The Useless Web

You can even submit one of your own using the link at the bottom if you want.

The Oatmeal

Some content is repetitive.

Keep in mind there's a lot of adult content.

"Subreddits" for nearly every topic.

Topical and trending content.

Some content not suitable for work.

Learning curve involved.

Reddit is referred to as "the front page of the internet." It's a community board split up into sections of categories or interests. Users submit links to articles, photos or videos they think are worth sharing, and anyone can upvote them or downvote them .

The most upvoted links get pushed to the top. If StumbleUpon wasn't your thing, Reddit may be a good alternative.

Easy to browse.

Comments can be rude.

Can be buggy.

9GAG is sort of like a visual version of Reddit. It's a community-driven hub for visual content where members of the community upvote and downvote posts so that the best content gets pushed to the top.

Hyperbole and a Half

Engaging appearance.

New content no longer added.

Some content is lengthy.

Hyperbole and a Half is a Blogger blog that was created by Allie Brosh, a young woman with a talent for telling her left story through detailed Microsoft Paint drawings. She says her blog is not really a webcomic, but it’s not really a blog either.

Whatever it is, it’s a wonderfully colorful and comedic site to browse through. If you love whimsical drawings of dogs, rainbows and other things, then you're bound to really fall in love with this one.

Funny and informative

New, timely content added often.

Great deal of political content.

Some content isn't safe for work or children.

According to the site's slogan, Cracked is “America’s Only Humor Site Since 1958.” Cracked is famous for its timeless list posts. Columnists and contributing writers craft witty, funny articles on topics ranging from history to TV & movies to internet tech.

It has a hilariously creative video section as well. Although it's a bit less reliant on visual content compared to some of the other sites on this list, the articles on Cracked are well worth reading and sharing again and again.

Mostly harmless fun.

Great deal of unique content.

Can be difficult to navigate.

The FAIL blog has been around for much longer than a lot of these other sites have, and thanks to its great content, it's still going strong. Part of the I Can Has Cheezburger network, Fail Blog is a site that is most known for its humorous pictures depicting disastrous and often stupid situations.

All photos have the caption “FAIL” included somewhere on the photo. Fail Blog incorporates video into their site in addition to photos.

Autocorrect Fail

Funny fails.

No longer adding new content.

Some content not family-friendly.

If you own a smartphone, you’ve probably had to deal with an extra text or two explaining an accidental word change as a result of your phone’s auto correction.

Autocorrect Fail features tons of funny texts between people who experience all the communication problems that come with auto correct on a mobile device. You might be surprised to discover what kinds of words accidentally pop up after you turn on autocorrect on your mobile device .

Awkward Family Photos

Cringe-worthy humor.

Suitable for work or family.

No way to tell when content was posted.

Clunky navigation.

Almost everyone has an old photo from back in the day that is just too embarrassing to look at now. It seems as though families all over the world are all flocking to Awkward Family Photos to submit their hilarious and retro photos there.

From terrible hairdos and outfits to costume-themed family portraits, it’s no surprise that this site is such a huge hit on the internet. Submit your own awkward family photo and see if it pops on the site eventually!

16 Best websites for cool inspiration in 2024

In the rapidly evolving world of web design, staying ahead of the game requires fresh ideas to spur up a great website design.

Thankfully for creatives, the internet is teeming with a plethora of beautiful websites certain to drum up some design inspiration to help fuel that creative fire.

That said, whether designing a new website or looking to stay up-to-date on the latest design trends , these 16 websites are some of the best websites for design inspiration.

1. SVZ Design

A screenshot of SVZ Design's homepage

SVZ Design seamlessly aligns its agency’s process and brand through simplistically animated motifs, transitions, and visuals. This pleases the user’s eye and exhibits the brand’s design expertise.

SVZ Design’s end-to-end project page visually asserts their UX and product design skills. In addition, it beautifully demonstrates and validates their claim of carefully crafting meaningful experiences.

SVZ is a great website for web design agencies or freelancers in need of inspiration for their own websites.

2. Wayside studio

Wayside studio homepage. Completely green background, black text menu on top. Center: 3D image of metal toy.

A 2022 Webflow Awards finalist in the Cloneable — Visual Aesthetics category, Wayside Studio by Curry Hackett is a monochromatic dream.

A green background dominates this website design, but it’s far from visually dull. Mixed font pairings, fun scroll-based navigation, and high-quality photography make this site a delight to explore. Surprise hover interactions and engaging copy really shine in this design — making it a great website to serve as inspiration.

That said, if you love it, clone it and add your own flair.

3. VOUS Church

A screenshot of VOUS Church's homepage with the headline "No Turning Back"

VOUS Church is a great website, particularly for non-profit organizations. Not only does their site clearly communicate the church’s mission and goals, but the design packs a punch. It almost feels like a social media platform for its audience.

With subtle choices in layout, content, copy, and a hearty media and blog page, VOUS Church’s website aligns brilliantly with its messaging and core identity, a modern community centered around Jesus and the people.

Readt homepage. Gray background with grain. Black headline "the calendar you need to meet" Top right, CTA "get ready"

Ready embraces the “less is more” philosophy by consolidating all of the essential elements of its product on a single landing page with a clear call to action — “get ready.” This simplified design is the best website for function meets form. In addition, by focusing on aiding conversion, Ready makes it easy for potential customers to find the information they need.

Through their innovative use of a homepage with minimal copy, memorable imagery, a pleasant color scheme, and playful highlighting of essential information, Ready achieves what many competitors drop the ball on — marketable usability.

5. April Ford

April Ford homepage. Image of women in office with floor-to-ceiling glass doors takes up entire page under a text menu.

Specializing in digital advertising, SEO, social media, branding, and web design, April Ford is a duo led by April and Brendan Ford. A 2022 Webflow Awards technical achievement finalist, April Ford is a great website for those looking for a professional and engaging web design.

April Ford uses a minimalist black-and-white color scheme accented by large, high-quality images of their previous work. While the photos take up a lot of site real estate, they also create a visual effect that makes you feel like you are exploring the April Ford offices.

6. Chiara Luzzana

screenshot of Chiara Luzzana's homepage. 3D layered ball covered by large text "the purity of noise"

Art director and developer Niccolò Miranda brought artistry and creativity to Chiara Luzzana ’s eloquent web design. Chiara Luzzana’s website is a high-quality, interactive user experience that lyrically intertwines the sonar and visual mediums — a sublime rejection of normative web design principles.

Typography and font are used as the core design elements to make up the layout and space, and vertical scrolling in place of horizontal. Charming auditory additions subtly further the brand’s messaging and fluid animations enhance the soundscape.

This is one of the coolest designs we’ve seen — a great website for those wanting an artistic approach to web design — and it’s something no template could achieve.

7. Pierre-Louis Labonne

Pierre-Louis Labonne loading screen. Oldschool blue remote with yellow button with speech bubble "Click"

Creative freelancer Pierre-Louis Labonne immediately pulls you into his website with a big button encouraging you to click.

Pierre-Louis’s site demonstrates several different web design trends — a loading screen, nostalgia-inspired design, a customizable viewing experience, and plenty of “just for fun” interactions.

Once you enter the site, you can customize the cartoon character’s face and click through different locked areas of the screen to see Pierre-Louis’s work. As you explore, you’ll discover playful interactions, and clever animations, including links to Pierre-Louis’s Twitter, Linkedin, and Webflow profiles. This Webflow Awards Technical Achievement finalist is one of the best websites, showcasing clever interactions and graphic design.

8. Superlist

Superlist website. Split screen, black & red background.

When you land on the Superlist website, you’re greeted with a slider that lets you switch between color schemes and use cases. On the black screen, you’ll see the CTA “get things done with your team” followed by a carousel of to-do lists for projects like press releases and recruiting. The red screen swaps the word “team” for “squad” and displays to-do lists for activities like soccer club and a home renovation project.

The simple but clever slider makes this one of the best websites for versatility due to its range of usability — a small business launching an e-commerce site, a podcast company organizing episode topics and guests, or a family managing their kids’ calendars.

9. Michael Kors Collection

A screenshot of Michael Kors Collection website, featuring a video of his latest runway show.

The design team behind the Michael Kors Collection website captures the timeless glamour of New York fashion in a spellbinding way.

The website invites visitors into the mind of famed designer Michael Kors, drawing inspiration from muses of the 1970s. The layout and monochromatic UI truly exemplify and embody his sleek Fall and Winter 2023 Collection.

Let this serve as inspiration for your next blogger or high fashion client’s new website design .

Slite homepage. Peach background, black headline "Your team's go-to for instant answers."

The copy and typography are ‘the stars’ of Slite ’s web design. Slite’s header – “Your team’s go-to for instant answers” – and their site’s crisp design and concise copy back up that claim. The intentional web design demonstrates the clarity customers can gain using Slite.

Slite’s attention to detail makes their design one of the best websites for enterprise clients.

11. The Goonies

screenshot of The Goonies website, photo of an ocean taken through a shadow of trees.

What do you get when you have a stellar design team, a high-quality web builder platform, a Hollywood budget, and the nostalgia of the 1980s? Why, this gem of a digital time capsule created by the team behind The Goonies , of course.

This is more than a website — it is an experience. One built using Webflow without CSS or JavaScript.

Simply by the flick of a finger, you are transported into the immersive world and production behind this beloved classic movie. The power of the scroll is evident here — when done appropriately, it functions as the driving force behind a successful web design.

Using the scroll to move the story along with the user’s gestures is genius and expertly executed. It invokes the spirit of the 1980s. Sweet innocence and hot afternoons spent in a movie theater during the summer of 1985. What a time to be alive!

Do yourself a favor and check out this Awwwards site of the day winner, especially if you’re reading on a mobile device. And if you’re a child of the 80s, you’re welcome.

Donuts website. Orange background with "DONUTS" written in purple, red, and blue. Red "DONUTS" uses classic pink icing with sprinkles donut as "O"

Oh, and yes, this is cloneable in Webflow!

14. Monograph Communications

Monograph Communications website. Pink and purple gradient background, back text "Plain language, Extraordinary results"

Next in line for great website design inspiration is another cloneable by Vancouver-based designer Gary Colwell.

Colwell wonderfully captures the tonality and identity of the communications solutions brand Monograph Communications . In their own words, "[It] features a contrast typography design with the sans-serif (Roboto) representing the corporate professional side of the business, and the serif (Zangezi designed by Daria Petrova) representing an appreciation for the history of the written word."

Centering the site’s design around both type font and typography demonstrates his ingenuity, and it shows how situational and brand awareness can make a brand stand out through seemingly simple design. The Monograph Communications web design proves that intentionality is what makes good design.

15. Moon UltraLight

A screenshot of Moon UltraLight's website, featuring an image of their lighting device.

Drawing inspiration from Apple’s iconic web design, Joseph Berry’s Moon UltraLight is stunning.

This site is a treat for the eye. Berry’s use of interactive animations and parallax scroll elevate the minimalist design elements and perfectly place an aesthetic emphasis on the product’s message and imagery. With sleek transitions and mesmerizing visuals, Moon Ultralight is one of the best websites made in Webflow.

16. Hsu McCullough

A screenshot of Hsu McCullough's architecture studio website

Hsu McCullough 's architecture studio site by Dunclyde is a clean and sharp minimalist delight. Its use of whitespace places a gorgeous emphasis on the site’s imagery, with the arrangement of the crisp sans serif-type font furthering the establishment of balance and form throughout the site’s design.

This weaving of aesthetic form meets function makes Hsu McCullough a great website to draw inspiration from, notably the ‘New York City blogger’ archetype.

6. Moooi Paper Play

Award: Best Visual Design — Aesthetic Webby Winner, 2023

Created by luxury furniture and lighting company Moooi, Paper Play showcases some of the company’s innovative products in an imaginary, digital room.

When the page loaded, I was presented with a beautifully designed room that shifted slightly as I moved my mouse. The soundtrack to the site featured ethereal tones paired with playful percussion.

amazing websites

What I like: The dark background with production videos and the focus on using wood for furniture. I love the simplicity, minimalism, and black-and-white theme.

21. George Nakashima Woodworkers

This woodworking website emphasizes nature and care for the woodworking trade. It’s essentially a slideshow of beautiful forestry and farming images.

As a new image comes on the screen, a new quote related to wood or trees also appears.

This is incredibly relaxing to the visitor and shows that the woodworkers recognize the beauty of trees and the environment. This website also won a Webby in 2019 .

amazing websites

What I like: The design feels fresh and modern. But what really grabs my attention are the motioned flow diagram and those short product “presentations.”

24. Frans Hals Museum

Award: Site of the Year (2018), Awwwards

It can be tough for a museum to present all of its artwork together on a cohesive website. That’s what makes the website of the Frans Hals Museum so impressive.

Located in the Netherlands, this museum has created a website that uses a combination of digital design elements and its own exhibits.

This mixture helps visitors understand what they’ll see, when they can see it, and where else they can get a taste of what this museum has to offer.

amazing websites

Want a similar look for your website? Check out the new Content Hub theme collection on the Envato marketplace.

What I like: The swift transition between images of products/designs. I love the simplicity, which focuses on displaying the offer rather than excessive talking.

29. Amanda Martocchio Architecture

An architecture firm might not specialize in web development, but its website should still demonstrate its commitment to visually pleasing design. Amanda Martocchio took that to heart with this gorgeous website.

It’s no secret that Amanda Martocchio Architecture loves its work — each picture on the homepage of its website is an enchanting shot of the houses the company designs.

The website labels every house you scroll through with the type of design that was intended, along with numerous angles to each building.

amazing websites

31. Pony Studio

Pony Studio’s website is one of the coolest sites I’ve seen.

amazing websites

Every part of this site makes you want to explore more.

What I like: Probably the best part of the Pony site is how they showcase their team.

Boxes switch between current images and childhood photos of each member — it’s adorable, unique, and unlike anything I’ve seen before. Plus, instead of full names, they only use names or nicknames below each picture.

pony studio

32. Lacoste Heritage

To celebrate Lacoste’s 90th anniversary, the brand collaborated with Bonhomme to showcase its story.

In April 2023, Awwwards recognized Lacoste Heritage , awarding it Site of the Day (SOTD) and DEVAWARD recognitions . The site excels in usability and overall design.

It displays Lacoste’s popular products through fantastic background video and image choices.

lacoste-1

As you scroll, you’ll notice a charming feature: a small Lacoste crocodile that turns over and follows the mouse cursor — so original!

amazing websites

What I like : The website’s simplicity, muted color palette, and minimalist product presentation.

35. Cyclemon

Cyclemon’s website is like a colorful picture book that you’ll love flipping through!

There’s a vertical side menu on the right to guide you where you want to go.

amazing websites

What I like: Overall, I have just two words for this website: less is more.

Everything’s perfectly illustrated, with just three categories to choose from. You can go to “Experiment,” aka the homepage, “Show more” to learn about the founders, or “Shop” to pick your poster. It’s that simple.

36. Silencio

I’ve never had such a fun experience on any site like I had on Silencio .

On the homepage, you first see packaged products moving in the background.

01. Dopple Press : Best User Experience

While all of the featured Wix websites provide an A+ user experience, risograph printing studio Dopple Press really takes the cake. The site’s visually attractive and easy to read, thanks to a clean and spacious layout paired with a bright color scheme and palette for optimum aesthetics. Designer Liv White also worked with Velo to implement creative animations on every page, encouraging visitors to interact with her content- such a great example of interactive design at work.

02. OK Drugs : Best use of asymmetry

Exciting visuals? Check. Edible typography? Check. Spunky color scheme? Check. Cute iconography? Check. Vibrant graphics? Check. There are so many reasons OK Drugs made the cut for best websites and web design inspiration, but its use of asymmetry really cinched the decision.

One of the principles of design is to create balance within a composition. While many of the best website designs tend to achieve this using symmetrical layouts, OK Drugs approaches balance in an asymmetrical fashion. The collaged layout honors the brand's unconventionality and the bounty of white space prevents the site from overwhelming its chill-seeking guests.

best websites of 2023

03. Sonja Van Duelman : Best one-page website

Incorporating animation, galleries, use of multimedia and a playful use of typography and fonts, Studio Sonja Van Dulmen's one-page website is a delight to scroll through. She mixes layouts without disorienting the user, demonstrating her prowess as a designer and at designing with perspective in mind.

Using one of her designs as a cover image, Sonja developed the website header to mimic a magazine cover. Her website title sits boldly in the center of the page and aligns with a curve in the cover image. On the right-hand side, anchor points function as a table of contents.

Rabin appreciates the use of Wix's Strips and Columns , tools that enable users to create responsive, full-width elements. "It’s very interesting and dynamic and different and experimental," she says. "The creator explored different options, layouts, features and ways of using typography. It’s not repetitive."

Tip: Check out our one page website builder if you wish to create your own one page website.

best websites

04. Yantra : Best restaurant website

Unlike many restaurant websites , Yantra's focuses on the atmosphere and eliciting emotion instead of its food. The homepage features a full-bleed gallery of stunning images of the restaurant's interior, which promises a new feast for the eyes around every corner. We love that the online menu features a tab for each section of the menu (since scrolling through the extensive menu would've otherwise been quite overwhelming) and how human-centered design wins the day. Also, the site builder used the Wix Gift Card feature so that regulars can easily gift e-vouchers to their loved ones.

best restaurant website

05. Bhroovi Gupta : Best About Us page

When looking out for the best About Us page on our list, we wanted to find one with personality. Enter Bhroovi Gupta, a young graphic designer with a passion for technology and motion design. Her About page opens on a stark white background with a large header that states, "I'm many things." Below it are hashtags that introduce not only her as a professional but also as a person.

Gupta's bio succinctly summarizes her work history and inspirations, and the resume section lists her awards, press features and her roles in various groups. Finally, we love that the page features a few 3D animations and motion graphics, as it shows visitors her capabilities and innovation.

Tip: Check out these about us page tips if you need some help building your own. About us pages can play an impactful role in developing brand awareness around your business or brand and shouldn't be left out of you web design inspiration process.

2023 best websites

06. Noah Demeuldre : Best use of video

As an art director who has worked on commercials, film, music videos and TV, it's no surprise that Noah Demeuldre made the cut for best websites with his use of video. The one-page website is constantly in motion. Demeuldre's clips fill the screen, and the reveal scroll effect he applies to each one ensures that a visitor's experience moving through the website is as captivating as his work.

Tip: If you're great at making videos but not so great at building websites, check out these video website templates that can be used with the Wix website builder.

07. HERoines : Best nonprofit website

We chose HERoines as the best example in the nonprofit website category, because of its effectiveness as a branding asset. The feminine color scheme and empowering imagery creates a cohesive brand image for the organization. The site uses testimonials, a strong message statement and clear CTAs to draw in new members and encourage donations. Being able to incorporate your design and your conversion rate optimization efforts makes for a healthy and successful website.

best nonprofit website design

08. Daniel Aristizabal : Best graphic design website

The second you arrive at Daniel Aristizabal's graphic design website website, you’ve got to admit: This guy’s got skill. We love that he utilized such a wide range of Wix tools—such as VideoBox, Hover Box and Wix website animations —to create a highly interactive experience for visitors.

Most importantly, Aristizable uses his portfolio website to showcase his latest projects, deploy storytelling and capture leads. An organized full-page layout gives us an overview of his work, and buttons placed at each of the four corners invite visitors to connect by providing a contact page and links to his Instagram and Behance profiles.

best website designs for inspiration

09. Noni Ceramica : Best mobile website

With mobile devices accounting for 52% of global internet traffic , we had to include a site that provides a great experience for smartphone users on our best websites list. Noni Cermica’s mobile website stands out because it fits everything a user needs into the palm of their hand: a condensed menu for easy browsing, a prominent shop button for access to their cart and a chat feature for on-the-go customer service.

best website designs to inspire

10. Tiffany Cruz: Best use of typography

Tiffany Cruz’s use of typography enhances what can already be considered an outstanding site. By uploading a typeface to Editor X's font library for her headings, she gave her modern website design a totally unique look. And, like every great graphic designer does, Cruz chose a cleaner, recognizable font for the site copy. This choice ensured a comfortable reading experience for everyone.

best typography websites

11. Bod Drinks: Best product photography

The folks behind Bod Drinks win this round, using high-quality imagery to represent the kombucha beverages and their attractive packaging. Photos of their products are accompanied by images of natural ingredients, an aesthetic decision that elevates Bod Drinks’ healthy brand image and lends credibility to them and their product.

best websites list

12. BlinkMyBrain : Best Favicon

Charming visitors and sealing its brand identity, BlinkMyBrain's favicon is a prominent detail that qualifies it for our best websites list. A favicon is a small image that appears in the website's tab next to its title so that a user can easily find it, even if they keep dozens open at all times. BlinkMyBrain's favicon is a cutout of a still from the animation director's clips: an elderly man flexing and wearing an astronaut helmet.

best website of 2023

13. The Tea Story : Best testimonials page

Based in Singapore, The Tea Story has one of the most delightful websites around.

The tea retailer uses Wix's slideshow feature to incorporate testimonials into its homepage and a decorative floral design to encourage visitors to hang around for tea time. With each positive review, visitors will become more intrigued by the vibrant experience The Tea Story has to offer.

best website design list

14. Mikaela Reuben : Best website header

Mikaela Reuben makes a strong first impression with her website header. With a full-bleed GIF of the health counselor picking rhubarb from a garden, the header makes Rueben's holistic approach clear from the get-go. We love that the sticky navigation bar has a white font without a background when visitors are at the top of the page, but it changes to one with a translucent, off-white background and black text when they scroll down. A search bar further enhances the user experience, providing easy access to the bounty of recipes Rueben offers up free of charge.

15. Ivy Chen : Best parallax scrolling

The three-dimensional qualities of parallax scrolling makes viewers feel as if they are discovering hidden content, providing an engaging experience from start to finish. Ivy Chen's unconventional use of the effect is particularly alluring. She uses the effect to encapsulate her design process: A sketch appears first, then the finished garment layers on top, and finally, a photo of a model slides underneath the garment. Such a sophisticated design choice shows how clever and talented she is as not only a fashion designer but also as an illustrator and a graphic designer. Perfect web inspiration in action.

16. Cami Ferreol : Best website footer

Don't overlook the footer just because it's the last thing people see on a website. Cami Ferreol proves just how strong an impression a great website footer can make. Signing off with a postcard-like design, the creative strategist thanks website visitors, leaving her contact details and a recommended music playlist. Finally, Ferreol stamps the end of her site with a headshot and logo, earning her major points for personal branding.

website footer best website designs

17. Chico Santos : Best website layout

Chico Santos' website layout is as original as it is user friendly. On the left of the page, Santos' lists their projects in reverse-chronological order. The list functions as a navigation bar so that, when a guest clicks on a project, it appears on the right. "It's very simple and uncomplicated," said Rabin. "I like the way one side is sticky and the other one scrolls, because it's a nice way to keep you oriented while you scroll through images. It's a smart solution."

Tip: If you struggle with website layout, utilize these website templates to help you create your website seamlessly.

18. Ellen Von Wiegand : Best lightbox

Even the best websites need a well-designed lightbox, and Ellen Von Wiegand's artist website provides a wonderful example. Because the lightbox design is consistent with the rest of the website, it doesn't bother visitors when it pops on-screen. Featuring a discount and the promise of exclusive offers, the form incentivizes the reader to enter their email address before they hit the exit button.

best lightbox website design

19. Nathalie Lete : Best splash page

Using the extra website real estate to greet visitors, Lete’s splash page on her illustrator website provides an intriguing preview of her talents. As an artist, she nailed her branding, incorporating a sketchbook page into the background to bolster her professional identity. At the bare minimum, it's just a cute website , matching the style of the rest of her art.

designing best website

20. Scarf Aid : Best blog design

This year, we’d be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge Scarf Aid’s blog design among our best website designs. Providing creative relief from the stress of the coronavirus pandemic, “Busy Bee Blogger” features a new silk scarf with each post, providing a poetic context for her daily journal entries. The simple blog layout features the most recently published first, while providing links to each series in the navigation menu.

designing best website 2023

21. Sketch Haven: Best use of movement

Using animation on a website can be tricky territory. As we can see from designer and illustrator Tata Resko’s website, implementing animation in small doses can create a visual flow for visitors that’s dynamic and engaging. From the scrolling banner messages to the rotating buttons, the moving elements aren't just fun to look at—they also guide a guest's interactions on the site.

22. Tach Clothing : Best online store

We chose Tach Clothing for our best online store because they prove how a beautiful website design can facilitate an ideal shopping experience for users, while still be a perfect example of inspirational web design. The minimalist design allows the fantastic photography to shine and makes navigation simple. The fact that a second product photo shows when a user hovers over an item makes for a pleasant and convenient shopping experience.

best online store website design

23. Defne Kaynak: Best website background

The best website backgrounds set the perfect tone for the rest of the site’s design. In Defne Kaynak’s case, that tone is calm, tasteful and out of the ordinary, providing an ideal setting for her online portfolio. The nebulous design compliments the large text, solid hues and sharp shapes that make up her homepage’s content.

best background website design

24. Fei Luo: Best photography website

When your photographs are this good, there’s no better way to show them off than with a fullscreen slideshow. Shanghai-based photographer Fei Luo does just that, putting her best works front and center on the homepage of her photography website . This helps to draw attention and demonstrate her skills and style right off the bat.

design best website 2023

25. In Print Art Book Fair : Best FAQ Page

In Print Art Book Fair has one of the best website designs on this list, with an exemplary FAQ page . Providing visitors with answers to common questions, the FAQ page reveals important details about applying and participating in the annual event.

The Jerusalem-based fair for artists, book publishers and printmakers also does a great job at localizing content, splitting the FAQ page between two languages. A spacious footer and prominent menu give visitors easy access to more information from In Print Art Book Fair, such as an open call application, social media profiles and archives from past events.

design best website this year

26. Ryan Haskins : Best trendsetter

Graphic designer Ryan Haskins gave his brutalist website a lo-fi treatment, demonstrating his confidence and cultural awareness. "Everything is so loud and trashy, which is very trendy," said Rabin. She loves his use of Wix's Pro Gallery to make his New York Times clips rotate, then stop when the cursor hovers over them. The clashing colors and Powerpoint-esque animations would be grating if utilized by an amateur, but Haskins effectively uses them to emphasize his bold and playful brand personality.

best trendsetting website this year

27. Mariela Mezquita: Best contact page

Mariela Mezquita's contact us page is just as sweet as the rest of her website. The round corners on the input fields, playful typography and cheeky tone create an approachable vibe that welcomes in strangers. “I really love the use of movement with the GIF and the use of color in the fields," said Rabin. "It makes it look like a game.”

Whereas experts would typically encourage you to limit web forms to only ask for the bare minimum, the fact that Mezquita has eight fields in her contact form shows her interest in getting to know all her potential customers. The non-mandatory pronoun field is especially thoughtful, as it shows she wants to make all her customers comfortable.

28. The Robin Collective : Best website color scheme

Web design trends come and go, and this year we’re seeing extremes in both minimalist and maximalist directions. The Robin Collective perfects the latter, earning its place among the best websites with this spunky color scheme .

Capturing the attention of visitors with a sunshine-yellow background above the fold and bursts of pink and blue throughout, The Robin Collective demonstrates how an effective color scheme can draw people in and immediately set the tone. Not everyone can pull off such a daring design, but The Robin Collective's use of color proves its status as an out-of-the-box agency.

29. Wendy Ju : Best minimalist website

It's not easy to make a minimalist website with a muted color scheme exciting, but Wendy Ju did just that. She sets the bar high with a subtle but clever animation in the header, but her creativity abounds. We love that the logo influences the site design and that she uses thin lines as a motif.

30. Sharon Radisch : Best homepage design

Sharon Radisch's chic homepage design shows how much of an impact a site designer can make with a simple layout. Black and white photos dominate the page, and the few color photos add luscious pops of red. Splashed across a wide-cropped photo in all caps, the artist's name looks significant and makes sure visitors will never forget it. When making homepages clean, high resolution photos can help tell a story and make an impact.

31. Nedavius : Best Gen Z design

If we could only use one word to describe Nedavius's site, it would be goofy. And yet, the site's goofiness doesn't give you reason to take him less seriously. Rather, it demonstrates his capacity to connect with Gen Zers, who value humor and authenticity.

The artist's blinking avatar sits above four 3D designs that visitors can click through to explore. His use of cushy typography (such as the gummy-bear-esque font he uses to represent his social profiles) and a mossy green background conveys a softness that welcomes in even the most socially awkward Gen Zer. Web design best practices

Now that you’re inspired by the best websites out there, keep those design ideas in mind as you create your own. These suggestions can help you get started and maybe get you featured on a list like this one day:

Start with a strong brand identity. Your website should reflect your brand's personality and values. This means using consistent colors, fonts, and imagery throughout your site.

Make sure your website is easy to use. Visitors should be able to find what they're looking for quickly and easily. Use clear navigation and simple layouts and avoid long, rambling text blocks.

Use high-quality images and videos. Visual content is a great way to capture attention and engage visitors. Make sure your images and videos are high-resolution and relevant to your content. You can also use animation and motion graphics to add visual interest to your website.

Use whitespace effectively. Whitespace can help to make your website look more organized and inviting. Don't be afraid to leave some space around your content. You can also use a dark mode option for visitors who prefer a more minimalist look.

Use responsive design. Your website should look good on all devices, from desktop computers to smartphones. Use responsive design so that your site will automatically adjust to the size of the screen it's being viewed on. Get creating your site with responsive AI with Wix Studio .

Keep your website up-to-date and create engaging content. Make sure your website is always updated with the latest information to keep visitors coming back. It's also a good idea to create content that engages your audience with interactive elements, such as polls, quizzes and calculators. Try using storytelling and humor to connect with visitors on an emotional level.
