips for high school students you’ve ever heard. Try implementing them into your next homework session at home and in school.

They helped me so much during the last couple of years of high school. I wish for them to do the same for you!

Good luck this semester!

Listen: we know homework isn’t fun, but it is a good way to reinforce the ideas and concepts you’ve learned in class. But what if you’re really struggling with your homework assignments?

If you’ve looked online for a little extra help with your take-home assignments, you’ve probably stumbled across websites claiming to provide the homework help and answers students need to succeed . But can homework help sites really make a difference? And if so, which are the best homework help websites you can use?

Below, we answer these questions and more about homework help websites–free and paid. We’ll go over:

  • The basics of homework help websites
  • The cost of homework help websites
  • The five best homework websites out there
  • The pros and cons of using these websites for homework help
  • The line between “learning” and “cheating” when using online homework help
  • Tips for getting the most out of a homework help website

So let’s get started!

exclamation-point-g8c97d47db_640

The Basics About Homework Help Websites–Free and Paid

Homework help websites are designed to help you complete your homework assignments, plain and simple.

What Makes a Homework Help Site Worth Using

Most of the best sites allow users to ask questions and then provide an answer (or multiple possible answers) and explanation in seconds. In some instances, you can even send a photo of a particular assignment or problem instead of typing the whole thing out!

Homework help sites also offer more than just help answering homework questions. Common services provided are Q&A with experts, educational videos, lectures, practice tests and quizzes, learning modules, math solving tools, and proofreading help. Homework help sites can also provide textbook solutions (i.e. answers to problems in tons of different textbooks your school might be using), one-on-one tutoring, and peer-to-peer platforms that allow you to discuss subjects you’re learning about with your fellow students.

And best of all, nearly all of them offer their services 24/7, including tutoring!

What You Should Should Look Out For

When it comes to homework help, there are lots–and we mean lots –of scam sites out there willing to prey on desperate students. Before you sign up for any service, make sure you read reviews to ensure you’re working with a legitimate company.

A word to the wise: the more a company advertises help that veers into the territory of cheating, the more likely it is to be a scam. The best homework help websites are going to help you learn the concepts you’ll need to successfully complete your homework on your own. (We’ll go over the difference between “homework help” and “cheating” a little later!)

body-gold-piggy-bank-money

You don't need a golden piggy bank to use homework help websites. Some provide low or no cost help for students like you!

How Expensive Are the Best Homework Help Websites?

First of all, just because a homework help site costs money doesn’t mean it’s a good service. Likewise, just because a homework help website is free doesn’t mean the help isn’t high quality. To find the best websites, you have to take a close look at the quality and types of information they provide!

When it comes to paid homework help services, the prices vary pretty widely depending on the amount of services you want to subscribe to. Subscriptions can cost anywhere from $2 to $150 dollars per month, with the most expensive services offering several hours of one-on-one tutoring with a subject expert per month.

The 5 Best Homework Help Websites

So, what is the best homework help website you can use? The answer is that it depends on what you need help with.

The best homework help websites are the ones that are reliable and help you learn the material. They don’t just provide answers to homework questions–they actually help you learn the material.

That’s why we’ve broken down our favorite websites into categories based on who they’re best for . For instance, the best website for people struggling with math might not work for someone who needs a little extra help with science, and vice versa.

Keep reading to find the best homework help website for you!

Best Free Homework Help Site: Khan Academy

  • Price: Free!
  • Best for: Practicing tough material

Not only is Khan Academy free, but it’s full of information and can be personalized to suit your needs. When you set up your account , you choose which courses you need to study, and Khan Academy sets up a personal dashboard of instructional videos, practice exercises, and quizzes –with both correct and incorrect answer explanations–so you can learn at your own pace.

As an added bonus, it covers more course topics than many other homework help sites, including several AP classes.

Runner Up: Brainly.com offers a free service that allows you to type in questions and get answers and explanations from experts. The downside is that you’re limited to two answers per question and have to watch ads.

Best Paid Homework Help Site: Chegg

  • Price: $14.95 to $19.95 per month
  • Best for: 24/7 homework assistance

This service has three main parts . The first is Chegg Study, which includes textbook solutions, Q&A with subject experts, flashcards, video explanations, a math solver, and writing help. The resources are thorough, and reviewers state that Chegg answers homework questions quickly and accurately no matter when you submit them.

Chegg also offers textbook rentals for students who need access to textbooks outside of their classroom. Finally, Chegg offers Internship and Career Advice for students who are preparing to graduate and may need a little extra help with the transition out of high school.

Another great feature Chegg provides is a selection of free articles geared towards helping with general life skills, like coping with stress and saving money. Chegg’s learning modules are comprehensive, and they feature solutions to the problems in tons of different textbooks in a wide variety of subjects.

Runner Up: Bartleby offers basically the same services as Chegg for $14.99 per month. The reason it didn’t rank as the best is based on customer reviews that say user questions aren’t answered quite as quickly on this site as on Chegg. Otherwise, this is also a solid choice!

body-photomath-logo-2

Best Site for Math Homework Help: Photomath

  • Price: Free (or $59.99 per year for premium services)
  • Best for: Explaining solutions to math problems

This site allows you to t ake a picture of a math problem, and instantly pulls up a step-by-step solution, as well as a detailed explanation of the concept. Photomath also includes animated videos that break down mathematical concepts to help you better understand and remember them.

The basic service is free, but for an additional fee you can get extra study tools and learn additional strategies for solving common math problems.

Runner Up: KhanAcademy offers in-depth tutorials that cover complex math topics for free, but you won’t get the same tailored help (and answers!) that Photomath offers.

Best Site for English Homework Help: Princeton Review Academic Tutoring

  • Price: $40 to $153 per month, depending on how many hours of tutoring you want
  • Best for: Comprehensive and personalized reading and writing help

While sites like Grammarly and Sparknotes help you by either proofreading what you write via an algorithm or providing book summaries, Princeton Review’s tutors provide in-depth help with vocabulary, literature, essay writing and development, proofreading, and reading comprehension. And unlike other services, you’ll have the chance to work with a real person to get help.

The best part is that you can get on-demand English (and ESL) tutoring from experts 24/7. That means you can get help whenever you need it, even if you’re pulling an all-nighter!

This is by far the most expensive homework site on this list, so you’ll need to really think about what you need out of a homework help website before you commit. One added benefit is that the subscription covers over 80 other subjects, including AP classes, which can make it a good value if you need lots of help!

body-studtypool-logo

Best Site for STEM Homework Help: Studypool

  • Best for: Science homework help
  • Price: Varies; you’ll pay for each question you submit

When it comes to science homework help, there aren’t a ton of great resources out there. The best of the bunch is Studypool, and while it has great reviews, there are some downsides as well.

Let’s start with the good stuff. Studypool offers an interesting twist on the homework help formula. After you create a free account, you can submit your homework help questions, and tutors will submit bids to answer your questions. You’ll be able to select the tutor–and price point–that works for you, then you’ll pay to have your homework question answered. You can also pay a small fee to access notes, lectures, and other documents that top tutors have uploaded.

The downside to Studypool is that the pricing is not transparent . There’s no way to plan for how much your homework help will cost, especially if you have lots of questions! Additionally, it’s not clear how tutors are selected, so you’ll need to be cautious when you choose who you’d like to answer your homework questions.

What Are the Pros and Cons of Using Homework Help Sites?

Homework help websites can be a great resource if you’re struggling in a subject, or even if you just want to make sure that you’re really learning and understanding topics and ideas that you’re interested in. But, there are some possible drawbacks if you don’t use these sites responsibly.

We’ll go over the good–and the not-so-good–aspects of getting online homework help below.

3 Pros of Using Homework Help Websites

First, let’s take a look at the benefits.

#1: Better Grades Beyond Homework

This is a big one! Getting outside help with your studies can improve your understanding of concepts that you’re learning, which translates into better grades when you take tests or write essays.

Remember: homework is designed to help reinforce the concepts you learned in class. If you just get easy answers without learning the material behind the problems, you may not have the tools you need to be successful on your class exams…or even standardized tests you’ll need to take for college.

#2: Convenience

One of the main reasons that online homework help is appealing is because it’s flexible and convenient. You don’t have to go to a specific tutoring center while they’re open or stay after school to speak with your teacher. Instead, you can access helpful resources wherever you can access the internet, whenever you need them.

This is especially true if you tend to study at off hours because of your extracurriculars, work schedule, or family obligations. Sites that offer 24/7 tutoring can give you the extra help you need if you can’t access the free resources that are available at your school.

#3: Variety

Not everyone learns the same way. Maybe you’re more of a visual learner, but your teacher mostly does lectures. Or maybe you learn best by listening and taking notes, but you’re expected to learn something just from reading the textbook .

One of the best things about online homework help is that it comes in a variety of forms. The best homework help sites offer resources for all types of learners, including videos, practice activities, and even one-on-one discussions with real-life experts.

This variety can also be a good thing if you just don’t really resonate with the way a concept is being explained (looking at you, math textbooks!).

Not so fast. There are cons to homework help websites, too. Get to know them below!

3 Cons of Using Homework Help Websites

Now, let’s take a look at the drawbacks of online homework help.

#1: Unreliable Info

This can be a real problem. In addition to all the really good homework help sites, there are a whole lot of disreputable or unreliable sites out there. The fact of the matter is that some homework help sites don’t necessarily hire people who are experts in the subjects they’re talking about. In those cases, you may not be getting the accurate, up-to-date, and thorough information you need.

Additionally, even the great sites may not be able to answer all of your homework questions. This is especially true if the site uses an algorithm or chatbot to help students…or if you’re enrolled in an advanced or college-level course. In these cases, working with your teacher or school-provided tutors are probably your best option.

#2: No Clarification

This depends on the service you use, of course. But the majority of them provide free or low-cost help through pre-recorded videos. Watching videos or reading info online can definitely help you with your homework… but you can’t ask questions or get immediate feedback if you need it .

#3: Potential For Scamming

Like we mentioned earlier, there are a lot of homework help websites out there, and lots of them are scams. The review comments we read covered everything from outdated or wrong information, to misleading claims about the help provided, to not allowing people to cancel their service after signing up.

No matter which site you choose to use, make sure you research and read reviews before you sign up–especially if it’s a paid service!

body-cheat-cheating-cc0

When Does “Help” Become “Cheating”?

Admittedly, whether using homework help websites constitutes cheating is a bit of a grey area. For instance, is it “help” when a friend reads your essay for history class and corrects your grammar, or is it “cheating”? The truth is, not everyone agrees on when “help” crosses the line into “cheating .” When in doubt, it can be a good idea to check with your teacher to see what they think about a particular type of help you want to get.

That said, a general rule of thumb to keep in mind is to make sure that the assignment you turn in for credit is authentically yours . It needs to demonstrate your own thoughts and your own current abilities. Remember: the point of every homework assignment is to 1) help you learn something, and 2) show what you’ve learned.

So if a service answers questions or writes essays for you, there’s a good chance using it constitutes cheating.

Here’s an example that might help clarify the difference for you. Brainstorming essay ideas with others or looking online for inspiration is “help” as long as you write the essay yourself. Having someone read it and give you feedback about what you need to change is also help, provided you’re the one that makes the changes later.

But copying all or part of an essay you find online or having someone write (or rewrite) the whole thing for you would be “cheating.” The same is true for other subjects. Ultimately, if you’re not generating your own work or your own answers, it’s probably cheating.

5 Tips for Finding the Best Homework Help Websites for You

Now that you know some of our favorite homework help websites, free and paid, you can start doing some additional research on your own to decide which services might work best for you! Here are some top tips for choosing a homework help website.

Tip 1: Decide How You Learn Best

Before you decide which site or sites you’re going to use for homework help, y ou should figure out what kind of learning style works for you the most. Are you a visual learner? Then choose a site that uses lots of videos to help explain concepts. If you know you learn best by actually doing tasks, choose a site that provides lots of practice exercises.

Tip 2: Determine Which Subjects You Need Help With

Just because a homework help site is good overall doesn’t mean that it’s equally good for every subject. If you only need help in math, choose a site that specializes in that area. But if history is where you’re struggling, a site that specializes in math won’t be much help. So make sure to choose a site that you know provides high-quality help in the areas you need it most.

Tip 3: Decide How Much One-On-One Help You Need

This is really about cost-effectiveness. If you learn well on your own by reading and watching videos, a free site like Khan Academy is a good choice. But if you need actual tutoring, or to be able to ask questions and get personalized answers from experts, a paid site that provides that kind of service may be a better option.

Tip 4: Set a Budget

If you decide you want to go with a paid homework help website, set a budget first . The prices for sites vary wildly, and the cost to use them can add up quick.

Tip 5: Read the Reviews

Finally, it’s always a good idea to read actual reviews written by the people using these homework sites. You’ll learn the good, the bad, and the ugly of what the users’ experiences have been. This is especially true if you intend to subscribe to a paid service. You’ll want to make sure that users think it’s worth the price overall!

The Best High School Homework Tools and Tips

This post is sponsored by Casio. All opinions stated are entirely mine.

We are several weeks into the new school year, and I find myself breathless on the couch at the end of every day. Did we manage to get everything done today? Did we forget any kids around town? Did all the kids get to their scheduled activities, do their homework, AND get fed?! These are questions I ask myself on a daily basis.

Our four boys are back in school full-time after 18 months of hybrid learning. On top of that, they each have at least one after-school activity, friends to see, and of course routine medical and dental appointments to clutter our calendar. Needless to say, this is why we as a family are exhausted once the sun sets on our day.

However, there’s one child who continually blows me away with his stamina and positive outlook. Our high schooler is so genuinely happy to be back in school full time that he doesn’t complain over his academic workload or after-school activities.

Even while doing homework at 9:30 pm, he greets me with a big smile and says “goodnight mom, I will be done soon.”

It’s during times like these, I am thankful for the homework strategies we implemented early on in the kids’ school career.

Will our homework strategies prevent us from having late nights, stress, even forgotten or missed assignments? Of course not! No homework system is perfect and as we all know, life is full of thrown monkey wrenches.

However, putting systems in place with the best homework tools, organization and strategies will make the high school journey less bumpy. And I am sure all parents of teenagers want smooth sailing through the high school years.

So what’s needed to establish good homework habits in a high schooler? I am sharing our best homework tools, organization, and strategies.

High School Homework Tools

Before school started, I helped each of our kids set up their homework stations in their rooms. Unpacking the pencils and notebooks was fun, because who doesn’t love a fresh set of school supplies?! But the highlight of the experience was when our high schooler unpacked his new Casio FX-9750GIII calculator .

Stand back, people. The Casio FX-9750GIII calculator is more like a mini-computer and miles from the little “solar-powered” corporate promotional freebie I used when I was in high school.

I wish I had captured the sparkle and utter amazement in our high schooler’s eyes when he took his new Casio FX-9750GIII for a test drive. He flung more high-level math terms at me than I have heard in decades. Suddenly, it was as if he was speaking in tongue, holding his Casio FX-9750GIII calculator in the air like it was the Holy Grail.

Our high school Freshman (9th grade) is currently taking Algebra II with a class of Juniors (11th grade). He’s our little math wiz who thrives on numbers and calculations. The predictability of math and the challenge of finding the right answer has always been his jam.

The complexity and capabilities of the Casio FX-9750GIII blew him away. At first glance, the calculator looked rather intimidating. However, after checking out the online tutorials and videos, our little numbers guy was well on his way to making graphs on his new calculator.

The homework tools your high schooler needs are:

  • Setting up a homework station in their room works well for our two oldest kids.
  • I stock up on these items during the back-to-school sales and then keep a stockpile year-round.
  • Computer/ laptop.
  • Regardless of which level of math your high schooler is taking, the Casio FX-9750GIII calculator is the right machine – and it will take them through their high school career.

Casio calculator

Reasons we love our Casio FX-9750GIII calculator:

  • It is approved for the SAT®, PSAT®, ACT® and AP® tests.
  • 200+ hour battery life.
  • Affordable technology for middle and high school math classes.
  • All-in-one graphing calculator.
  • Easy-to-navigate icons menu.
  • Spreadsheet and geometry modes.
  • Programmable features.
  • Step-by-step videos and tutorials on the website.
  • I am no longer the go-to math tutor.

The Casio FX-9750GIII calculator is the perfect parenting partner. I handle the parenting issues relating to social and emotional issues while the Casio FX-9750GIII calculator answers math questions!

The Homework Planner includes the following pages:

  • Homework Assignments
  • Project Planner
  • Goal Setting

We use one page of the Homework Assignments for each of our student’s subjects and keep a current page in their daily binder.

When your kids start high school, you quickly realize the days of sitting down for several hours concentrated to do homework are a thing of the past. Once the busy schedule of a high schooler becomes a reality, there may only be small pockets of time throughout the afternoon and evening to complete tasks. However, with a good overview of what’s due and when your student can successfully manage his time and assignments.

Some homework assignments take only 10-15 minutes and with proper planning, your student can check those tasks off in-between activities or while waiting to eat dinner.

Print the free homework tracker and planner and put it to good use right away.

High School Homework Strategy and Stamina

As with any activity, it takes practice to build study stamina . At the beginning of the school year, the kids most likely feel rusty and tire after a few minutes of deep concentration.

These strategies help our kids to build their homework stamina in no time:

  • (Due to COVID, our kids take showers and change clothes as soon as they come home. This step acts as a great mind-reset and helps them quickly recharge before they sit down to do homework.)
  • It’s not like you have to force a teenager to eat, as they wake up hungry, go to bed hungry, and seem to spend every waking moment foraging for snacks in the pantry. However, making an effort to have healthier snack options readily available is beneficial to your constantly grazing teen.
  • Start with the hardest tasks first, while your mind is fresh.
  • Break down assignments into smaller, more manageable tasks (use the attached free homework planner to keep track of the various tasks).

As I write this, my head is spinning from trying to juggle our family’s daily tasks along with the transportation needs of our four kids. Once the kids come home from school, it is such a relief to know that they have the skills and the tools required to do their homework.

Of course, the kids need guidance, advice, and help from time to time, but that’s what I am here for – the parenting aspect of raising kids. The math part – that’s best left to the experts, like the Casio FX-9750GIII calculator .

Philadelphia barber shop helps high school students learn entrepreneurial skills while giving back

WPVI logo

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Good Morning America was in North Philadelphia on Monday, highlighting a barber shop that not only helps high school students learn to be entrepreneurs but also gives back to the community.

In the heart of the city, there's a contagious camaraderie found at Mustang Barber Shop inside Dobbins Technical High School, where the barbers behind the clippers are actually some of the high school students.

"It's a fun experience," said student Kasseam Johnson. "You just come in here and be yourself."

The program prepares these high school students to become licensed barbers.

GMA corespondent Janai Norman explained that these students learn how to cut hair and also how to run a business.

"We are the only barbershop program within our city," said Principal Shervon Thompson. "Our students can actually walk out being an entrepreneur."

On top of learning about tapers and fades, these students are also giving back.

high school homework log

Faheem Alexander has worked with celebrities. He now runs the program and says giving back to the community is an important piece.

"Dobbins just went to Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church on Saturday, and we gave haircuts there," said teacher Angela Miller. "If you give a student a career, you're giving them an opportunity. You're giving them the sky. The sky's the limit."

"If you are in need of haircuts, please come to the school. The haircuts are free," Alexander added. "You can get your dreadlocks done for free. You can get facials for free."

But before GMA left town, they had a surprise for these students and teachers.

Not only did Philly's own Questlove give a special shotuout, but they also got a surprise from the grooming company Bevel.

"This is such a big blessing, beyond measures," Miller said during the surprise.

"Thank you all for coming to the school and recognizing us, thank you so much," added student Paige Perry.

Baltimore high school athletic director used AI to create fake racist audio of principal: Police

Dazhon Darien allegedly retaliated against Eric Eisworth, investigators said.

Police arrested a Baltimore high school athletic director Thursday after they said they discovered he allegedly used artificial intelligence to create a phony audio recording of the school's principal that went viral and cost the school leader his job temporarily and his safety.

Principal Eric Eisworth was removed from his position at Pikesville High School after the school district began investigating the audio clip that was circulated among staff and social media in January where it appeared Eisworth made racist comments against Black and Jewish persons, investigators allege.

The three-month probe, which involved local police and the FBI, concluded that the audio was forged using AI tools by Dazhon Darien, the athletic director at the school, according to Baltimore Chief of Police Robert McCollough.

PHOTO: In this Jan. 30, 2024, file photo, the sign for Pikesville High School is shown in Pikesville, Maryland.

"Detectives alleged Mr. Darien…made the recording to retaliate against the principal who had launched an investigation into the potential mishandling of school funds," McCollough told reporters at a news conference Thursday.

MORE: Experts warn of rise in scammers using AI to mimic voices of loved ones in distress

The situation began on Jan. 16, when the recording that appeared to be a conversation between Eisworth and an assistant principal first circulated, according to the charging documents.

In the audio, Eisworth allegedly claimed Black students were unable to "test their way out of a paper bag" and made "disparaging comments" about Jewish individuals and two teachers, the charging document said.

Investigators said the audio had "profound repercussions" for Eisworth and the school community.

"It not only led to Eisworth's temporary removal but also triggered a wave of hate-filled messages on social media and numerous calls to the school," the charging document said.

As school officials began investigating the incident, Eisworth maintained that the conversation in the audio never happened and told investigators that Darien, 31, may have been involved because he was good with technology, according to the charging document.

PHOTO: In this Jan. 17, 2024, file photo, a school bus for Baltimore County Public Schools is shown.

Eisworth ordered an investigation into Darien in December over allegations that he misused school funds, the charging document said.

Darien was one of three teachers who first received the audio from a mysterious e-mail, the charging document read. One of the other teachers told investigators she forwarded the message to a Pikesville High student "who she knew would rapidly spread the message around various social media outlets," according to the charging documents.

The unidentified teacher also forwarded the audio to several media outlets and groups including the NAACP, investigators said.

That teacher initially kept information from investigators that indicated that Darien was one of the original recipients of the message, the charging document said.

When Darien was questioned by investigators, he claimed that he did not know who the person was who sent him the audio, according to investigators. However, investigators were able to determine that the email address that sent out the audio was registered to Darien, the charging document said.

The Baltimore Police Department provided the audio to two forensic analysts who specialize in AI and they determined the recording had elements of AI-generated content, according to the charging document.

Detectives allege that Darien used his Large Language Models, such as OpenAI and Bing chat, to create the recording. The charging document claimed that Darien has a paid OpenAI account, which gives users more features than the free version.

He was arrested at Thurgood Marshall Airport Thursday morning as he was trying to board a flight to Houston and charged with several criminal counts including disrupting a school operation and stalking, police and charging documents said.

Investigators said that Darien tried to declare a gun at the airport and that triggered a security check that revealed the arrest warrant issued last night.

The investigation is ongoing.

Darien was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond Thursday afternoon. Attorney information for the defendant wasn't immediately available.

Baltimore County School Superintendent Myriam Rogers told reporters that the administrative process to discipline Darien has begun which she said could lead to his termination.

She added that the school is also investigating the other teachers who were involved in spreading the audio.

Rogers said that for now, interim leaders would serve out the rest of the school year at Pikesville High School while the investigation continues.

"We will work with principal Eisworth and the Pikesville community concerning next year," she said.

"We are grateful we can bring some sense closure to the community and we can now shift our focus to moving forward and providing all parties with a fresh start," Rogers added.

  • The deepfake recording imitated Eric Eiswert making racist and antisemitic remarks.
  • Local authorities have called for changes to the law to protect against the misuse of AI technology.

Insider Today

A Maryland high school athletics director, Dazhon Darien, has been arrested and charged with stalking and theft after an AI deepfake audio recording of the school's principal, which included racist remarks, was shared online.

The recording, which was posted on social media in January, was circulated widely, and people were led to believe that it was the voice of Eric Eiswert, local police reported.

Eiswert is the principal of Pikesville High School in the suburbs of Baltimore.

The deepfake audio included a tirade against black students, which led to Eiswert being inundated by threats, per The New York Times .

"It's believed Mr. Darien, who was an Athletic Director at Pikesville High School, made the recording to retaliate against Mr. Eiswert who at the time was pursuing an investigation into the potential mishandling of school funds," police said in a statement shared online.

Darien faces charges of stalking, theft, disruption of school operations, and retaliation against a witness.

AI deepfakes are a growing concern

Police used forensic analysis to determine that the recording was made using AI.

"Based on an extensive investigation, detectives now have conclusive evidence the recording was not authentic. As part of their investigation, detectives requested a forensic analyst contracted with the FBI to analyze the recording," police said.

Authorities said in a news conference that the case is believed to be among the first of its kind in the country. And they are calling for changes to the law to bring it up to date with new technology.

"It will likely require us to examine laws at both the state and federal levels to ensure that this new technology, and those still yet to come, cannot be used in ways that harm individuals and our communities," Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said.

Deepfakes are becoming more prevalent as advancements in AI open up new ways for companies and individuals to be exposed to malicious actors.

There are concerns over the new ways these deepfakes can be manipulated in the workplace. One company in Hong Kong was tricked out of $25 million after scammers targeted an employee using deepfakes of his senior colleagues. The FBI has also warned that more and more people have used the technology to pose as someone else in job interviews .

There are also fears that AI deepfakes could threaten free and fair elections as it becomes easier for people to spread misinformation.

Earlier this year, some New Hampshire voters received deepfake calls from what they thought was Joe Biden telling them not to vote in the presidential primary election. The White House wants to "cryptographically verify" videos of Joe Biden so viewers don't mistake real videos for deepfakes.

IE school celebrates alum Jayden Daniels' selection at No. 2 in NFL draft

Leticia Juarez Image

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) -- Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who played high school football in Southern California, will head to Washington after the Commanders selected him second overall in Thursday's NFL draft.

The news was met with celebration at his alma mater, Cajon High School in San Bernardino, where the community gathered to cheer on their local product.

"It's so special to be a first round, second pick of a draft," said the high school's athletic director, Richard Imbriani. "Couldn't dream of a better day today. So excited for him."

Daniels won the Heisman trophy last year playing quarterback for LSU. His high school held a celebration and parade and named the football stadium for him.

Imbriani worked with Daniels since he was a freshman and could see the tremendous talent right away.

"To do what he did as a freshman - and start as a quarterback on a varsity team that was good - he's been special for a very long time."

Another top-ranked quarterback with Southern California ties - Caleb Williams of USC - was drafted at No. 1 by the Chicago Bears.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story misnamed Daniels' alma mater. This has since been corrected.
