Learning styles are the basis on how students learn. There are different learning styles. Three of the most popular ones are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic in which students use to absorb information. On one hand, students’ motivation is an internal drive of the students to do a task on their own will. The study used a univariate likert scale questionnaire among Senior High School Students in Jagobiao National High School to 244 individuals. Questionnaires were sent directly to targeted segment. Firstly, the respondents reported that they absorb information best using hearing aspects known as auditory learners. Secondly, they absorb information by visualizing or the visual learners. Lastly, the respondents describe that they learn through actions or the kinesthetic learners. The finding of the study is not statistically significant between students’ learning styles and self-motivation because the ANOVA presented that the result is greater than the alpha in which the decision is f...

This study was conducted in order to examine the probable differences among the study habits of students on different academic levels: freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Taiwanese universities. Thus, 14 departments were randomly chosen in three universities in central Taiwan. In total, 964 respondents were considered in this study. The research instrument was a 24-item questionnaire adopted from the Study Skill Assessment Questionnaire, originally developed by University of Houston Clear Lake, Texas. The questionnaire items used in this study clustered three study habits/skills constructs (eight items each) which were: time management and procrastination, study aids and note-taking, and organizing and processing information. Applying a Pearson Chi-square test (a ≤.05) for each of the 24 items of the questionnaire, it was revealed that there is no significant difference among students of different years with respect to item 4 (preparing a “to do” list), item 18 (breaking a...

The K to 12 Program was implemented to equip Filipino learners with skills and competencies to address the demands of the 21st Century. However, national and international assessment studies reflect the need of continuously improving the quality of basic education in the Philippines. This problem on education was exacerbated by the occurrence of COVID-19 pandemic. Each student has their own understanding and capabilities. Improvement on learning may be brought by considering students’ learning preference which can tell the way they acquire or understand information. In this regard, this study developed learning activities and determined the effects on the learning of students of different learning preferences in Oro Site High School. The researcher employed a descriptive developmental research method. The participants took the VARK questionnaire and identified four (4) groups of learning preference. Consequently, supplementary learning activities were developed which addressed the learning preferences identified from the respondents. Hence, each topic consists of visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic activities which was given and accomplished by students. The nature of engagement of the learners were documented through the journal entry guide. Based on their responses, the developed activities aroused varying forms of engagement which gauge them to accomplish the activities. As a result, the learning activities promotes a numerical and adjectival improvement on the students’ conceptual understanding. Further studies may be conducted in line with the present undertaking considering control and experimental group of students to have a basis for comparison anent the effect of learning activities based on students’ learning preferences.

When there is a mismatch in students’ learning styles and learning experiences employed by teachers, academic performance of students becomes at risk. This study aimed to determine the relationships among learning experiences, learning styles, and academic performance of the students. Descriptive correlation design was utilized in the study. The respondents were 120 public secondary school students in Davao City Schools Division. Respondents were selected through quota sampling technique. Modified and validated survey questionnaires comprised of learning experiences and learning styles were utilized. The statistical tools employed for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, Pearson Product Moment Correlation, and regression analysis. The findings of the study revealed that learning experiences was high and was oftentimes manifested or practiced in school by students. In terms of profile, most of students were visual learners and few were kinesthetic. The level of academic performance of students in MAPEH was very satisfactory. The test of correlation revealed that there was a significant relationship between learning experiences and academic performance in MAPEH. An increase in learning experiences enhances students’ performance in MAPEH. Furthermore, there was a significant relationship between auditory and kinesthetic learning styles of students and their academic performance in MAPEH. Further, events as learning experience significantly influenced academic performance of public secondary students in MAPEH.
