Distance education has become a vital aspect of today’s world of education. It has become the most sought after avenue of raising your salary or increasing your qualification. Various distance courses are available across India in multiple levels such as:
When it comes to completing a course with other obligations in life, distance learning is the best option. PhD by distance education in India can be obtained by applying to colleges that offer distance education Doctor of Philosophy degree.
PhD through distance education is gaining importance among the research scholars who could not pursue higher studies due to work pressure or some other reasons. Many people have the wrong idea that distance education does not involve teachers, and students need not go to schools or colleges. The idea is wrong.
In distance education, a student need not be physically present in the classroom. However, he or she may have to attend daily classes on her laptop or mobile phone at a particular time. These classes are conducted online by experienced teachers or by electronic presentations that are made for a clear understanding of the subjects. So, it is wrong to say that distance education does not involve teachers.
Moreover, sometimes a student may need to attend classes on special days for particular reasons. Some of them may be:
The system of distance education that requires students to visit the school on particular days is called the Hybrid system of distance learning. It is a fact that most of the reputed universities in India offer only full-term and part-time PhD programs, but some universities like Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open Universities (YCMOU) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) still offer the PhD through distance education in India .
In the year 1840, England introduced uniform postage rates across the country. Sir Isaac Pitman, the pioneer of short-hand writing and stenography, took up this opportunity and started sending his courses to his students through mails. His mails contained exercises that were to be mailed back to him so that he could correct them. Thus the foundation of distance learning was laid, and the world was waiting to see a revolution in the field of education.
Later, important universities like the University of London started preaching through a distance correspondence course. The system chartered by the Queen herself had meritorious members coming from less affluent backgrounds to undergo further education and establish themselves in society.
Distance education has been changing lives for quite some years. Nowadays, even after a hard day of a full-time job, one can enjoy the comfort of his or her home and complete his Ph.D. course. PhD by distance education has broken the normal stereotype and has allowed different candidates coming from different backgrounds to opt for a Doctor of Philosophy, which seemed very far-fetched and difficult earlier.
Moreover, it has been noted that when a man enters his corporate life, he tends to move away from his studies due to workload. For a woman, it is widely seen as soon as she gets married and becomes a housewife; the burden of family life makes it difficult for her to continue her studies.
A working individual under no circumstances can attend daily classes in a university or a college. Moreover, most classes are during the morning, which also happens to be the peak working hour in most offices. However, a PhD candidate who is applying for a job will be paid more. Now, if a candidate has to earn more, he or she has to complete and upgrade his or her educational qualification. Thus, it is an absolute necessity for such candidates to complete their PhD through distance education .
These are some of the situations where distance education and acquiring degrees through distance education plays an important role. For a homemaker, receiving the correspondence study materials and studying them in her own free time can help her a lot in increasing her educational qualification and her value in society.
Additionally, if someone is physically challenged or terminally ill and is not being able to attend his or her classes daily can opt for completing his or her PhD degree through distance education. If there is will then there surely is a way and distance education is that way.
Is PhD Through Distance Education Affordable?
This is an absolute yes. PhD degrees obtained through distance education are very affordable. Moreover, the option of carrying on with your job while completing the course at the same time is a blessing. PhD gives you the comfort of your home and saves you the amount you used to spend on commute. As a result, a very important step in life can be taken at a very low cost.
Can anyone who desires to obtain a PhD, Get it?
The answer is yes. Given that you have the required marks in your graduation and masters, you can obtain PhD degree. Different universities and institutions offer PhD courses through correspondence. They have varying eligibility criteria and varied requirements which need to be fulfilled.
Is PhD Distance Education Valid in India ?
if you are pursuing the Ph.D. program for career prospects, then you need to check the validity of the courses before enrollment thoroughly. Please read UGC Circular for PhD by correspondence.
Is Distance Education Valid for PhD ?

PhD is listed among the highest qualifications in any domain. Its addition to your CV reflects your expertise in the field and helps you secure respectable positions in any related firm. However, despite being one of the most desirable higher educational programs, only a few applicants enroll in it. The major reason behind it is the full-time commitment and the hectic research work which is difficult to follow for working professionals.
Coming to the concept of online PhD, no such programs are being offered in India. Considering the need for hands-on technical training for PhD candidates, UGC has not recognized this course in the online learning format. Thus, if you have been offered admission to an online PhD course by any Indian University, stop right there and save yourself from this scam.
So, if online PhD programs are not UGC-approved, how are Indian working professionals earning their “Dr.” title while continuing their jobs? From admission to dissertation. Tips on making the PhD journey happy, productive and successful
In India the eligibility to do PhD in India is a degree or post graduation. With a 3 year degree, you will have a chance to do integrated PhD or if you have masters, you will have to do regualar PhD.
Once you perform the above conditions, you may become eligible to do PhD in India and infact your real PhD research will start effectively. Any thing from the above points are very important for better research. Here is why my detailed explanation.
In many universities, there is a condition to have minimum post graduation level to enter in to PhD course. This is mandatory. Unless you have PG in any subject, only then you are eligible to do PhD. You are not allowed to take a different subject other than the subjects you have studied in Post Graduation. You must study in PG that subject that which you are planning to take in PhD. So take care about your interest. If you have different subject but your interest is with other subject, then there is no way that you can perform well in PhD. You must also become expert in that subject are while you are studying MASTERS. The more knowledge you acquire in your Post graduation, the better the knowledge and scope in your PhD course.
There is a requirement to have a minimum of 55% marks in your post graduation. There is no other way here. Some private universities even ask for first class percentage. So 60% is also a mandatory thing with some of the reputed deemed to be private universities. If you get less marks, like 54%, you are out of getting admission in your PhD course. Unless you have some recommendation or prove yourself to your supervisor that you can do qualitative research, then you can come up with success in getting admission. So try to impress your supervisor before hand and convince that your percentage will not affect your research. So it all depends on this. But there are 5% chances to get admission in to PhD if your percentage in your Post Graduation is lesser than 55% or even 60-% with some of the good universities out there.
There is no such condition that you must do PhD only at some point of time. You can do it even when you are 60s. There is no age limit to do PhD in INDIA. Once you fulfill the said conditions in this article, you are all the time eligible to do PhD. But there must be some health conditions to do PhD. If you have problems with your health, then it is difficult to do research. So think about this once. But these are all personal decisions that you have to make. There is no official age limit or medical report that you have to produce to do PhD. Be active and pro active. This is all any individual requires.
There are some universities in India offering PhD in a direct mode once you finish you B Tech and BA. This is like the combination of both masters and PhD for six long years with a unique curriculum. So if you want to progress with an early career, you can choose this option that will take you to the other side of life. You can earn good handsome salaries once you have finished this. You can also earn respect at an younger age. You can also continue with Post Doc opportunities and beat the competition in your field. But this type of direct PhD’s are not offered in all subjects. So check clearly which subjects are being offered for direct PhD. Check IIT Ropar where you have this direct PhD.
United Grants Commission has made it mandatory for every university to conduct entrance test to take someone in to PhD. So this is quite important. You are not eligible to do PhD with out clearing the entrance exam. Get to know the syllabus of the entrance exam and try to appear it by studying nicely. If you do not study the exact syllabus, then there are less chance to get admission.
You need to clear PhD interview. This is the main part of the admission process. The way you convince your interview panel is very crucial in deciding who you are exactly. Research proposal plays a great role here If you are able to defend positively in the panes, you will have or get the selection easily.
You must have a strong research proposal to become eligible to join PhD. If you do not have this research proposal, you cannot really get through the admission. Strong and unique research proposal will make you stand out from others. So do have some convincing and defending and new topics in your proposal. Mention exactly about the topic and methods of research.
In order to really become eligible to join PhD with out any conditions, you need to clear and pass course work. Other wise your conditional admission in to PhD will be terminated all of a sudden. There are 4 subject that you must clear.
These subjects will teach you how to do research. They will give you the skills to continue your PhD course with out problems. So it has become mandatory to complete pre phd course in India.
There is no way that you can do PhD with out having one supervisor or guide. The supervisor will guide you effectively and recommend your admission to your PhD. Before trying to get admission, you must drop an email to a supervisor who is specialized in your subject. This email is very important. Then if the supervisor accepts you, thing will move smoothly till you get fully admitted unconditionally.
In India, writing skills are very poor. Students struggle a lot to write in English . That is why many fake PhD holders are in India. These funny professors get help from abroad in writing by paying money. They are not eligible at all to do PhD or to become professors after buying the PhD. So my request to the world is not to recruit Indian PhD holders as they are shit.
Conclusion: If you want to become eligible to do PhD in India, first you must attain some peculiar qualities to be sincere and active in knowing the present day to day conditions of universities and education. The society is somehow not in a position to accept certain things if you are lacking in some qualities. There is only one way to become eligible in my opinion. You must be at least having that passion and spark to do PhD. This passion about doing PhD makes you automatically eligible to do PhD in India. The skills comes automatically with the spark you have in your heart.
The other thing that I want to mention is that PhD can be awarded in any way. Even to the extent of not studying PhD. Simply for example let us take honorary PhD. This is awarded even with out studying and just for the sake of dedication of a person towards something that is special in the eyes of the society. So if you want to be eligible to study PhD, my best suggestion is have some dedication and work for researching some important key terms that this society is really in need of.
My other point is that when you want to do PhD in India, it is also important not to have too many aspirations. PhD is all about success and failure. There is no certain period when you will complete your PhD. It may take around 6 t 9 years of time to complete PhD or sometime even there are possibilities of quitting PhD.
I know many have quit PhD after some 2 or 4 years because they are unable to bear the struggle. They are unable to adjust with the supervisor. They are not in good terms with the supervisor. It is very important that you must keep up a good relationship with your supervisor. He is the one who can save you in your entire life. He can bring success or failure. So always keep up in good and sound wordings with your PhD supervisor. This way you will make eligible to get some new inspiration and cooperation for him.
Have good passion for research.
Do not post pone your research.
Be aware of fake universities offering PhD.
Be aware not to buy any PhD related services.

The world's top two ranked T20i sides meet in Saint Lucia
Australia vs India at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium at Gros Islet in St Lucia is a meeting between the top two ranked sides in T20 cricket.
Having been put in to bat, India have made 205-5 with Rohit Sharma scoring 92 off 41 balls, with eight sixes.
If India win, they qualify of the semi finals. If Australia lose and Afghanistan beat Bangladesh later today, then Australia do not.
If Australia and Afghanistan both win, that would leave India, Australia and Afghanistan on the same number of points, and the two sides with the best net run rate will qualify. Currently India's net run rate is vastly superior to that of the other two teams.

India have won 19 and lost 11 of their T20 meetings with Australia, and three of their five T20 World Cup encounters. The last time they played one another in a T20 World Cup match was in 2016, three World Cups ago, when India won by six wickets with five balls to spare.

A PhD in Psychology is the ultimate degree—a symbol of your commitment to the discipline and a representation of your knowledge and skills. Held by top-tier researchers, instructors in higher education, and clinical practitioners alike, a clinical psychology PhD may help you and the people and organizations you might one day serve. 1
While the benefits of a PhD in Psychology may be clear to you, how to go about earning this doctorate degree might feel confusing—until now.
Here’s how to get a PhD in Psychology, what to expect in a doctoral degree program, and what you might gain from obtaining one.
Start Your Journey
A PhD, or Doctor of Philosophy, in Psychology is one of two of the highest degrees in the field of psychology. (The other is a PsyD , or Doctor of Psychology, a doctorate degree created in the 1970s to prepare students specifically for the rigors of working in clinical settings.) 2 A clinical psychology PhD may enable you to work in a variety of environments and a range of roles.
As such, earning this degree is an involved, immersive, and often exciting process that’s composed of: 3
Coursework in a PhD program now frequently integrates discussions on psychology and technology , examining how digital advancements are transforming therapeutic methods and research techniques.
Finding the right PhD in Psychology program is paramount to your success. Researching potential programs is also one of the more thrilling aspects of pursuing a doctorate, but it needs to be approached strategically and mindfully. To that end, search for programs that, like the doctoral programs in psychology at Alliant International University, have received accreditation by the American Psychological Association (APA). 7
Accreditation essentially serves as a seal of approval and demonstrates to future employers, the general public, and licensing boards that you have the scientific knowledge required to work in the world of psychology.
Additionally, you may want to zero in on programs that:
Further, if you do opt for a program that demands in-person attendance and training, be sure that it’s geographically feasible for you. The cost of living in the area should also be factored into your decision. Lastly, if you’re an undergrad or just finishing up your master’s, consider asking the professors you trust and admire for program recommendations. 9
Application and admission requirements vary by institution. That said, most programs ask for: 10
Depending on the program you’ve selected, you may also need to submit GRE scores. Importantly, nearly all programs require a personal statement—a topic we’ll look at in more depth below. While a PhD equips you for high-level research and academic positions, you might wonder if you can be a clinical psychologist with a master's . Although possible, a PhD significantly broadens your professional scope.
Not only will obtaining relevant experience help strengthen your application package but it will also help you gain invaluable insights into the industry. It might also assist you in choosing a specialization, such as working one-on-one with trauma survivors or dedicating your professional life to neuropsychology research.
Fortunately, there are dozens of ways to get the type of experience that will help your application stand out from the competition: 11
Keep in mind that some PhD in Psychology programs require a minimum amount of relevant experience before you can apply. In fact, the Association for Psychological Science (APS) asserts that doctoral applicants usually accrue two to three years of research experience before applying to graduate school. 12 All of this emphasizes the importance of conducting thorough research on your schools of interest.
Letters of recommendation are a crucial component of your doctoral application. In fact, some state that your letters of recommendation are more important to the decision process than grades. 13
Usually, they’re written by former professors and/or former employers or psychology professionals you’ve interned for or shadowed.
Be sure to request letters of recommendation from those with whom you have a visible track record. In addition, request letters well ahead of your application deadline, even as much as a year in advance of when you think you’ll start applying for your doctoral program.
Talk to Our Advisors
Almost every doctorate in psychology program requires a personal statement. As one of the most critical elements of your application (some indicate that it’s more important than your GRE scores and GPA), it should describe, in detail, your: 14
Experts consulted by the APA also advise against using three things in your personal statement: humor, hyperbole, and “hard luck,” such as describing the obstacles you’ve overcome.
Happen to receive an interview offer? Congratulations—your application clearly stood out!
The interview process may start with what’s known as a pre-interview, or a brief conversation to evaluate your fit with the program and department. 15 This may be followed by an on-campus interview that asks basic questions, such as the impact you hope your PhD project has and why you believe you’re the right candidate, as well as more precise questions prompted by your specific experience. 16
One of the best ways to make a solid, lasting impression is to create a bulleted list of your research interests. Practicing answers to the questions you anticipate ahead of time can also help ensure a smoother dialogue. And remember: you’ll be interviewing for the program, too.
The financial assistance you may receive will likely be an enormous determining factor in the program you choose. As discussed, funding may arrive in the form of:
Alliant International University, for example, has several forms of funding options available to doctoral candidates—those listed above, as well as fellowship assistantships .
Once you’re accepted into a program, you should select your area of specialization, plot out your coursework, and choose your dissertation topic.
The APA notes that doctoral candidates should ideally land on a dissertation topic within the first year or two of their program. 17 Why? Because it will give your program enhanced focus and a guiding theme.
To jumpstart your thinking:
Above all, be sure to choose a topic that will sustain your interest and excitement throughout the duration of your program. Earning a PhD in Psychology is a time-intensive commitment. Four to six years is about how long it takes to get a psychology PhD, but it varies by person based on how they balance their personal schedules with coursework, research, and clinical training.
One of the biggest benefits of obtaining a PhD in Psychology? The connections you may be able to make, such as through your internship and clinical practicum, as well as psychology conferences and seminars.
Yet, some of the strongest relationships you build might be right inside your program. And this brings us to our final piece of advice: consider choosing a program that features a warm and supportive faculty and a diverse collection of students who will motivate you throughout your academic journey—and beyond.
At Alliant International University, our PhD in Clinical Psychology program features a faculty that will challenge you in the best possible way alongside a nurturing, engaging learning environment.
Enrich your knowledge and prepare to make a lasting difference in the field of psychology. Apply today and start your journey.

The Super Eight clash sees the Men In Blue looking to maintain their 100% record in this year's tournament.
Afghanistan will be looking to pull off a major shock on Thursday as they take on unbeaten India in Barbados for this T20 World Cup Super Eight clash.
The Afghans have impressed and boast the tournament's leading run-scorer in Rahmanullah Gurbaz as well as its most effective bowler in Fazalhaq Farooqi, however their momentum was upended by a heavy 104 run defeat at the hands of West Indies at the start of the week.
India remain favorites to win the tournament, and have got to this point with a 100 per cent record intact, however there's a distinct feeling the Men In Blue haven't yet hit their stride, with key batsman Virat Kohli having had a particularly lean campaign so far.
Afghanistan take on India at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Thursday, June 20. Play is set to start at 10:30 a.m. ET, 7:30 a.m. PT. That makes it a 3:30 p.m. BST start in the UK and a 8 p.m. IST start in India. The game meanwhile gets underway at 2:30 a.m. on Friday morning for viewers in Australia.
Below, we'll outline the best live TV streaming services to watch the final match of the series, no matter where you are in the world.
Afghanistan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has notched up 167 runs in four innings so far in this tournament.
This T20 World Cup clash will be available to watch live on cricket streaming service Willow TV .
Willow TV, a dedicated cricket streaming service, is available with a broad range of cable providers, including Spectrum, Dish and Xfinity. The service is also available via OTT provider Sling TV across a range of devices. There are options to pay just for Willow (pricing starts at $10 a month) or add it to your existing Sling plan. Willow TV is also an add-on for OTT provider Fubo , with plans starting at $87 per month (which covers the base Fubo subscription plus another $7 for the add-on package that includes Willow TV).
If you find yourself unable to view this T20 match locally, you may need a different way to watch this match -- that's where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic. It's also a great idea if you're traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.
With a VPN, you're able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. Most VPNs, like our Editors' Choice, ExpressVPN , make it really easy to do this.
Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK and Australia, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you're streaming. Be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.
Looking for other options? Be sure to check out some of the other great VPN deals taking place right now.
ExpressVPN is our current best VPN pick for people who want a reliable and safe VPN, and it works on a variety of devices. It's normally $13 a month, but if you sign up for an annual subscription for $100 you'll get three months free and save 49%.
