The banking industry has enjoyed the ride of emerging technology to undergo significant changes. Banks are among the biggest beneficiaries of the IT revolution and have largely adopted Information Technology solutions for rendering banking services to their customers. The primary objective of this study is to examine the existing literature regarding the impact of E-banking on commercial banks and to identify gaps within the current body of knowledge. The published studies between 2018 and 2022 were evaluated. Researchers evaluated the eligibility of the studies, extracted data from the included studies, and assessed the risk of bias and quality of the study in an independent manner. Initially, 949 references were retrieved, but ultimately, only 10 articles satisfied the inclusion criteria for the analysis and were deemed eligible. All selected articles' objectives, methodologies, outcomes, and recommendations have been analyzed and synthesized. Based on the evaluation and analysis of the articles, The implementation of electronic banking has brought about a multitude of advantages for commercial banks. Some of the benefits encompassed in this list are financial savings achieved via the implementation of automated processes, enhanced levels of consumer interaction and contentment, and the ability to extend market presence to segments that were previously neglected. Moreover, the advent of digitalization in the banking industry has facilitated banks in accommodating evolving client expectations and effectively competing in an ever-expanding digital landscape. However, the findings derived from this comprehensive examination of existing literature provide a fundamental basis for future research and informed decision-making processes. Consequently, these insights empower commercial banks to prosper within the ever-evolving and technologically advanced financial landscape of the 21st century.

This systematic review of reviews aimed to explore the contribution of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for development in developing countries. This systematic review of reviews determines and summarizes ICTD research trends, and methodologies and conceptual frameworks used in ICTD research discuss the findings and evidence and then suggest approaches for further research. We reviewed existing systematic reviews published on ICT and development between January 1990 and July 2017. The review of reviews shows that a growing number of ICTD research works have used qualitative research approaches for data collection and analysis. We note several attempts to develop and apply models/frameworks over explanatory and predictive theories, most notably in the area of social, sociotechnical, and technical. Nevertheless, there is limited evidence on the long‐term contribution of ICT use on livelihoods, patterns of economic inequality, human freedom, and well‐being in developing countries. This review of reviews synthesizes existing systematic reviews on the contribution of ICT for development than was previously available for developing countries. This review has the potential for several stakeholders, including the public and private sector, intermediaries, and nonprofit organizations, to utilize the accumulated evidence from selected systematic reviews to enable/improve the appropriate and sustainable use of ICTs for development.

Although there is a large body of research on trust in e-commerce, a crucial gap is that extant studies have not examined the role of perceived enjoyment on trust in the presence of risk perception in Arab countries. In this paper, an online trust model is presented that exhibits the impact of four external factors (personal innovativeness, propensity to trust, familiarity, and presence of third-party seals) on the intention to use an online payment via the mediation of three endogenous variables (enjoyment, risk, and customer trust). The data was collected from Kuwait, an Arab country, with a mixed of data collection survey methods of 150 online questionnaires and 200 paper-based questionnaires. The data was then analyzed using partial least squares (PLS) regression. The findings revealed that customer trust and enjoyment are two important drivers of the online payment adoption, which neutralized risk perceptions. This study discusses these results as well as research and a managerial perspectives that could assist in enhancing online payment acceptance in Kuwait.

Abstract This research paper provides insight about sukuk using Content analysis which is classified into four categories namely (1) Sukuk concept with respective to structure, rating & performance, sukuk growth, capital structure and pricing; (2) Sukuk comparison with conventional bonds in terms of yield to maturity, risk & return and value at risk; (3) Sukuk at the stock market in the light of diversification of investment portfolio and stock market reactions to sukuk issuance; and (4) sukuk default risk. The study evaluates significant academic works on the above four themes written during 2007-2016 as most quantitative research studies have been undertaken during this period. Sukuk has emerged as an important Islamic capital market instrument and Shariah compliance is its unique characteristic that distinguishes it from conventional bonds. Another outstanding feature of Sukuk is that mobilizes funds at international capital markets for mega capital intensive projects resulting in infrastructure developments in many countries including non-Muslim countries. Sukuk bonds in a portfolio diversifies risk much more than a portfolio with only conventional bonds as such sukuk provides not only diversification benefits but also decreases the risk level of that portfolio. Default risk between bonds & sukuk issuers is mitigated by the impact of GDP level ensuring firms sustainability in the future, the solvency ratio & the profitability ratio of the firms have significant implications for sukuk default risk. For the growth of sukuk market it is imperative to make improvements and overcome inherent weaknesses on a continuous basis. Content analysis on Sukuk will not only benefit academics, scholars, professionals and bank executives in both Islamic banks & Stand alone conventional banks but will also contribute towards future quantitative research studies on sukuk. Key words: Content Analysis, Sukuk, Structure, Yield to Maturity, Value at Risk, Portfolio Diversification, Stock Market Volatility, Sukuk Default Risk.

Based on the review on the available literature sources, this paper comprehensively discusses the identified studies which have been done in the context of e-commerce adoption. Seventy-three (73) papers have been extracted from Elsevier's Scopus database. Those papers were analyzed based on the distribution of publication, the scope demography, the research approach and research method and the adapted theory or conceptual framework. The result of the study found that publications in e-commerce research rose to peak year in 2015. Most of the e-commerce adoption studies were carried out in Southeast Asia (26%) and determining factors of e-commerce adoption was the most popular theme across region. Despite of its popularity, the findings were inconclusive in terms of specific determinants that significantly contributed towards e-commerce adoption. However, it is found that variables from the organizational context and external environment context significantly contributed towards e-commerce adoption. Most of the studies preferred quantitative approach (71.2%), especially in employing questionnaire methods. The result of the theory analysis reveals that the most frequently used conceptual framework was TOE framework, while many studies (24.7%) did not take into account of specific conceptual framework. Only a few researchers (11%) had used self-developed conceptual framework rather than existing framework. In term of scope, majority of the studies focused on the factors that encourage e-commerce adoption. Such limited scope of studies efforts could only provide a partial understanding of the diffusion process. Future research shall go further to investigate the post-adoption stages of e-commerce. The limitation of single database and keywords might fail to give more extensive retrieved number of articles in the study.

Open access is a humanitarian movement to ensure equal access to knowledge for each and every member of our society. It aims to reduce the access and knowledge divide and allow researchers from around the world to contribute to enriching human knowledge. Using online surveys, this study attempts to understand Bangladeshi faculty members’ awareness, perceptions, and use of open access journals. It also explores the motivational factors that influence the faculty members to choose open access journals for publication. The study briefly discusses some issues of predatory open access journals in the context of the open access movement. Finally, the paper suggests that libraries work as centres for open access publications and help faculty members and researchers choose the right journals for their research.

The research discusses the importance of the culture as a social-economical development and business factor in the scope of European integration. Based on the generalization of various cultural models, the conceptual - systemic model of culture is represented. Also, the culture as a concept of informal institute is introduced. The quantitative characteristics of culture have been used to investigate the ratio of these indices for Georgia compared with the same indicators of the EU and various world states. Depending on the informal nature of the culture institute, it is noted that the long-term mechanism of culture transformation should be considered together with the institutionalization process as a whole. Within the problem of the institutionalization it is of great importance to ensure the regular ratio of formal and informal institutes in the development of the country’s social-economical institutional structure. The directions of long-term transformation of cultural values have been identified. In this respect, the necessity for improvement of trainings for decision-making structure officials and prospective business managers and formation of their business culture has been highlighted. It has been indicated that activities for the systemic change of cultural values should be reflected in the country's long-term social-economical development strategy.

Throughout the industry, financial institutions seek to eliminate cumbersome authentication methods, such as PINs, passwords, and security questions, as these antiquated tactics prove increasingly weak. Thus, many organizations now aim to implement emerging technologies in an effort to validate identities with greater certainty. The near instantaneous nature of online banking, purchases, transactions, and payments puts tremendous pressure on banks to secure their operations and procedures. In order to reduce the risk of human error in financial domains, expert systems are seen to offer a great advantage in big data environments. Besides their efficiency in quantitative analysis such as profitability, banking management, and strategic financial planning, expert systems have successfully treated qualitative issues including financial analysis, investment advisories, and knowledge-based decision support systems. Due to the increase in financial applications' size, complexity, and number of components, it is no longer practical to anticipate and model all possible interactions and data processing in these applications using the traditional data processing model. The emergence of new research areas is clear evidence of the rise of new demands and requirements of modern real-life applications to be more intelligent. This book provides an exhaustive review of the roles of expert systems within the financial sector, with particular reference to big data environments. In addition, it offers a collection of high-quality research that addresses broad challenges in both theoretical and application aspects of intelligent and expert systems in finance. The book serves to aid the continued efforts of the application of intelligent systems that respond to the problem of big data processing in a smart banking and financial environment.

Despite its huge potential, the use of mobile technology for carrying out payment transactions and replicating monetary features, has only taken off in a limited number of countries. The fact that mobile payment services are not being provided on a worldwide scale, suggests that the reasons for the successful cases are not yet fully understood, and as a result, cannot be easily replicated. This paper seeks to fill this knowledge gap by providing a comprehensive scoping study, which seeks to map out the literature published between 2001 and 2011. An investigation has been carried out of a total of 94 peer-reviewed papers, with the aim of providing a compre- hensive picture of the knowledge, production and dissemination about mobile payments. Furthermore, this study includes a detailed analysis of 12 primary case studies on existing mobile payment schemes, as well as a consultation exercise with stakeholders. The main contribution of this study is to provide a clear account of the knowledge that exists on mobile payments. As a result, it has been possible to detect serious gaps in this knowledge base (in geographical, methodological and conceptual areas) and show how future research can make improvements in the field. In contrast to the previous century when the concept of electronic transfer was proposed, nowadays, electronic payments are drastically increased due to the rapid increase in online shopping or Internet-based banking. Electronic payments became the first option for transferring money to/from payer/payee in the twenty-first century. Visa cards, master-card, smart cards, debit cards, credit cards, e-check, and e-wallet, are the options for e-payments. Behind the acceptance of the new payment system depend upon the three factors- cost, time, and security per transaction take the place of each other. This paper will highlight the background study, types of electronic payment systems available, and which payment method users should choose considering the cost, time, and security factors. This research will also identify the issues and challenges of e-payments and suggest solutions to improve performance and quality in developing countries. This review paper aims to introduce the reader to electronic payment and update the reader with the current state of the art in the electronic payment system and provide an overview of past efforts and future trends of electronic payment transfer. Banks are important in mobilizing and allocating savings in an economy and can solve important moral hazard and adverse selection problems by monitoring and screening borrowers and depositors. Besides, banks are important in directing funds where they are most needed in an efficient manner and have direct implications on capital allocation, industrial expansion, and economic growth (Berger, Demirguc-Kunt, and Haubrich 2003; Levine 1997). Banks also play an important role in diminishing informational asymmetries and risks in the financial system. Hence, the study of the banking industry and its impact on the economy is of the utmost importance. The effects of concentration and competition on bank performance are pertinent since they have important policy implications. A recent global trend of consolidation in the banking sector has intensified, generating important debates on its effects on the profitability of banks, consumer costs, the efficiency in allocating resources in an economy, and on overall financial stability.
