The Ghost movie review: This one is for action movie lovers and Nag fans

Even in his heydays as a hero, Nagarjuna has not attempted as intense an action movie as 'The Ghost'.

Senior hero Nagarjuna has served up an action flick, The Ghost , on the occasion of Dasara. Director Praveen Sattaru, who took slick action up a few notches with PSV Garuda Vega , has again chosen the action genre — and has placed vintage Nagarjuna in the milieu. Has this hero-director duo impressed? Read on.

Why is he The Ghost?

Vikram (Nagarjuna Akkineni) and Priya (Sonal Chauhan) are Interpol officers known for their ruthless handling of criminals. Especially Vikram, a no-nonsense guy who doesn’t think even a second before eliminating the baddies, is so feared by dreaded criminals that the underworld has named him “The Ghost”.

There is something in his past that haunts Vikram and makes him so ruthless with criminals. His anger aggravates when the victims involved are children and women.

And things only get more dangerous and personal when Vikram’s sister Anupama Nair (Gul Panag) and his niece Aditi (Anikha Surendran) get embroiled with gangsters.

Why Anupama and Aditi’s lives are in danger and whether Vikram will succeed in saving them lies at the soul of The Ghost .

Action and emotion

The Ghost story has both action and emotional elements. With corporate deals and boardroom politics adding to the action, and family elements bringing in the emotion, the movie has enough substance to keep the audience engaged.

But Praveen Sattaru has banked heavily on action , neglecting the other interesting aspects. More focus on emotions, family sentiments and relationships — given its large cast of characters — would have made The Ghost better.

Despite this drawback, barring a few moments in the second half, most of the movie is gripping.

Casting turns heads

What is most noticeable about The Ghost is its impressive casting. This is definitely a new genre for Nagarjuna, who has mostly been associated with romantic comedies and family entertainers.

He has not tried this intense an action flick even during the heydays of his career. His fans will love him in this role.

Sonal Chauhan has a meaty role as an Interpol officer and Nag’s partner, and holds her own.

Gul Panag is impressive as a single mom struggling hard to protect her child, a large corporate conglomerate, and the family’s reputation.

And Anikha Surendran is a revelation. This one-time child actor has grown into a chirpy and lively young girl. Manish Chaudhari, Ravi Varma, Srikant Iyengar, Jayaprakash and others have played significant roles.

Action choreography stands out

Being an intense action movie, The Ghost has numerous action sequences. Action choreographers Kecha Khamphakdee and Dinesh Subbarayan have done an impressive job.

Cinematographer Mukesh has shot the movie in the stylish way required of the genre. And editor Dharamendra Kakarala has done a neat job, but could have made the second half even more compact — that’s where the momentum drops a bit.

Mark K Robins’ music could have been better.

The Ghost Movie Review: High on body count, low on originality

Rating: ( 2.5 / 5).

2022 seems to be the year of swashbuckling spies, guns, and dead kids. While watching  The Ghost  it is hard to shake off the memories of  Vikram  and  Beast  in multiple instances. Similarities to one of these films should be leading to enjoyable results, right? Unfortunately, that’s not the case here. Every time we feel the film shows some promise, we are almost immediately given a reality check and told to keep our expectations under control. We keep rooting for the film to go a notch higher but it keeps refusing.

Director: Praveen Sattaru

Cast: Nagarjuna, Sonal Chouhan, Gul Panag, Anikha Surendran

Nagarjuna plays an Interpol officer named Vikram (his first film in 1986 was named Vikram, allow me to remind you) and he is introduced in an Arabian desert, taking down a battalion of a suspicious, unnamed group of militants. He is joined by Priya (Sonal Chouhan) and together they wipe the hell out of the bad guys. They take down the last man and instantaneously begin kissing as the action sequence segues into a romantic montage song that plants information about Vikram’s struggles with trauma and his dear relationship with his adopted family. It is a bit jarring and it assures you to gain momentum. The actual action begins—or you think so—after the song when Vikram and Priya are on a mission to rescue a kid from a bunch of kidnappers. It starts with an uninspiring chase and ends with a tragedy, propelling Vikram to take down the whole underworld. When the film’s title appears, we are brimming with excitement, but the pleasure is only momentary with our curiosity being put to rest almost immediately with a text, ‘5 years later’. What happened to Vikram’s rage and the mission he set out on? We have to wait for that. This, I believe, is the biggest problem with the film: its refusal to focus on the amusement—violence and action—and insistence to meander on a rather generic plotline for an excessive runtime.

We hope to see Vikram hunt down thugs of the underworld in style, but before we get to that, we have to sit through a painfully long and generic set-up that features the protagonist double up as a guardian for his sister-like Anu (Gul Panag) and her reckless daughter Adithi (Anika Surendran). The conflict is not just bad guys after their lives but boardroom politics too. I would be lying if I say I wasn’t reminded of Trivikram’s recent films where the conflict is all about shares and stocks in a company. These portions of the film make you restless to see the action we signed up for.

When the film eventually enters the action zone in the final 35 minutes, it is entertaining, despite lacking inventiveness. The reveal about the origin of Vikram’s sobriquet, 'The Ghost’ is strongly reminiscent of the Babayaga story from  John Wick (2014). It is a concerned father warning his son about the repercussions of the grave mistake the latter has committed in both films. The highly hyped-up Katana sword is put to terrific effect here with dozens of glorious kills in the second half. The final 30 minutes of the film, suffused with bodies, blood, knives and guns, serve as a much-needed departure from the generic-ness that pervaded the set-up and the pay-off is indeed a treat to behold.

Dharmendra Kakarala’s editing complements the action choreography by Dinesh Subbarayan and Kecha Khamphadkee superbly in the effective flashback sequence, collectively infusing energy into the overall mood. Mukesh G’s choice to punctuate red in an action sequence—featuring a blood red moon—set in a boat with neon lighting, darkness, and silhouettes in other action sequences lend a wonderful style to the whole origin story. The wide image of a hooded man holding a sword in the rain while dozens kneel before him, begging for mercy, is perhaps the best frame in the film. I wish  The Ghost  was actually about… the ghost and less about Vikram and boardroom politics.

The action sequences are delightfully violent—bodies are chopped into pieces with the sword, a thug is beheaded and then his head is shot, making it explode like a watermelon, and there are countless headshots—and almost rescue the film. However, I wish there was a stronger purpose to the action here. The climactic action sequence, set in a church, is superbly shot but you can’t help but wonder about the futility of the whole sequence. The need for action and violence is barely registered, reducing the sequence to a deliberately crafted set-piece for the sake of spectacle.

While we naturally accept to suspend our disbelief when we walk into a movie theatre,  The Ghost  expects a tad too much from us, barely trying to care for the reality. Physics is secondary; it is fine if the hero dodges all the hundreds of bullets. Emotions are primary; shouldn’t a person who is raging with sadness and anger at least attempt to take a shot at someone when he is in a position to, instead of waiting for the hero to finish off every man standing? Such glaring direction errors break the interest the film just managed to grab from us.

If there’s someone in the cast who gets the best deal after Nagarjuna, it is Sonal Chouhan, who puts up a surprisingly effective show in the action sequences. She is believable and moreover, not once does her character seek help from the man here. She always saves herself and others. Sad that she couldn't save the whole film though.

The Ghost  is, in a way, a quintessential revenge drama that’s packaged with the flourishes of a modern-day actioner. To rehash a classic review line—just like the film is a rehash of many films—The Ghost is an old bullet in a new gun. It could have been what  Vikram  was to Kamal Haasan, but ends up being what  Beast  was to Vijay.

We Have a Ghost movie review: David Harbour is dependably strong in Netflix’s hollow horror comedy

We have a ghost movie review: a passable throwback to a more innocent era in hollywood filmmaking, netflix's new horror comedy can't help but feel a little cynical..

we have a ghost movie review in telugu

From writer-director Christopher Landon comes We Have a Ghost, a new horror-comedy that might make Dinesh Vijan pull out a piece of paper and begin to take down notes. Like a mashup between Casper and The Haunting of Hill House, the new Netflix film stars Anthony Mackie as Frank, a businessman with a spotty track record and a chip on his shoulder, and David Harbour as the friendly ghost Ernest, whose existence Frank decides to greedily monetise.

But the two Marvel alumni appear only in supporting roles here; the protagonist is played by newcomer Jahi Di’Allo Winston, best known for the Sundance film Charm City Kings. He plays the angsty teenager Kevin, who is tired of all the ‘fresh starts’ that his family has attempted, mainly because of his father’s missteps. There’s a sense that everybody, including Kevin’s older brother and their mother, is fed up with Frank’s get-rich-quick schemes. But the entire family begrudgingly agrees to humour him when Ernest appears in the attic of their new home and Frank sees dollar signs.

we have a ghost movie review in telugu

It’s immediately established that Ernest isn’t meant to be scary. He has a combover, he dresses like Walter Sobchak from The Big Lebowski, and is a little disappointed when Kevin tells him that his personal life is ‘1000 times scarier’ than he could ever be. They develop a fast friendship, but the movie doesn’t quite explain why Ernest is so trusting of Kevin. Nor does Landon bother to spell out why exactly Kevin is so unhappy.

Nevertheless, Kevin finds companionship in Ernest, before his dad spots business potential and decides to post videos of him on YouTube. The premise isn’t dissimilar to last year’s wonderful animated film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On , about a little shell person who, though sheer kindness alone, helps a recently divorced man get back on his feet. Ernest provides similar emotional support to Kevin, while quietly going on his own personal journey.

“We can’t touch you, but you can touch us,” Kevin says in one of their earliest interactions, foreshadowing the impact that Ernest will have on him. But Kevin is too unsure of himself to assume that he will be of any use to him. He is, of course, eventually. But first, he must deal with the sudden attention that his father’s videos bring to their family, and Ernest. The videos attract all sorts of oddballs to their property, including daytime news anchors and a grifter Jesus Christ. Tailed by a CIA agent straight out of an Amblin adventure, Kevin decides to take matters in his own hands as he goes on a mission to explore Ernest’s past, and help him along on his journey.

Festive offer

We Have a Ghost is indefensibly overlong, which is odd for a movie aimed at kids with short attention spans. It also can’t help but feel a little disposable, which isn’t a great place to be in, especially in an era that is thriving on similarly unmemorable ‘content’. But its biggest crime, by far, is not using the scene-stealing Jennifer Coolidge to her full potential.

The trouble with movies like this is that even though they’re competently made and invariably feature talented (and sometimes very popular) actors, they’re greenlit not because somebody desperately wanted to make them, but because streamers have quarterly targets to meet. There’s something so synthetic about even the most emotional scenes in We Have a Ghost. This wasn’t the case even a decade-and-a-half ago, when similarly derivative films like Super 8 and Transformers managed to have heart despite all the bells and whistles. But Landon clearly has an affinity for ’80s horror and family films; if only he’d channeled this passion into something more memorable.

We Have a Ghost Director – Christopher Landon Cast – David Harbour, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Anthony Mackie, Tig Notaro, Jennifer Coolidge Rating – 2.5/5

The Ghost movie review: Some never-seen-before slick action makes this predictable Nagarjuna-starrer engaging watch

The ghost movie review: nagarjuna's action thriller has a predictable plot but is salvaged by some never-seen-before action sequences and the actor's charisma..

Filmmaker Praveen Sattaru truly established himself as a filmmaker with great action sensibilities when he made PSV Garuda Vega a few years ago. The film gave a new lease of life to yesteryear star Rajasekhar, who turned out to be a revelation in a project that truly felt international in spite of its limited budget. With his latest outing, The Ghost, Sattaru pushes the boundaries to present a slick action-thriller that’s largely engaging, despite a very predictable plot. If not for anything, you could just watch the film to see how handsome Nagarjuna looks while wielding the Yakuza sword. It’s a sight to cherish. Also read: GodFather movie review: Chiranjeevi's charisma makes this thriller enjoyable

The Ghost movie review: Nagarjuna shines in this ultra-violent action thriller.

Nagarjuna plays Vikram, a former Interpol agent with anger issues. When his recklessness ends up costing the life of a young boy on a rescue mission in Dubai, the guilt eats him up and he decides to fix it by taking on the underworld. The story quickly cuts to five years later and we are introduced to Vikram’s sister Anu ( Gul Panag ), who reaches out to him after 20 years. The call takes him to Ooty where the siblings put their bitter past behind them. Anu informs Vikram about the life threats she’s been receiving and she doesn’t want anything to happen to her daughter. As Vikram takes charge of protecting the family, he crosses paths with some men from his past in Dubai. What happened five years ago in Dubai when Vikram swore to clean up the underworld and why he’s called The Ghost forms the crux of the story.

The Ghost delivers what the promos promised, which is slick action with a lot of bloodshed. The attempt to make an ultraviolent action film without dumbing down its impact for the masses deserves special praise. Sattaru takes a very predictable plot and shifts all his focus on delivering solid action stretches. The film takes its own time to take-off, quite literally, but the pay-off is worth the wait. The film does take inspiration from Hollywood blockbusters like Taken and John Wick but never tries to mimic what these films achieved in terms of action.

Nagarjuna is cool as a cucumber in the role of a former agent turned mean killing machine. He uses his charisma effortlessly to make every frame look stylish on screen. Sonal Chauhan gets a meaty part and has quite a few scenes where she gets to flaunt her action skills. The film works to a large extent because it presents action like never seen before in Telugu cinema. The climactic fight in a church with a yakuza sword and a Gatling gun is easily the film’s biggest highlight that’s worth every buck.

Director: Praveen Sattaru

Cast: Nagarjuna, Sonal Chauhan, Anikha Surendran, and Gul Panag.

we have a ghost movie review in telugu

Now streaming on:

Christopher Landon makes wonderfully quirky horror films that defy the typical cynicism of the genre nowadays. He avoids the pretension of “elevated horror” by expressing contagious joy through his filmmaking in movies like “ Happy Death Day ,” " Happy Death Day 2U ," and “ Freaky .” Say what you will about their execution or quality overall; I don’t think anyone can argue against Landon having a damn blast while making them. His latest, “We Have a Ghost,” is at its best when Landon is allowed to be goofy in a way that just makes the viewer smile. Sadly, his writing isn’t as sharp as his directing, as the movie goes on way too long and through multiple endings, even as it seems content to repeat themes and images instead of building on the film’s interesting ideas. In the end, it’s a solid distraction, which is all most people are looking for on Netflix, but I’m hoping he makes “Happy Death Day 3” before revisiting this world.

Based on a short story called Ernest  by Geoff Manaugh , “We Have a Ghost” opens with the Presley family moving to a fixer-upper in Chicago. Father Frank ( Anthony Mackie ) is struggling to make ends meet and to maintain a healthy relationship with his increasingly-distant son Kevin (Jahi Di’Allo Winston, so good in “ Charm City Kings ” and on “Everything Sucks!”). Almost immediately after their arrival, Kevin is exploring the attic when he encounters a trapped soul named Ernest ( David Harbour , giving a silent performance). Ernest can’t talk but has been scaring away inhabitants since the ‘70s when he died. Kevin doesn’t get scared. He films Ernest with his phone, and there’s suddenly a viral ghost.

Imagine if there was an actual ghost all over TikTok and YouTube. What would happen? Landon doesn’t do nearly enough with this rich concept and just has people screaming outside the Presley home, including a guy dressed like Jesus. It’s interesting to watch Frank try to use Ernest’s existence as a cash infusion, becoming a cultural agent of sorts. He even brings in a local medium for an encounter with Ernest, a scene that allows for one of the film’s more impressive effects and potential memes from a Jennifer Coolidge cameo. But there’s not enough done with the idea of what proof of the afterlife would mean. It doesn’t have to be deeply philosophical, but even a little shallow exploration might have filled this concept out a bit.

Instead, “We Have a Ghost” shifts too much focus to a paranormal scientist named Dr. Leslie Monroe ( Tig Notaro ) and her CIA boss Arnold Schipley ( Steve Coulter ). Landon’s film becomes something of a chase/road movie in its midsection as Ernest, Kevin, and their scene-stealing neighbor Joy ( Isabella Russo ) try to escape the armed guards and get to the bottom of why this poor guy hasn’t fully moved to the next plane of existence. Of course, “We Have a Ghost” becomes a bit of a whodunit too as Ernest learns about what really happened to him, including the identity of his killer.

Harbour is effective in a performance that could have been all exaggerated mugging to compensate for zero dialogue, and Winston still feels like a future star; he's so confident and natural at a young age. There’s enough to like here just in the two of them to keep teens and their parents from checking social media too often while it plays, but it lacks that thrust that would make them put the phones down for good. There’s just a lack of urgency, especially in the final act, which repeats ideas and then ends more than once. This movie needs to hum like “Freaky” and “Happy Death Day,” which were notably shorter (and felt tighter).

Even as “We Have a Ghost” sags in places, it never completely fades into the dull background of Netflix originals of late. We may not have an outright winner, but we do have a decent diversion.

On Netflix now.

The Ghost Review: Nothing To Boast

The Ghost Review: Nothing To Boast

Movie: The Ghost Rating: 2/5 Banner: Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP Cast: Nagarjuna, Sonal Chauhan, Gul Panag, Anikha Surendran, Manish Chaudhari, Ravi Varma, Srikanth Iyengar, Bilal Hossein and others  Music: Bharatt-Saurabh, Mark K Robin Director of Photography: Mukesh G Editor: Dharmendra kakarala Action: Dinesh Subbarayan, Kecha Producers: Suniel Narang, Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, Sharrath Marar Written and directed by: Praveen Sattaru Release Date: October 5, 2022

Nagarjuna Akkineni and director Praveen Sattaru have teamed up for the first time. The film’s trailer and teasers created a lot of interest.

Let’s find out its merits and demerits.

Story: After a failed mission, Interpol officers Vikram (Nagarjuna) and Priya (Sonal Chauhan) part ways. They also break up their relationship. Vikram also quits his job.

Five years later, he gets a call from his estranged sister Anu (Gul Panag). He heads to Ooty and finds that his sister and his niece (Anikha Surendran) are under threat.

Vikram agrees to stay there and protect them. Anu is a chairperson of a huge business empire. Another company is trying to take over Anu’s company. Despite his efforts, Anu gets killed in an attack.

Will Vikram protect his niece safely?

Artistes’ Performances: For senior Nagarjuna, the role is a cakewalk. He has done such roles in the past. All he does in the film is wields swords, blast ammunition, and indulge in shootouts.

Sonal Chauhan appears as an Interpol officer. She does some decent action stunts. Gul Panag plays a typical sister’s role.

Anikha Surendran plays the role of rich brat convincingly.

Technical Excellence: Mukesh’s cinematography is terrific. More than anyone else, the stunt masters have more work to do in the film, and they excel in their jobs. The background score is apt. Editing lacks sharpness as the lengthy action episodes go on and on.

Highlights: Initial portions One or two action sequences

Drawback: Clichéd story Dated and artificial sentiment     Series of fights Mindless climax sequence

Analysis We all know that story takes a backseat in action dramas. But when the wafer-thin plot serves as an excuse to flip one action sequence to another, it feels dated. “The Ghost” is one such example.

Praveen Sattaru who won the name for his slick execution of “PSV Garuda Vega '' wrote a one paragraph story. An Interpol officer who quit the job gets a personal assignment of saving his sister from the enemies. Praveen Sattaru has not developed any worth talking about moments other than this one-line story and filled it with a series of action stunts.

One action sequence is set in a desert, the other on the busy city roads and the next one in a hill station. Another one is in a house. The next one is in another place. The locations change, and the scenes change, but the crux remains the same: a fight scene.

No film in recent times has come with a series of action stunts with little to no story. Furthermore, given all the hype around threats that the hero’s sister faces, we expect a strong antagonist who might prove to be more than a match to the hero Nagarjuna, but what we get is a cardboard villain character.

To be fair, the first half of the film at least has some reasoning as it focuses on Nagarjuna’s Interpol days and a brief flashback about his family. The second half is a mess. The climax is excruciatingly bad.

By adding “KGF”-like machine gun sequences and Kamal Haasan’s Vikram-like fight scenes, Praveen Sattaru has spoiled it further. For a film that also talks about sister and niece, the sentiment scenes are superficial.

The blame entirely lies on Praveen Sattaru. It is his lame writing that is the villain.

On the whole, “The Ghost” is another senseless action drama with no effective storytelling.

Bottom Line:  Frightens the audience

Ghost Telugu Movie Review

Release Date : November 04, 2023

Music Director: Arjun Janya

Cinematographer: Mahendra Simha

Editor: Deepu S Kumar

Recently released Kannada superhit, Ghost, featuring Shiva Rajkumar in the lead role, has made its way into the Telugu market. Read our review to know how the movie is.

An anonymous person named Big Daddy (Shiva Rajkumar), and his gang execute a daring takeover of a central jail in Karnataka, taking both inmates and former CBI officer Vamana Srinivasan (Prashanth Narayanan) as hostages. The government assigns ACP Charan Raj to resolve the situation and secure the release of the ex-CBI officer. To unravel the mysteries surrounding Big Daddy’s identity, motives, and the eventual outcome, one must watch this film.

Plus Points:

The plot maintains a high level of intrigue in the first half, with the director adeptly holding the audience’s attention. The narrative moves at a speedy pace, accompanied by well-composed action sequences.

Shiva Rajkumar delivers a commendable performance in a role that relies on minimal dialogue, perfectly complementing his charismatic style.

Jayaram’s portrayal of Charan Raj fits his role satisfactorily, with several scenes enhanced by a powerful musical score.

Minus Points:

While the story and screenplay are relatively strong in the first half, the second half encounters challenges in maintaining the same level of engagement. The director struggles to sustain interest, leading to a sense of over-extension in the latter part of the film.

The movie features several extravagant scenes that may occasionally leave the audience questioning their realism.

Specific sequences, particularly in the second half, could benefit from more impactful dialogues. Some moments may evoke nostalgia for older films, and the flashback episode lacks the impact of a well-constructed backstory for the central character.

Dubbing issues stand out as a significant concern, with the Telugu voiceovers not seamlessly matching the actors. It’s even surprising to note that Jayaram’s on-screen voice and inner monologue have distinct voices.

The character portrayed by Archana Jois contributes little to the film, and the presence of unfamiliar characters may hamper the connection with the Telugu audience.

Technical Aspects:

While the director introduces an engaging plot, the film struggles to maintain that level of engagement. A more robust screenplay could have elevated Ghost to a higher level of success.

Arjun Janya’s music adds to the film’s appeal, enriching the overall experience. Mahendra Simha’s cinematography meets the required standards, but the film’s editor, Deepu, could have made more judicious cuts in the second half to create a smoother viewing experience. The dubbing is bad.

On the whole, Ghost is a mediocre heist action drama. While it has its moments with an interesting first half, decent action scenes, and Shiva Rajkumar’s solid screen presence, the film struggles in the second half, along with an excess of over-the-top moments, ultimately positioning it as a mediocre offering. It caters to action enthusiasts but falls short of delivering an exceptional cinematic experience for a wider audience.

The Ghost Review – Nothing to Boast

The Ghost Telugu Movie Review

OUR RATING 2/5

CENSOR 2h 20m, ‘U/A’ Certified.

Nagarjuna-The-Ghost-Telugu-Movie-Review

What happens when a few killers try to kidnap the girl and her mother? Who is The Ghost , and what’s his purpose forms the movie’s basic plot.

Performances King Akkineni Nagarjuna has once again picked up an exciting, action-packed role in the line of Gaganam and Wild Dog. He navigates through the proceeds with ease and exhibits a body language that is unique to him.

When we look at Nagarjuna in the movie, it is clear that he is enjoying doing it. The work also is lighter in drama even though it has a serious issue related to the lead. Nagarjuna breezes through the proceedings, but there is nothing memorable here.

Sonal Chauhan plays the female lead in the movie in the typical sense. She has a good opening block along with the star but is later missing in action. Sonal surfaces in the second half again, but it’s too late by then to have any impact.

Director Praveen Sattaru

Looking at the opening block of The Ghost, one definitely feels that there is a genuine action thriller on cards by Praveen Sattaru. Unfortunately, the dream is short-lived, and none other than Praveen Sattaru is to be blamed.

Praveen Sattaru has been dabbling in various genres since the beginning of his career. He cracks the formula and then fills the script with details related to the formula. All his films show similar patterns, which has worked for a few of them. But, when it comes to The Ghost, he has failed spectacularly.

The biggest issue with The Ghost is missing nativity. Apart from Nagarjuna, there is nothing to hold the attention to. The setting, the relationship beats, the personal problem pertaining to the hero, and everything looks very derivative.

What works amidst them is the action scenes. Two action blocks stand out, one at the beginning and another during the flashback. But, apart from them, nothing engages.

The artists, setup, and execution lack the realism required to have the impact. The action scenes without any foundation don’t work. Even a slick action thriller isn’t exempted. We have a couple of examples recently where the emotions were blended wonderfully. The same doesn’t happen between the kid and Nagarjuna in The Ghost.

Not only does the story feel alien, lacking nativity to the audience, but we also have elevations that feel too over the top and dilute the impact of the thin wafer story, which is already an issue.

The climax after all that happens, the twists along the way, nothing adds up to make an impact. There are good shots, some excellent BGM work, and nice action, but nothing comes together as a whole to leave one impressed.

Overall, The Ghost is a wasted opportunity considering the resources at disposal. A couple of action scenes and Nagarjuna are all that movie has to grab attention, and they are not enough.

Sonal-Chauhan-The-Ghost-Telugu-Movie-Review

Anikha Surendran is alright playing a spoilt rich brat who later develops affection. Srikanth Iyenger and Ravi Varma are repetitive and getting typecast in their parts. The rest of the actors have nothing to talk about.

The Ghost Telugu Movie Review by M9News Live Updates

The Ghost fails to deliver the thrills and action engagingly due to a poor storyline and missing exciting content. Barring a couple of action blocks and the lead Nagarjuna, nothing to cheer about in the movie. A wasted opportunity, all around.

— Ghost second half started. Sonal Chauhan is back in story.

First Half Report:

Ghost starts excitingly with an action episode and then loses momentum quickly. It picks up again towards the interval when Ghost is revealed. The second half is crucial now to see where the movie ends.

— The Ghost started with an action episode followed by a song.

The Ghost Telugu USA Premiere will begin shortly. Stay tuned for the U.S. Premiere report.

The Ghost Review

What's Behind

King Nagarjuna is gearing up to show the power of his stunts as an Interpol agent in The Ghost. Nagarjuna is following the sentiment and releasing the film on October 5, the same day when he scored a hit with Ram Gopal Varma's Shiva which turned out to be a cult classic. The film directed by Praveen Sattaru stars Sonal Chauhan as the female lead. Let us find out whether Nagarjuna gave goosebumps to all as The Ghost.

Story Review

The Ghost story revolves Nagarjuna add the Ghost and how he takes on the underworld Mafia. Vikram ( Nagarjuna), am Interpol agent gets surprised when his sister Anu ( Gul Panag) calls him after many years. He decides to meet his sister, much against the wishes of this colleague, lover Priya( Sonal Chauhan). This results in interesting twists and turns and lands the lives of everyone in danger.

To unravel the mysteries of The Ghost and how it is connected to his niece Aditi (Anika Surendran), Pankaj  Nair ( Ravi Varma) enjoy The Ghost on the big screen.

Artists, Technicians Review

Story of the Ghost readied by Praveen Sattatu is to show Nagarjuna in an action avatar. He starts the proceedings with action sequences setting the tone for the narration. Just like in PSV Garuda Vega he generates interest by unraveling each and every twist accordingly. He blended the action sequences with the right kind of emotions. The interval bang is well designed and it paves way for the second half. In the second half Nagarjuna goes all out to seek revenge and the climax blasts the minds of all. Praveen Sattatu's story is interesting and exciting and it is treat to Akkineni fans and action movie lovers.

Nagarjuna who late has been doing feel-good romantic and family entertainers, deviated and came up with an  out and out action entertainer. He excelled in intense action and stunt scenes composed by the stunt choreographers. He showed good emotions while trying to save his sister and nice. Nagarjuna as usual looked slim and fit to play the role of an Interpol agent.

Sonal Chauhan played the second fiddle to Nagarjuna and even she performed breathtaking stunts. Gul Panag got the important role of Nagarjuna's sister and she did well in her emotions. Aneka Surendran played the role of Nagarjuna's niece and she looked bubbly. Others like Ravi Varma, Srikanth Iyengar performed according to their  roles.

Songs of Bharatt-Saurabh didn't make an impact. Mark Robin however with his background music maintained the intensity. Dialogues are ok and Dharmendra Kakarala's editing could have been far better. Production values are good.

Rating Analysis

Altogether,  Praveen Sattaru thrilled Akkineni fans by showing Nagarjuna in a completely different way. None would have expected such transformation from Nagarjuna. The film has everything action movie lovers expect along with the emotions. However few may put off as the film lacks connectivity. Had Praveen Sattaru fine-tuned the story and script and added few twists and turns, along with few impactful emotions, The Ghost would have made a powerful impact. Considering all these elements, cinejosh goes with a 2.75 rating for The Ghost.

Partially engaging action saga..

A simple plot that could have been more relatable if it was approached in a grounded manner. Decent first half is brought down in the process of trying to make it look so cool. (more)

Nagarjuna and Sonal Chauhan shine in this half-baked film

There are moments in The Ghost that will test your patience. You might also walk away feeling that it was a wasted opportunity to have a story that can be fleshed out better. However, if youre a Nagarjuna fan, you might like it for him and him alone. (more)

Nothing To Boast

No film in recent times has come with a series of action stunts with little to no story. Furthermore, given all the hype around threats that the heros sister faces, we expect a strong antagonist who might prove to be more than a match to the hero Nagarjuna, but what we get is a cardboard villain ch... Nagarjuna's actioner looks sleek but tests patience

From there, the tone of director Praveen Sattarus movie shifts. Vikram is pissed after he botched up a rescue operation owing to a bad decision he makes. A young boy dies as a result and Vikram goes on a killing spree. You are not alone if the storyline kind of reminds you of John Wick. We just get... (more)

Some never-seen-before slick action makes this predictable Nagarjuna-starrer engaging watch

The Ghost delivers what the promos promised, which is slick action with a lot of bloodshed. The attempt to make an ultraviolent action film without dumbing down its impact for the masses deserves special praise. Sattaru takes a very predictable plot and shifts all his focus on delivering solid actio... (more)

Only for action lovers

The Ghost is a partly engaging action thriller. Nagarjunas scintillating performance backed up by some world-class fight scenes are its strength. On the flip side, the lack of proper emotional scenes, weak antagonist, and predictable storyline make it a passable watch this weekend. If you love watc... (more)

Action and emotion. The Ghost story has both action and emotional elements. With corporate deals and boardroom politics adding to the action, and family elements bringing in the emotion, the movie has enough substance to keep the audience engaged. But Praveen Sattaru has banked heavily on action, neglecting the other interesting aspects.

  5. The Ghost Telugu Movie Review

Verdict: On the whole, The Ghost is a partly engaging action thriller. Nagarjuna's scintillating performance backed up by some world-class fight scenes are its strength. On the flip side, the lack of proper emotional scenes, weak antagonist, and predictable storyline make it a passable watch this weekend.

  6. The Ghost Movie Review: High on body count, low on originality

The Ghost is, in a way, a quintessential revenge drama that's packaged with the flourishes of a modern-day actioner. To rehash a classic review line—just like the film is a rehash of many films—The Ghost is an old bullet in a new gun. It could have been what Vikram was to Kamal Haasan, but ends up being what Beast was to Vijay.

  12. The Ghost Movie Review: Nothing To Boast

Analysis We all know that story takes a backseat in action dramas. But when the wafer-thin plot serves as an excuse to flip one action sequence to another, it feels dated. "The Ghost" is one such example. Praveen Sattaru who won the name for his slick execution of "PSV Garuda Vega '' wrote a one paragraph story.

No. The Ghost Telugu Movie Review by M9News. Live Updates. Final Report: The Ghost fails to deliver the thrills and action engagingly due to a poor storyline and missing exciting content. Barring a couple of action blocks and the lead Nagarjuna, nothing to cheer about in the movie. A wasted opportunity, all around.

  19. The Ghost Telugu Movie Review with Rating
